Abstract

East Java has the highest GDP value in the tertiary sector. According to the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC), economic growth in the tertiary sector should lead to improvements in environmental quality. However, the high value of greenhouse gas emissions indicates a decline in environmental quality. This research aims to analyze the EKC for the primary sector GDP, secondary sector GDP, and tertiary sector GDP in relation to greenhouse gas emissions. The time series data from 1990 to 2022 were sourced from the Badan Pusat Statistik and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method was used. The results showed that the primary sector GDP and tertiary sector GDP had a positive and significant effect on greenhouse gas emissions. The secondary sector GDP had a negative and significant effect on greenhouse gas emissions. Overall, the effect was significant. The primary sector GDP and secondary sector GDP aligned with the EKC, while the tertiary sector GDP contradicted it. The inverted U-shape of the EKC did not occur. Despite the high contribution of the tertiary sector, there was a decline in environmental quality. Policy recommendations include maintaining environmental quality, particularly in relation to greenhouse gas emissions, in both the primary and tertiary sectors.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which fiscal decentralization and regional retribution affect the inflation rate in the provinces of Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and East Java. The research can serve as a reference for the government in managing fiscal decentralization funds (DBH, DAU, and DAK) as well as regional retribution. The researchers used a quantitative approach and the method employed in this study is multiple linear regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results show that the ratio of DBH to inflation has a negative effect on inflation in the provinces of Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and East Java. The ratio of DAU to inflation also has a negative effect, the ratio of DBH to inflation has a negative effect, and regional retribution has a positive but insignificant effect on inflation. The study examines the extent of the effect of fiscal decentralization funds (DBH, DAU, and DAK) and regional retribution on inflation in the provinces of Java Island, namely Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and East Java, excluding DKI Jakarta. This is because the fiscal gap in general allocation funds in DKI Jakarta is covered by regional income, so there is no transfer of central income to DKI Jakarta in the form of general allocation funds.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors influencing labor demand in Indonesia during the 2015-2023 period. The background of this research is based on the importance of inclusive and stable economic growth to improve public welfare by increasing employment opportunities. Labor demand in this study is measured based on several key variables, namely Real Wages, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and Investment. The analysis method used is the Panel Data Fixed Effect Model (FEM). This study uses secondary data obtained from the Badan Pusat Statistik and other relevant reports. The results show that, partially, Real Wages and GRDP have a significant effect on Labor Demand, while Investment does not have a partial effect on Labor Demand.

Abstract

Urban poverty in six cities in Central Java Province is an interesting issue to analyze in relation to the factors that influence it. This study analyzes the issue of urban poverty because regional economic development is partly determined by how cities can grow. The objective of this research is to analyze the effect of urbanization, human capital, and unemployment on urban poverty in six cities in Central Java Province from 2015 to 2021. This study uses quantitative data sourced from publications by the Badan Pusat Statistik of Central Java Province. The method used is multiple linear regression with panel data, where the dependent variable is the percentage of the poor population, while the independent variables include urbanization (in-migration), human capital (HDI), and unemployment in the cities of Magelang, Surakarta, Tegal, Semarang, Pekalongan, and Salatiga from 2015 to 2021. The results of the study show that urbanization has a positive and significant effect on poverty, human capital has a negative and significant effect on poverty, and unemployment has a positive and significant effect on poverty.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of climate factors on rice production in East Java, including variables such as rainfall, maximum temperature, and minimum annual temperature. The objective of this research is to determine how climate influences rice production in East Java. The study employs multiple regression analysis techniques, which allow for the estimation of long-term and short-term cointegration relationships among the analyzed variables. The results indicate that fluctuations in rainfall have a negative effect on rice production in East Java, while minimum and maximum temperature variables positively influence rice production in the region. The originality of this study lies in its provision of new insights into the effects of climate change on rice productivity in East Java, along with policy recommendations for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Abstract

Human resources are one of the main factors in economic growth. Human resources plays a significant role in providing labor to produce goods and services in an economy. However, a large number of labor force could cause problems. Massive increases in the labor force without sufficient labor absorption could lead to unemployment. Unemployment is a problem that is often faced by local governments, one of which is Bali Province. This research aims to analyze the influence of minimum wages, domestic investment, and foreign investment on labor absorption in Bali Province. The data used is secondary data from the Bali Province Central Statistics Agency for the period of 1994 – 2023. By using multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Squares method, this research proved that minimum wage and foreign investment have a positive and significant effect on labor absorption, while domestic investment has a positive but not significant effect on labor absorption in Bali Province.
