Abstract

There are many attempts to support the development of industry in Indonesia, especially on automotive sector, one of them is by replacing import components with local component products. Bushing is one of imported component that widely used on automotive application including motor strater. Bushing usually made of copper alloy such as brass, bronz or babbit in a solid form by casting or extrusion process. In this research powder metal technology is used to process Cu-Al powder to become slide bearing of motor starter. It is expected that powder metal process not only increasing local content in automotive parts but also providing better quality by increasing life time of bushing compared to ordinary one. Cu-Al metal powder was compacted at various pressure, i.e: 250 MPa, 350 MPa and 450 MPa, and then all specimens were sintered at different temperatures : 4000C, 5000C dan 6000C for 1 hour. After sintering specimens were air cooled to room temperature. After physical and mechanical test it can be deduced that bushing made by powder metallurgy method could increase its mechanical properties and as aresult improve its life time operation.

Abstract

As an archipelagic country, Indonesia relies heavily on good sea transportation system to support national economic development, to achieve a sustainable logistical distribution system over the country and to help maintain the national unity. To achieve this goal, a good port system should be in place. Port is one of the most important urban facilities where people could continue their travel from one to another place. It is build for several purposes such as : trading, basic for military expansion , fishing, and travelling . But it was not much realized by the people that the establishment of port has an effect to the existence of regional economic development . There are 68 ports in Indonesia which are situated in five big islands namely Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, West Papua and two small islands namely : East Nusatenggara, and also West Nusatenggara. Four ports are identified as potential ports to be developed at national scale based on infrastructure sensitivity level for regional development

Abstract

This paper describes hydrodynamic model tests of Wing in Surface Effect (WiSE) Craft. These craft was fitted with stephull form in different location on longitudinal flat bottom (stepedhull planning craft) to determine the influences of sticking and porpoising motion performances. These motions are usually occured when the craft start to take-off from water surfaces. The test models with scale of 1 : 7 were comprised of 4 (four) stephull models and 1 (one) non-stephull model as a comparative study. The hydrodynamic tests were performed with craft speed of 16 – 32 knots (prototype values) in Towing Tank at UPT. Balai Pengkajian dan Penelitian Hidrodinamika (BPPH), BPPT, Surabaya. The resistance (drag) was measured by dynamo meter and the trim of model (draft changing at fore and aft of model due to model speed) was measured by trim meter. By knowing the value of model trim, the wetted surface area can be determined. Then, the lift forces were calculated based on these measured values. The model test results were presented on tables and curves. Test results show that models with step located far away from center of gravity of the WiSE craft tend to porpoising and sticking condition, except if the step location on the below of these center of gravity. While model without step tends to sticking conditions.
