Abstract

This study aims to analyze the adaptation of accounting practices in Indonesia and Malaysia within the context of globalization, focusing on the cultural differences that influence the implementation of accounting standards. In the era of globalization, companies in both countries face challenges in enhancing transparency and accountability in their financial reports. The research method employed is qualitative analysis, gathering data from relevant literature, interviews with accounting professionals, and case studies of companies in both countries. The findings of the study reveal that, while Indonesia and Malaysia are working to adopt International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), there are significant differences in how the two countries apply accounting practices. In Indonesia, accounting practices are still influenced by local cultural values and a more flexible legal system, while Malaysia demonstrates a higher and more consistent level of IFRS adoption. These findings emphasize the importance of considering cultural and legal contexts in adapting accounting practices. This research makes a significant contribution to stakeholders, including companies and regulators, in understanding the challenges and opportunities in improving accounting practices in the era of globalization. Additionally, it identifies the need for better training and education for accounting professionals in both countries. Therefore, this study is expected to serve as a reference for future research on the adaptation of accounting practices in developing countries.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology, particularly in data analytics, has significantly impacted management accounting practices and strategic decision-making. This study aims to analyze the role of data analytics in management accounting and its impact on strategic decision-making in competitive markets. This study proposes a new framework that integrates data analytics into management accounting, focusing on its application in improving decision-making accuracy, competitive advantage, and operational efficiency. The methodology employed is a literature-based review, examining relevant journal articles, books, and industry reports. Secondary data is used to assess the impact of data analytics in management accounting and strategic decision-making. The findings reveal that the implementation of data analytics in management accounting improves budgeting and forecasting accuracy, provides a competitive advantage through faster market responses, and enhances operational efficiency by reducing costs and streamlining processes. The analysis indicates that while there are challenges such as technological barriers, organizational resistance, and ethical issues, the opportunities presented by data analytics in management accounting are significant. Proper implementation can support more accurate and efficient strategic decision-making, improving a company’s competitive positioning. Future research could focus on exploring the application of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in management accounting. Additionally, further investigation into the impact of data privacy regulations and ethical challenges is needed.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on firm value and examines the role of corporate diversification between EPU and firm value. The research utilizes data from food and beverage companies in three countries Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand covering the period from 2019 to 2023, with 530 observations from 106 companies. It employs index-based measures for EPU and corporate diversification. Data is processed using Eviews 12, with the selected regression analysis model being the Random Effect Model (REM). The results indicate that diversification has a positive and significant effect on firm value, while EPU does not have a significant influence. Additionally, diversification cannot moderate the negative effects of EPU on firm value. Control variables positively influence firm value, including dividends, debt ratio, and operating cash flow.
