Abstract

This article examines the core ideas of Junaid al-Baghdadi as a central figure in the formation of classical Sunni Sufism. The main focus of this study is an analysis of the concepts of tawḥīd, fanāʾ–baqāʾ, ṣaḥw (spiritual awareness), and the integration between sharīʿah and ḥaqīqah. The research employs a qualitative method based on literature study with a descriptive-analytical approach to both classical sources and contemporary academic studies. The results indicate that Junaid al-Baghdadi developed a moderate and systematic model of Sufism, emphasizing a balance between the exoteric dimension (sharīʿah) and the esoteric dimension (ḥaqīqah). He rejected extreme forms of Sufism that disregard sharīʿah norms and emphasized the importance of rational control in mystical experiences. His concept of ṣaḥw serves as the foundation for a “conscious” and measured Sufism, in contrast to the ecstatic (sukr) model that tends to be expressive. This article concludes that Junaid al-Baghdadi’s thought makes a fundamental contribution to constructing an integrative and ethical Sunni Sufi paradigm that remains relevant within the context of contemporary Islamic spirituality.

Abstract

This study explores the philosophical dimensions embedded within the Qur’an, focusing on three central domains: metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics. While the Qur’an is primarily regarded as a revealed scripture, its discourse contains profound philosophical insights that have shaped the intellectual tradition of Islamic thought. Using a qualitative and analytical approach, this research examines key Qur’anic concepts related to the nature of reality (ontology), sources of knowledge, and moral frameworks. The findings demonstrate that the Qur’an presents a coherent philosophical worldview grounded in divine unity (tawḥīd), integrating metaphysical assertions with epistemological guidance and ethical imperatives. Furthermore, the study argues that Qur’anic philosophy is not abstract speculation but a lived and practical framework that bridges reason and revelation. This research contributes to contemporary discussions by highlighting the relevance of Qur’anic philosophy in addressing modern intellectual and ethical challenges.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the cognitive, social, and emotional landscapes in which children grow and develop. This paper examines the importance of nurturing psychological sensitivity in early childhood as a foundational strategy for preparing young minds to navigate the complexities of an AI-driven world. Psychological sensitivity, understood as the capacity for emotional awareness, empathy, adaptability, and reflective thinking, is increasingly essential in an era where human-machine interaction is pervasive. Using a qualitative and interdisciplinary approach, this study integrates insights from developmental psychology, education, and digital culture to propose a framework for cultivating psychological sensitivity in early childhood. The findings suggest that early emotional attunement, guided play, ethical digital exposure, and value-based education play critical roles in developing resilient and adaptive children. Furthermore, the study argues that psychological sensitivity functions as a protective factor against the potential dehumanizing effects of excessive AI reliance. This research contributes to contemporary educational discourse by offering a holistic model that bridges early childhood development with emerging technological challenges.

Abstract

This paper explores the concept of psychotherapy within the Qur’anic framework, emphasizing its therapeutic dimensions in addressing mental and spiritual well-being. The study argues that the Qur’an presents a holistic model of healing that integrates psychological, moral, and spiritual elements. Through a qualitative textual analysis of selected Qur’anic verses, this research identifies key therapeutic mechanisms such as remembrance (dhikr), reflection (tafakkur), reliance on God (tawakkul), and purification of the soul (tazkiyat al-nafs). The findings reveal that the Qur’an not only diagnoses psychological distress—such as anxiety, despair, and inner conflict—but also offers structured methods for healing. These methods operate on multiple levels, including cognitive restructuring, emotional regulation, and spiritual transformation. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that Qur’anic psychotherapy differs fundamentally from secular approaches by grounding mental health in a theocentric worldview. The Qur’an positions ultimate healing as a process of reconnecting the human soul with divine guidance. This study contributes to the growing field of Islamic psychology by providing a systematic framework for understanding Qur’anic approaches to mental health, offering both theoretical insights and practical implications for contemporary psychotherapy.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of metaphysics within the Islamic intellectual tradition through a comparative analysis of three major disciplines: philosophy, kalam (Islamic theology), and Sufism. Metaphysics, as the study of the nature of being and ultimate reality, holds a central position in Islamic thought but is approached differently across these traditions. Islamic philosophy tends to employ a rational approach, emphasizing the concept of wājib al-wujūd (Necessary Existent), kalam focuses on defending the doctrine of tawhid through theological argumentation, while Sufism emphasizes direct experiential knowledge of the Divine reality. Using qualitative methods and conceptual analysis, this study demonstrates that these three approaches are not contradictory but complementary, collectively contributing to a comprehensive understanding of Islamic metaphysics. The research enriches the discourse of Islamic philosophy by proposing an integrative model that connects reason, revelation, and spiritual experience.
