Abstract

The current study aimed at determining the level of ego strength as well as the accuracy of basketball jump shooting of a sample of basketball players of the Kirkuk University team. In this quest, the study seeks to determine the correlation between these two variables as regards the sampled participants. The methodology used in this study is descriptive with a correlational approach that best suits the nature of the research. The sampled population was assembled in a random fashion from the basketball players at Kirkuk University for the academic year 2024/2025. It was ensured here that the selected participants, who were 14 in total, represent different colleges and departments. Results demonstrated a significant positive relationship between both variables addressed in the current study, i.e. ego strength and shooting accuracy in basketball. This tells us that the role of psychological factors in improving skill performance is of paramount importance. Players with high levels of ego strength were found to displaying greater focus and an improved ability in order to deal with competitive pressures. The study came up with a set of recommendations the main of which is that psychological training programs should be part of the training plans of basketball teams. This is orde enhance players' ego strength and improve their ability to deal with competitive pressures. Moreover, the study could also recommend that players’ concentration skills and self-confidence should be developed using mental strategies such as mental visualization.

Abstract

Purpose of physically training adolescents in sports clubs is to get them ready for physical and technical effort by boosting their physical and psychological levels. Modern football is a game that takes a significant deal of physical effort and fitness, thus it has become vital to train youngsters physically throughout the preparation and formation stage, since this is the basic stage that prepares the player physically for matches and tournaments. Thus, the research problem is defined in "An Analytical Study of Physical Fitness Components for Football Juniors in Some Clubs in Dhi Qar Governorate" during the preparation process phase, the lack of a clear methodology or general vision for physical preparation programs and plans for football juniors in sports clubs, Particularly when they represent governmental institutions that specialize in training a big proportion of young people to contribute to the clarity of current information based on scientific principles and grounds that allow for greater development of physical capacities. This encouraged the researcher to identify current training material and its link to physical ability levels throughout the preparation phase

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of combined training using varied angled surfaces and aquatic environments on the biomechanical indicators of discus throwing performance in Iraqi youth athletes under 20 years old. The experimental design involved pre- and post-test assessments of key biomechanical parameters such as release speed, release angle, body rotation rate, and achieved distance. A purposive sample of 6 athletes, selected from 15, participated in a 10-week training program, which was implemented at the National Center for Talent Development in Baghdad, the Olympic Swimming Pool at Al-Sha'ab Sports Complex, and the Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Baghdad. The training included a progressive increase in surface angle and water depth, targeting improved strength, coordination, and technical execution. Results showed significant improvements across all measured variables: release speed (15.48%), release angle (10.68%), body rotation rate (15.56%), and achieved distance (12.46%). Statistical analysis using paired t-tests indicated significant improvements (p < 0.001) in all biomechanical indicators. These findings suggest that the integrated approach of surface and aquatic training is effective in enhancing discus throwing performance, with implications for future training programs in track and field sports.
