Abstract

Infrastructure has long been recognized as a fundamental driver of economic growth by enhancing productivity, market connectivity, and investment efficiency. This study investigates the impact of road infrastructure, electricity infrastructure, and population on regional economic performance across six provinces in Java Island, Indonesia, during the period 2016–2021. A quantitative approach using panel data regression was employed to analyze secondary data obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. The Random Effect Model (REM) was identified as the most appropriate specification based on the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests. The results show that both road and electricity infrastructures have a positive and statistically significant influence on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), confirming the crucial role of physical capital accumulation in supporting regional productivity. In contrast, population growth does not significantly affect GRDP, indicating that demographic expansion alone cannot guarantee economic gains without parallel improvements in human capital quality and labor absorption. The findings underscore that infrastructure investment must be accompanied by human development strategies and regional planning policies to achieve inclusive and balanced economic growth. This study contributes to empirical literature on regional development economics and provides evidence-based insights for policymakers in developing economies seeking to enhance spatial equity and sustainable growth.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of infrastructure development and population growth on regional economic growth across six provinces in Java Island from 2016 to 2021. Infrastructure serves as a critical determinant of productivity enhancement and interregional connectivity, while demographic dynamics influence regional production and consumption capacity. The study employs secondary data obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR). A panel data regression approach is applied, comparing the Common Effect Model (CEM), Fixed Effect Model (FEM), and Random Effect Model (REM). Model selection through Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests identifies the Random Effect Model as the most appropriate specification. The results show that road and electricity infrastructures have a positive and significant effect on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), whereas population growth has no significant influence on regional economic performance. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.8414 indicates that the independent variables collectively explain 84.14 percent of the variation in GRDP. These findings confirm that infrastructure development remains a vital engine of regional economic growth, while population growth must be supported by improvements in human capital and labor productivity to become an effective driver of economic progress. The study contributes to regional development literature and provides policy implications for sustainable and equitable growth planning in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the empowerment of the creative economy through weaving artisanship as a means of improving community welfare in Central Lombok, Indonesia, from the perspective of Islamic economics. The research is motivated by the increasing recognition of creative industries as strategic drivers of inclusive and sustainable development, particularly in rural areas where cultural heritage and local craftsmanship remain strong. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving local weavers, community leaders, and supporting institutions in Rembitan Village, Pujut District. The findings reveal that weaving activities have significantly contributed to the enhancement of family welfare, as reflected in increased household income, improved access to education, and strengthened community solidarity. The artisans’ economic empowerment was achieved through the provision of facilities, training, and skill-sharing mechanisms supported by local and governmental initiatives. However, several challenges persist, including limited access to capital, market expansion, and digital literacy. From an Islamic economic perspective, weaving enterprises embody ethical principles such as halal production, honesty (ṣidq), hard work (ijtihād), and the prohibition of exploitative profit (gharar and riba’). The study concludes that empowering traditional artisans through creative economic activities grounded in Islamic values can enhance both material and spiritual well-being. It recommends collaborative policies involving local government, religious institutions, and private sectors to strengthen creative entrepreneurship, promote digital marketing, and institutionalize sharia-compliant financing schemes for artisan communities.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of green banking practices among Indonesia’s state-owned banks (Bank BUMN) and their contribution to sustainable and ethical financial transformation. As part of the global shift toward environmentally responsible finance, green banking has emerged as a critical framework for integrating ecological considerations into banking operations, investment decisions, and corporate governance. Using a qualitative descriptive approach supported by secondary data and document analysis, this research explores how state-owned banks apply sustainable finance principles in alignment with national regulations, including OJK Regulation No. 51/POJK.03/2017 on Sustainable Finance and Law No. 32/2009 on Environmental Protection and Management. The findings reveal that the implementation of green banking within Indonesia’s BUMN banks has reached a maturity level of nearly 100 percent compliance with sustainable finance indicators, as reflected in policy integration, sustainable lending programs, and environmentally friendly internal operations. These practices have reduced carbon dependency, enhanced energy efficiency, and positioned banks as key enablers of Indonesia’s low-carbon economic transition. However, challenges remain in the form of limited human resource capacity, inconsistent managerial commitment, and complex regulatory harmonization. The study concludes that the long-term success of green banking requires continuous institutional support, technological innovation, and cross-sectoral collaboration. It contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable finance by highlighting the strategic role of public banks in balancing economic growth, environmental stewardship, and ethical responsibility within emerging economies.

Abstract

This study examines the existence and practical implementation of mediation in divorce petition cases (cerai talak) from the perspective of Islamic law, using empirical evidence from the. Religious Court of Gorontalo, Indonesia. Mediation serves as a mandatory procedural step in religious court proceedings, intended to reconcile disputing spouses before a formal divorce decree is issued. However, its practical effectiveness in achieving reconciliation remains questionable. Using a qualitative empirical approach, data were collected through interviews with judges, mediators, and litigants, along with direct observations of mediation sessions. The findings reveal that mediation in divorce petitions is often conducted merely as a procedural formality to fulfill administrative requirements, rather than as a substantive effort to restore marital harmony. This condition arises due to several factors, including limited mediator engagement, insufficient understanding of Islamic reconciliation principles (al-ṣulḥ and iṣlāḥ), and a lack of emotional readiness among disputing parties. From the perspective of Islamic law, mediation is an embodiment of the Qur’anic injunctions in Surah An-Nisa (4:35), which emphasize peaceful settlement through arbitration and goodwill. The study highlights the need to strengthen the role of mediators as agents of reconciliation by integrating Islamic ethical and spiritual dimensions into the mediation process. It concludes that a reform of mediation practices in religious courts—through enhanced training, religious awareness, and procedural refinement—is essential to uphold the essence of islah as envisioned in Islamic jurisprudence

Abstract

Stunting remains a major challenge to human development in Indonesia, as it directly affects the quality of human resources and long-term economic productivity. Central Java Province is among the national priority areas for stunting reduction; however, the efficiency of its intervention programs remains suboptimal. This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of stunting intervention programs in Central Java Province during the 2019–2023 period by applying a Two-Stage Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach. The study employs secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Central Java Provincial Health Office, and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Input variables include the percentage of infants receiving exclusive breastfeeding, the percentage of infants with complete basic immunization, the percentage of deliveries in health facilities, and the percentage of households with access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation. The output variable is represented by the percentage of children under five with normal nutritional status (height-for-age). The findings reveal that only 5.71 percent of districts or municipalities in Central Java achieved perfect technical efficiency, namely Banjarnegara and Grobogan Regencies. This indicates that most regions have not yet optimized their resources and health service capacities to achieve effective stunting interventions. The study highlights the need for strengthened intersectoral coordination, improvement of basic health service facilities, and better allocation of nutrition-related budgets to enhance systemic efficiency in reducing stunting prevalence at the regional level.
