Abstract

This study presents two items of problem formulation, namely: first, the pattern of communication between coaches and athletes of Taekwondo UKM UIN Alauddin Makassar in improving achievement. Second, what are the inhibiting factors between coaches and athletes of Taekwondo at UKM UIN Alauddin Makassar? This research uses qualitative methods with a communication approach and is discussed descriptively. Primary data was obtained from Taekwondo UKM coaches and athletes UIN Alauddin Makassar. Data collection is used through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this study show that: first, the applied communication pattern involves all channels or all team members, where coaches can interact with all athletes to respect each other and create training spirit for increased performance. It involves providing direction and motivation both during practice and when facing the championship. Communication patterns also include wheel patterns and circle patterns at the training stage that occur between the coach and the athlete. Second, coaches and athletes have faced various obstacles, including obstacles in the communication process such as difficulties in sending messages, obstacles in encoding symbols, language barriers, and difficulties faced by message recipients. In addition, they also face obstacles in training, obstacles in championships, semantic barriers, and psychological barriers.

Abstract

On Facebook social media, cyberbullying cases are very frequent, and most victims are unaware that they are victims, and many victims experience various social problems and in themselves due to a lack of education related to the case. This study aims to find out why a person can become a victim of cyberbullying, the form, and the factors that cause cyberbullying. The informant is a victim of cyberbullying on Facebook and attends SMAN 2 SIDRAP, selected by the side snowball method to obtain eight people. This research is qualitative using a phenomenological approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation using data analysis using the Purposive Sampling method. From the results of this study, the researcher found that cyberbullying behavior on Facebook and social media in adolescents at SMAN 2 SIDRAP can help victims improve their privacy and control themselves, especially on social media. The factors that cause cyberbullying to occur are the characteristics of each individual and victim, the victim's social environment, and also the motivation of the perpetrator. This research is expected to be used to add new insights and make everyone aware of how cyberbullying can occur so that it can be avoided, as well as encourage every reader to be literate about cyberbullying and not underestimate it.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the application of environmental journalism in the Mongabay media in accordance with the ethical principles of environmental journalists. First, understand discourse analysis in texts related to news about the nickel industry threatening Sulawesi. Second, discourse practices in creating news texts for the Nickel Industry Threaten Sulawesi. Third, socio-cultural considerations in creating discourse. In this research, the researcher used a qualitative method with Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis approach. The research results show that Mongabay Media has applied the ethical principles of environmental journalism in its reporting. Representation in the news text is filled with sentences that take sides with the weak, or those who do not have access to speak in the media. Then the relationship built in the text brings the writer and reader closer together, while in the text, the identity of the Mongabay media is increasingly revealed, with the use of the text taking full sides with the turmoil of damage caused by the nickel industry. The discourse practice used by the Mongabay media in the news about the Nickel Industry Threatening Sulawesi is that there is a similarity in the understanding of media power owners with the ideology of news writers, both playing a role in protecting the environment. The discourse presented in the text is not only an effort to inform Sulawesi's condition due to mining but also to control those who process the mine. Socio-cultural considerations in reading news texts can be seen from the way Mongabay media gives voice to coastal communities, fishermen, indigenous peoples, and women in its text.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of the Islamic Political Communication course on students' interest in political literacy at the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN Alauddin Makassar. The background to this research is based on the importance of political literacy in forming critical political understanding and participation among students. Along with the development of information technology, political literacy becomes increasingly important to support students' active involvement in political issues. The research method used is quantitative with a survey approach. The population of this study were students from the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication who had taken the Islamic Political Communication course. The research sample was chosen randomly and consisted of 100 respondents. Data is collected through questionnaires that measure political knowledge, political participation, and understanding of political issues. Data analysis was carried out using a simple linear regression technique to determine the influence of the Islamic Political Communication course on students' interest in political literacy. The research results show that the Islamic Political Communication course has a significant influence on increasing students' interest in political literacy. The correlation coefficient between course variables and interest in political literacy shows a strong positive relationship. This means that the higher the students' understanding of the Islamic Political Communication course, the higher their interest in political literacy. The conclusion of this research is that the Islamic Political Communication course plays an important role in increasing students' interest in political literacy. This research implies the need to improve the quality of teaching in Islamic Political Communication courses to support better political literacy among students. The recommendation of this research is for lecturers to be more innovative in teaching methods and utilize technology to enrich lecture material, as well as encourage students to be more actively involved in discussions and political activities.

Abstract

The journal created aims to describe how PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch provides Umrah services to elderly pilgrims. With two sub-problems, namely: 1) What are the steps for the Umrah service for the elderly congregation of PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch? and 2) What are the obstacles in the Umrah service for PT's elderly congregation, Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch? The research objectives are to find out and describe: 1) Umrah services for elderly congregations of PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch 2) Obstacles in Umrah services for elderly pilgrims, PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch. This type of research is qualitative research with a scientific approach in the field of Hajj and Umrah management as well as a service strategy approach. Research location: PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch. The primary data source in this research was obtained from interviews with the main director, general administration division, financial administration division, and elderly Umrah pilgrims at PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch. Secondary data sources include photos, archives, literature, and data from the PT. Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch. The data collection methods are observation, interviews, and documentation methods. Analysis of research data by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research indicate that the form of Umrah service for elderly pilgrims at PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch is a special service that serves elderly pilgrims according to their needs by adopting a responsible attitude and prioritizing the comfort and safety of elderly congregations. Services provided by PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch start before departure and continue with services upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch ensures that the congregation carries out the Umrah pilgrimage in accordance with Islamic law so that a memorable trip is created. Even though they still encounter several obstacles in serving elderly pilgrims, they can still be resolved with the best solution according to the conditions and needs of the elderly congregation. The implications of this research for PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch continue to strive to provide the best service according to the needs of the elderly congregation so that the congregation can feel satisfied with the services provided by PT. Cahaya Madinah Mandiri Siwa Branch.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the representation of beauty in the Puteri Indonesia 2023 program aired on SCTV. This research is descriptive-qualitative using John Fiske's semiotic analysis method, which examines signs to construct meaning within the broadcast, comprising three levels of analysis: reality, representation, and ideology. The data source for this research is the final round broadcast of Puteri Indonesia 2023 uploaded on the Official Puteri Indonesia YouTube channel. Meanwhile, the data collection method used is a literature study, and the data analysis technique employed is John Fiske's semiotics. The results of the study indicate that the Puteri Indonesia 2023 program showcases beauty in line with global standards of femininity and beauty. This is evident from the clothing, makeup, and the way the finalists speak and interact. Additionally, aspects of intelligence and behavior are also evaluated, with the finalists expected to have extensive knowledge and a graceful demeanor. The program uses visual and symbolic elements to create an ideal image of beauty that encompasses physical appearance, intelligence, and behavior. Although the representation of beauty in this program aligns with common beauty standards, the Puteri Indonesia 2023 pageant also shows a slight shift by not merely displaying physical beauty but also expanding the meaning of beauty through the concepts of "brain," "beauty," and "behavior." This research enhances our understanding of how media shapes our perception of beauty through visual and symbolic representation. These findings are expected to be useful for further research on gender and beauty representation in mass media.

Abstract

This research aims to describe Ruang Imajiku's marketing communication strategy for increasing customer interest through Instagram as well as the features that Ruang Imajiku uses in marketing on Instagram. This research uses a qualitative method with a marketing communication approach. The source of data for this research is the owners, employees, and visitors of the Imajiku Room. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses an inductive model with data reduction, data presentation, and documentation. The results of this study show that Ruang ImajiKu has succeeded in increasing customer interest through Instagram with marketing communication strategies such as regular promotions and creative content. High-quality content that is relevant to your audience's interests, as well as creativity in keeping up with the latest trends, plays an important role in their strategy. Imajiku Space also leverages Instagram features such as Snapgram, Highlights, and Reels to create engaging and interactive content. The use of these features helps increase their presence on Instagram and attract more visitors to the café. The success of this strategy can be seen from good interaction with followers and an increase in the number of visitors to the café.

Abstract

The results showed that the form of da'wah message produced was the call to pray, the wearing of headscarves and clothing such as robes (gamis) specifically for men when going to pray, the process of ta'aruf, which is interpreted as not allowed to date, not cutting off the relationship between friends and relatives even though they are married, and the karma of a wife to her husband, namely by kissing her husband's hand when he is about to travel in order to get sustenance. Then the representation of the da'wah message contained in the 172 Days film is the existence of spiritual awareness, moral teaching, self-development, relationships with others, struggle and fortitude, family values and brotherhood, and responsibility and trust.The method used in analyzing the da'wah message in the 172 Days film is by selecting 5 (five) scenes from 87 scenes contained in the 172 Days film, namely scenes 1, 14, 26, 29, and 32. Implications The results of this study can contribute scientific thoughts and ideas, as well as enrich the treasure trove of knowledge about semiotic analysis.The existence of this research can be a trigger for the presence of similar research by collaborating communication science with studies on da'wah science. In the context of the object of research, namely drama movie shows, it is hoped that it will be able to open a broader understanding of mass media and the problems that surround it. The results of this study can contribute scientific thoughts and ideas, as well as enrich the treasure trove of knowledge about semiotic analysis.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is how the management of PT. Zam Zam Utama's Umrah service improves the quality of religious tourism. In this study there are two formulations of the problem 1) How is the standard of PT. Zam Zam's Umrah service in improving the quality of religious tourism. 2) What are the challenges faced by religious tourism managers in providing services to PT. Zam Zam Utama's Umrah pilgrims? This type of research is descriptive-qualitative with a research approach related to the science of Hajj and Umrah management. The type of data processed is primary data obtained from interviews with six informants: commissioners, secretaries, marketing staff, public relations and documentation, and alumni of PT. Zam-Zam Utama; secondary data analyzed through data collection, data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the service standards of PT. Zam Zam Utama are four, namely: 1) Manasik services by providing professional and experienced speakers in the field of Umrah so that it is easier for pilgrims to understand during the manasik. 2) Adequate facilities and accommodation, 3) Pilgrim health services; 4) Appointing professional tour guides and tour leaders with professional tour guides and tour leaders will make pilgrims feel satisfied when visiting because the information provided is clear and easy to understand. The challenges faced by religious tourism managers in providing services to Umrah pilgrims are: 1) language differences; 2) completeness of pilgrim files; and 3) delays in pilgrims arriving at the airport. The implications in this study are that PT. Zam Zam Utama is expected to maintain the quality of service standards, especially in determining tour guides and tour leaders, because tour guides and tour leaders can make pilgrims satisfied with the services provided by tour guides and tour leaders.
