Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of health cadres in monitoring the growth and development of children aged 0–5 years in Banjar Mambang Gede, Mambang Village, Selemadeg Timur District, Tabanan Regency, Bali. The main problem faced by the partners is the limited understanding of cadres regarding child anatomy, cognitive development, and language stimulation through children's literature. The methods used include offline counseling with an interactive educational approach using PowerPoint presentations, anatomical videos, anatomy-based applications, and hands-on practice through storybooks, children's poetry, and educational games. The activity begins with a pre-test and ends with a post-test to evaluate the improvement of cadres' knowledge. The results of the activity show an increase in cadres’ understanding of anatomical, cognitive, and early childhood language stimulation aspects, with a minimum target of 80% of participants being able to understand and apply the provided materials. In addition, cadres demonstrated improved skills in educating parents and in conducting more optimal posyandu (integrated health service post) activities. The outputs of this activity include increased cadre capacity, scientific publications, and activity documentation.

Abstract

The goal of this community service project was to raise the Eco Rangers' level of knowledge and proficiency in handling domestic waste in Bilebante Tourism Village, Central Lombok. Interviews, observations, questionnaires, and the fishbone diagram method were used to diagnose the community issue. Counseling and hands-on activities based on the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) were then conducted. The findings demonstrated that participants' knowledge had increased, with 58.3% acknowledging the health benefits of waste separation and 66.7% comprehending the 3R concept. Furthermore, over 65% of participants said they were extremely satisfied with the activity. In Bilebante Tourism Village, this program successfully promoted constructive community behavior regarding waste management and enhanced public health and environmental quality.

Abstract

The partners in this community service program were families with toddlers and Posyandu cadres in Gumbrih Village, Jembrana Regency, Bali. The main problems identified were the lack of knowledge regarding balanced nutrition for toddlers, the dangers of fast food, and the limited utilization of cocoa as a nutritious food source. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of Posyandu cadres and families with toddlers regarding healthy eating patterns and skills in processing cocoa into nutritious yogurt. The methods included interactive education sessions, cocoa yogurt-making training, hands-on practice, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test assessments. The activity involved 10 participants, consisting of Posyandu cadres and families with toddlers. The results showed an increase in the participants’ average knowledge score from 60 to 86.7, representing a 44.40% improvement. In addition, participants were able to independently practice making cocoa yogurt during the mentoring process. This activity had a positive impact on improving community nutrition literacy, encouraging the utilization of local cocoa-based food products, and supporting healthy dietary patterns and local economic development.

Abstract

Osteoporosis is a health problem that predominantly affects adults and the elderly, particularly women, resulting in a decreased quality of life and an increased risk of fractures. One preventative measure is to increase knowledge about healthy posture and the use of local natural ingredients that can benefit bone health. This Community Service activity aims to increase the knowledge of women members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) regarding functional anatomy related to posture and osteoporosis prevention, as well as to improve their skills in making the traditional health drink, loloh beras kencur. The activity methods included outreach, health education, practical training in making loloh beras kencur, mentoring, and evaluation using pre- and post-tests. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in partner knowledge based on a paired t-test (p < 0.05). Furthermore, partners were able to independently process and package loloh beras kencur, while maintaining hygiene and product quality principles. This activity has had a positive impact on increasing partner health awareness and skills and has the potential to be developed as a sustainable education program and economic empowerment program based on local ingredients.

Abstract

Bonjeruk Village is a culture-based tourism destination with significant potential for community empowerment. However, the PAWON 21 community within this village continues to face challenges related to suboptimal waste management, which poses health and environmental risks. This study aimed to identify environmental issues using a community diagnosis approach and implement community-based interventions. The methods employed included direct observation, structured interviews, and questionnaire distribution among community members. Problem prioritization was conducted using the PAHO (Pan American Health Organization) method. The analysis identified waste management as the most pressing issue. To address this, targeted interventions were implemented, including educational sessions and the provision of supporting infrastructure. The results showed an increase in community awareness and participation in waste management efforts. These findings underscore the effectiveness of community diagnosis and simple, focused interventions in enhancing community engagement toward creating a cleaner and healthier environment sustainably.
