Abstract

The aim of this research is development to increase students' learning motivation at Al Falah Gondanglegi Middle School. This learning media is made based on material that is adapted to students' level of thinking, so that students no longer have difficulty understanding the material presented in learning, especially discussion texts. This type of research uses research and development (R&D) methods in this research using five steps, namely analysis, planning, development, implementation and evaluation which produces a product and then tests the effectiveness of the product. This research develops learning media using the Canva application for discussion text material for middle school class IX. The results of research on media expert validation obtained a percentage of 72.5%. with a very good/valid category. This means that learning media using the Canva application is suitable/valid for use in learning. Then the level of effectiveness of learning media using the Canva application increases students' learning motivation. Motivation before using the media (pre test) and after using the media (post test) obtained a difference/comparison value of 84 and 89. Based on the results of the comparison of the two, using the N-Gain formula the value obtained was 0.31 in the good category/ effective enough.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of rhetorical styles in the 2024 presidential debates in Indonesia. In a political context, presidential debates are crucial moments where candidates present their vision, mission, and ideologies to the public. This research focuses on how candidates use rhetorical styles to express their views, respond to current issues, and persuade the public of their leadership capabilities. The study employs a qualitative method with descriptive analysis to examine the types of rhetorical styles used, such as satire, sarcasm, and others. Additionally, it explores how arguments are constructed during the debates. The results indicate that the rhetorical styles used by the candidates play a significant role in shaping public perception and political dynamics. Negative rhetorical styles tend to exacerbate polarization and can harm the candidate’s image, while positive and constructive rhetorical styles can enhance public support.This study is expected to contribute to the development of linguistic sciences and provide insights into effective political communication strategies. Furthermore, it offers valuable feedback for political practitioners and the general public in understanding the importance of using proper and effective language in political contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the implementation of using the skipping technique is an effort to improve reading content comprehension through online libraries (class VII students of MTs Daarus Salam Bantur). This research is a descriptive qualitative research. This study aims to increase students' reading speed and students' reading comprehension. With the skipping technique as an effort to increase understanding of reading content, it is hoped that it will be able to increase students' reading interest, reading speed and reading comprehension. Applying speed reading skills is very important for the development of science and technology today. The ability to read fast is a type of reading that prioritizes speed, without leaving an understanding of aspects of reading. The results of this study are expected to be useful for students and future researchers to conduct similar research related to speed reading techniques in learning Indonesian and reading literacy activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the values ​​of struggle in the novel Sagaras by Tere Liye, using a sociology of literature approach. This study is a qualitative literature study. The data sources used are quotations containing the values ​​of struggle in the novel Sagaras by Tere Liye. The data collection technique in this study uses documentation studies, searching for or finding data about things or variables in the form of notes or quotations, transcripts, books, newspapers and so on. The data analysis technique used is the document review technique, by recording important contents in the document using the content analysis method, data reduction method, and interpretation method. The results of this study are the values ​​of struggle which overall there are 53 data, from each of these struggle values ​​there are 5 values ​​of struggle, including the value of willingness to sacrifice there are 8 data, the value of unity 14 data, the value of respect 14 data, the value of enthusiasm and never giving up 14 data and the value of cooperation 6 data. The five values ​​of struggle are then studied for their benefits in solving various problems faced. In its application, the researcher explains the benefits of the values ​​of struggle to be applied in community life or in the world of education to build national character based on struggle so as not to give up easily, and not cause division among each other. Especially in the values ​​of struggle contained in the novel Sagaras by Tere Liye.

Abstract

This research examines the Deixis Study in the Novel " Dad's Wallet Mom's Shoes " by J.S Khairen. The formulation of the problem in this research is what the form of deixis is in the novel Dad's Wallet Mom's Shoes by J.S Khairen. Looking at the problem formulation, of course there is a research objective, namely explaining the form of deixis in the novel Dad's Wallet Mom's Shoes by J.S Khairen. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. This research focuses on the study of Persona Deixis, Space and Time in the dialogue of the novel Dad's Wallet Mom's Shoes by J.S Khairen. The use of Persona deixis in the novel Dad's Wallet Mom's Shoes by J.S Khairen can be seen from the examples of deixis found in the novel as follows: (1) Persona Deixis: me, me, -my, my-, we, us, you, -mu, you, you guys, he, -his, he, they. (2) Space Deixis: there, here, there, this way, where, that, this, there. (3) Time Deixis: later, tomorrow, past, now, yesterday, the day before yesterday, earlier. The total number of peronsa deixis in the novel Dad's Wallet Mom's Shoes by J.S Khairen is 534 data. For time deixis, 58 data were found. Meanwhile, for spatial deixis, 58 data were found.

Abstract

Literature in the pesantren tradition functions not only as an aesthetic expression but also as a moral, spiritual, and ideological apparatus. This article critically explores the relationship between religious symbolism and aesthetic repression in the literary practices at a pesantren in Jember, focusing on the dichotomy between legitimized religious literature (such as nadhoman, Barzanji, Burdah, and Seket Aqoid) and repressed modern literature (such as novels and contemporary poetry). Using a qualitative case study design, the findings reveal that pesantren authorities construct a literary hierarchy through institutionalized values, moral surveillance, and the restriction of narrative forms perceived as misaligned with communal norms. Theoretical frameworks of symbolic power (Pierre Bourdieu), ideological apparatuses (Louis Althusser), and body discipline (Michel Foucault) illuminate how literature becomes a medium for subduing imagination and producing symbolic obedience. This article contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on literature, Islamic education, and cultural power within closed religious communities.

Abstract

The Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology have presented new opportunities in education, one of which is the use of Canva AI. This article aims to explore the potential, implementation, and challenges of Canva AI as an interactive Indonesian language learning medium at the high school/vocational school level. The research method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), analyzing various articles, proceedings, research reports, and other relevant academic sources related to the use of Canva AI and digital media in language learning. The study results show that Canva AI features, such as Magic Write, Magic Design, Text-to-Image, and Canva Code, support teachers in designing more efficient, creative, and adaptive teaching materials, while aligning with the spirit of the Independent Curriculum. Canva AI enables the creation of multimodal content in the form of posters, infographics, presentations, and video narratives that are contextualized to students' needs. This not only makes it easier for teachers to prepare teaching materials but also encourages active student engagement through collaborative activities and project-based learning. The integration of Canva AI has also been shown to increase student motivation, interest in reading and writing, and creativity, while providing a more varied and innovative learning environment than conventional methods. However, the use of Canva AI still faces several challenges, such as the risk of over-reliance on automated output, the potential for homogeneity of work, limited teacher digital literacy, and the need for adequate technological infrastructure support. In conclusion, Canva AI plays a crucial role as a relevant, innovative, and inclusive pedagogical companion in Indonesian language learning in high schools (SMA/SMK). This study enriches the literature on digital education in Indonesia and provides recommendations for teachers and schools in optimizing AI technology to achieve creative, interactive learning that meets the demands of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the speaking skills of children at the Taslimiyah Orphanage in the process of acquiring Indonesian as a second language from a sociolinguistic perspective. The focus of the study is directed at six components of speaking skills, namely fluency, pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary, grammar, and interaction, as well as the influence of the social environment on children's language use. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained through participant observation, informal interviews, and documentation of verbal interactions of children aged 5–10 years who were selected purposively. Data analysis techniques refer to the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with data validation through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study indicate that children have been able to use Indonesian functionally in daily communication, although there are still limitations in aspects of pronunciation, sentence structure, and the tendency to code-switch with regional languages. Variations in speaking skills are influenced by age, intensity of interaction, and the multilingual social environment of the orphanage. The conclusion of this study confirms that the speaking skills of orphanage children reflect the process of second language acquisition which occurs naturally and contextually, and is greatly influenced by social factors and language habits in the surrounding environment.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the social values ​​contained in the novel Tanah Para Bandit by Tere Liye. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using Zubaidi's social value theory which divides social values ​​into 3 categories which include (1) Values ​​of Love, (2) Values ​​of Responsibility, and (3) Values ​​of harmony in life. This research uses the literary sociology approach of Renne Wellek & Austin Werren, they divide the study of the sociology of literature into 3 categories, namely the sociology of authors, the sociology of literary works, the sociology of literature. The primary data source used is in the form of quotations contained in the novel Tanah Para Bandit by Tere Liye which contain social values ​​in the novel. Secondary data obtained in this research is in the form of books, journals, articles, which discuss social values ​​in novels. Meanwhile, the data collection technique used in this research is by reading the entire novel Tanah Para Bandit by Tere Liye, then marking sentences, phrases or quotations that contain social values ​​with codes, then finally analyzing them and making conclusions. The results of this research are the manifestation of social values ​​contained in the novel Tanah Para Bandit by Tere Liye. There are 60 data regarding social values ​​in the novel, consisting of 24 values ​​of love, 20 values ​​of responsibility, and values ​​of harmony in life as many as 16 data.
