Abstract

This research aims to find out what language learning strategies are in improving the language skills of elementary school students. This research data uses the method. This research uses a qualitative approach with Kutai language teacher subjects and students in class 4 MIN 1 East Kutai. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation to determine learning strategies and their impact on students' language skills. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data collection, reduction and presentation. The object of this research was carried out at MIN 1 Sangatta Utara, the research results showed that the regional language learning strategy at MIN 1 Sangatta Utara was proven to improve students' language skills through an integrated and contextual approach. Language is taught as a communication tool to convey ideas, feelings, and information. Learning is active and varied, project, activity, and technology-based, and involves teachers, students, and parents. Four language skills—listening, speaking, reading and writing— are trained in an integrated manner. Kutai language is used in learning to increase students' self-confidence in speaking. Students are also invited to discuss, debate, write, and simulate. This helps with complete mastery of the language. Some students are more comfortable writing than speaking, so a diverse approach is needed so that all aspects of skills develop. This strategy is in line with theories that emphasize the importance of skills integration, active student participation, and a supportive learning environment.

Abstract

Strengthening the professionalism of educators is a crucial element in improving the quality of education. This paper reviews the process of professional teacher development, the steps taken, and policies related to teacher career and professional development. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach to analyze existing teacher development policies and models in Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that professional teacher development consists of several stages, namely the initial education stage, induction, continuing professional development, and career levels supported by government policies. The teacher development process involves various training programs, certification, and performance-based evaluation systems. The policy for teacher professional development in Indonesia still faces several challenges, such as equal access to training and performance evaluation that has not been maximized. This article recommends improvements in teacher professional development policies in order to improve the quality of education sustainably.

Abstract

Microteaching is one of the effective assessment methods in preparing prospective teachers before implementing field experience practice (PPL). This technique provides an opportunity for education students to master basic teaching skills in a controlled environment, with a short duration and focus on specific aspects such as classroom management, use of learning media, and evaluation techniques. Through microteaching, prospective teachers can identify their strengths and weaknesses, as well as obtain constructive feedback from lecturers and peers. Research shows that the microteaching experience significantly increases the confidence, creativity and pedagogical competence of prospective teachers, making it easier for them to adapt to real situations in schools during PPL. Thus, microteaching acts as a bridge between educational theory in higher education and teaching practice in the field, making it a critical component in the teacher education curriculum.

Abstract

The discussion method is a learning strategy that encourages active involvement of students in exchanging ideas, engaging in dialogue, and collectively solving problems. This approach is proven effective in developing critical thinking skills, communication abilities, and broadening students’ knowledge. In the context of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as well as other subjects, the discussion method plays a crucial role in character building, moral value instillation, and boosting students’ self-confidence. The implementation process includes selecting topics, dividing groups, group discussions, presenting results, and joint reflection. Although it has many advantages, this method also faces challenges such as domination by certain participants, limited time, and the need for teachers to possess special facilitation skills. To optimize its effectiveness, strategies such as role assignment within groups, thorough material preparation, effective time management, and teacher training are necessary. Therefore, the discussion method is a highly effective learning approach to enhance the quality of the learning process and holistic character development, especially in the context of PAI learning.
