Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed contemporary economic systems, including the implementation of Islamic economic practices. One of the most prominent technological innovations is blockchain, which offers transparency, security, decentralization, and efficiency in transaction management. This study aims to analyze the role of blockchain technology in strengthening Islamic economics from the perspective of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research by examining scholarly journals, books, regulatory documents, and authoritative reports related to blockchain and Islamic economics. The findings indicate that blockchain has substantial potential to support Islamic economic development, particularly in Islamic financial institutions, zakat and waqf management, smart contracts, and halal supply chains. The characteristics of blockchain align with the objectives of Shariah, especially in protecting wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl), promoting transparency, and ensuring justice in economic transactions. However, the implementation of blockchain in Islamic economics also faces several challenges, including regulatory uncertainty, limited technological literacy, and differing scholarly opinions regarding digital assets and smart contracts. Therefore, a comprehensive Shariah-based governance framework and collaboration among regulators, practitioners, scholars, and technology experts are essential to ensure that blockchain adoption remains consistent with Islamic principles and effectively contributes to public welfare (maṣlaḥah).

Abstract

Halal certification functions as a legal instrument within the halal product assurance system aimed at providing certainty and protection for Muslim consumers; however, its effectiveness in ensuring the implementation of the principle of thaharah (ritual purity and cleanliness) in food production remains debatable. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of halal certification in guaranteeing the application of the thaharah principle in food production from the perspective of Islamic economic law. This research employs a qualitative approach with a juridical-empirical design, combining normative analysis of halal-related regulations and fatwas with empirical data collected through in- depth interviews, direct observation of production processes, and document analysis involving halal-certified food business actors, halal process assistants, and halal auditors. The findings indicate that halal certification is effective in a normative and administrative sense, as reflected in compliance with legal and procedural requirements; however, it has not been fully effective substantively in consistently ensuring the application of thaharah principles in daily production practices. The results reveal that business actors’ limited understanding of thaharah, weak post-certification supervision, and the administrative orientation of halal certification are key factors affecting its effectiveness. This study concludes that halal certification tends to be perceived primarily as an administrative obligation, resulting in the incomplete realization of Islamic legal objectives, particularly the protection of religion and life. Therefore, strengthening the internalization of thaharah values, enhancing continuous supervision, and repositioning halal certification as a substantive instrument of Islamic economic law are necessary to improve its effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of SWOT analysis and the strategy matrix in the process of corporate strategic decision-making. This research uses a literature review approach with a conceptual study design, in which data were obtained from various literature sources in the form of textbooks and scientific journal articles relevant to the topics of strategic management and decision-making. The results of the study indicate that SWOT analysis functions as an analytical framework that helps companies identify internal factors, namely strengths and weaknesses, as well as external factors, namely opportunities and threats, that influence strategic decision-making. In addition, the SWOT matrix serves as an integrative tool that transforms the results of SWOT analysis into structured strategic alternatives through SO, WO, ST, and WT strategies. The findings of this study show that SWOT analysis and the strategy matrix not only function as tools for mapping strategies but also as an analytical framework that supports systematic strategic decision-making. This research provides a conceptual contribution in strengthening the understanding of the role of SWOT analysis in strategic management.

Abstract

Waqf is a portable or income-generating asset given for public (Islamic) benefit as a gift. The law of waqf in Islam is considered sunnah muakkadah, which is a highly recommended sunnah due to its extraordinary virtue and widespread benefits for the community. This research was completed using a qualitative descriptive research method with a literature study. Literature study is an activity of taking and collecting data from books, previous research journals, and trusted websites, then reading, recording, and reprocessing them. The results of this study show that the management of productive waqf can be seen in the waqf land in West Java which is rented out for agricultural land, where the results finance education and health programs, create jobs, and improve food security. Strategies that can be used are (1) long-term productive allocation in properties (MRT, commuter trains), agriculture, trade, and industry (2) investment in youth education for global human resources (3) digital literacy of waqf for millennials and Gen-Z as well as (4) consumptive assistance for the poor and persons with disabilities. The implementation of this strategy not only increases the number of waqif and waqf funds, but also accelerates the growth of the productive economy.
