Abstract

This financial technology innovation continues to develop along with changes in people's lifestyles. Financial services that provide online loan facilities are currently trending as a means of payment for several large e-commerce in Indonesia. Shopee is e-commerce that has a PayLater facility as an alternative method of shopping transactions that provides loan funds under the name Shopee PayLater. The use of Shopee PayLater makes it easy for consumers to shop online through the Shopee marketplace even though they don't have enough funds to shop. This research is a quantitative study with a conclusive research design to determine the effect of trust and ease on purchasing decisions using online loans. Sampling technique on this research used judgmental sampling and snowball sampling with a sample size of 110 respondents that Shopee users. Which are Shopee users have once made transactions using ShopeePayLater. The results of this study indicate there is a significant positive influence between trust and ease of purchasing decisions using online loans. Based on the result, it is recommended that Shopee PayLater make pay attention and make sure that this application has guaranteed security, so it can build a good image to increase the trust and have an impact to purchase decisions towards online loans Shopee PayLater.

Abstract

Financial distress causes the company to restructure or even going bankrupt. It means the prediction of financial distress is important to anticipate the occurrence of bankruptcy. This study aimed to determine the effect of financial ratios, managerial ownership, and institutional ownership on financial distress. The independent variables used in this study are the current ratio, debt to assets ratio, return on assets, total assets turnover, managerial ownership, and institutional ownership. This research’s population is sector trade, services, and investment firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015-2018. It implements purposive sampling techniques and finally obtained 15 firms as samples. The research then is analyzed using logistic regression and calculated using SPSS software version 25. The result showed that debt to assets ratio had a positive significance on financial distress and return on assets had a negative significant effect on financial distress. While the other variables of total assets turnover, current ratio, managerial ownership, institutional ownership don’t have a significant effect on financial distress. Therefore, the companies are expected to pay attention to increasing the value of debt to assets ratio and return on assets to avoid the possibility of financial distress.

Abstract

Korean wave's existence makes Indonesian people interested in Korean cosmetics. One of the most favored Korean cosmetic brands in Indonesia is the Nature Republic, they have problems regarding the counterfeiting and illegal smuggling of some of their products. The purpose of this research is to analyze and discuss the influence of product quality and brand image on Nature Republic consumer purchasing decisions in the city of Surabaya. This research is a conclusive study with quantitative data analysis. Using a non-probability sampling technique with judgmental sampling. The number of samples in this study amounted to 110 respondents. The technique of collecting data using questionnaires that are used a Likert scale as the measurement and using multiple linear regression analysis techniques with application computer program SPSS 25 for Windows. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that product quality has a significant influence on purchasing decisions with a significant value of 0.003. As well as the brand image variable which has a significant value of 0,000, so that the brand image variable is known to have a significant influence on purchasing decisions. The indicator with the highest value of product quality is the impression of quality, then the brand image is the product image. Based on the results and discussion of the research, the managerial implications that can be applied are maintaining and improving product quality and brand image to increase consumer demand, have a competitive advantage, and benefit the company in terms of market expansion.

Abstract

Financial distress is a condition that occurs before a company goes bankrupt, so before that happens, the company needs to take actions such as good corporate governance practices. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the audit committee, ownership structure, and CEO on financial distress in trading, service, and investment companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2015-2018. The analysis technique used is logistic regression analysis. This type of research is quantitative by using a sample of 25 companies determined through a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the frequency of audit committee meetings had a significant and positive impact on financial distress, and institutional ownership had a significant and negative impact on financial distress. While the other variables include: audit committee size, audit committee competence, audit committee independence, managerial ownership, family ownership, government ownership, foreign ownership, block holder ownership, and CEO's gender do not have a significant impact on financial distress. Implications of the results in this study are considering the frequency of audit committee meetings and the percentage of institutional ownership in predicting financial distress that can be used by companies and potential investors.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to study the relationships among city branding, e-WOM (electronic word of mouth), and tourist’s intention for visiting. The study focused on the tourists who would visit Batu City as the sample by using a nonprobability sampling technique. Questionnaires were distributed to 200 participants by google forms. Data analysis techniques were Multiple Linear Regression with validity and reliability test, classic assumption, and hypothesis test (t-test). The results indicated that city branding is positively influenced by the tourist’s intention for visiting, but e-WOM is negatively influenced by the tourist’s intention for visiting. The implications in this study can be used as input for the Batu City Government in developing the city branding “Shining Batu” to increase tourist’s intention for visiting.

Abstract

Financial performance evaluates how successful the company has achieved business activities. The purpose of this research is to analyze if financial performance (ROA) affected by firm size, investment opportunity set (IOS), dividend (DPR), audit committee, and capital structure (DAR). Also the mediation effect of capital structure in the audit committee to financial performance. Population in this research  is 56 property sector companies on BEI (www.idx.co.id). The sample in this research is 28 property companies (period 2014-2018) chosen by purposive sampling. This study uses a type of conclusive causal. The data analysis technique used path analysis with IBM SPSS 20. The results show that IOS has a significant effect on financial performance. Firm size, dividend & capital structure has a significant negative effect on financial performance. The audit committee does not significant to financial performance and capital structure (DAR). And also capital structure (DAR) does not mediate the audit committee to financial performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and explain the effects of employee empowerment, teamwork and training on job satisfaction at Human Resource Management and Marketing & Customer Services of PDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya with a sample size of 60 respondents to employees at Human Resource Management and Marketing & Customer Services of PDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya. The statistical analysis used in this study was SPSS. The results of this study indicate that employee empowerment does not affect job satisfaction, teamwork does not affect job satisfaction and training has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction.
