Abstract

To  pass the examination, the most important thing to be considered by the students is the examination preparation. There are so many kinds of examination faced by the students, one of it is national examination. Therefore, the national examination should be prepared well by the students, school, and parents since it is a tool to measure students competency of achievement which held by education unit in order to obtain learning confession and it is a requirement of finishing education level. This research is aimed to describe and differentiate the preparation of students with high learning achievement and the students with low learning achievement in facing national examination. This is a comparative quantitative descriptive approach supported with interview. The target of the research is students of SMA Adabiah Padang of academic year 2012/2013, with 327 students as the population. There are 80 students placed as sample. The research finding reveals that (1) physical preparation of students with high learning achievement and the students with low learning achievement in facing national examination is in well prepared category (2) psychology preparation for both students with high learning achievement and the students with low learning achievement is in well prepared category, (3) the preparation in mastering the learning material for both students with high learning achievement and the students with low learning achievement is in well prepared category,(4) the analysis of t test result reveals that there is a significant difference between students with high learning achievement and the students with low learning achievement of SMA Adabiah Padang

Abstract

The goal of counseling, among other thing,   is to develop an internal locus of control of a clients. Research, especially in western cultures, has shown that those with an internal locus of control were correlated to their characters, they are:  hard work, problem solving skilss, optimistic, engaging in social activities and high in achievement motivation. However, for clients who are not from western cultures a tendency to foster an internal locus of control in the counseling process should be considered properly. This paper describes how to  enhance client’s internal locus of control for those who do not embrace western cultures

Abstract

This research conduct base from increasing the National Examination standards from recent years, and overload student’s learning activity in Senior High School (SMA). These conditions as triggers stress students, from a long time, its influence on their learning. Based that, the research is to identify level of student academic stress, and differences base gender, and school location. This research use Cluster Random Sampling. Samples are grouped into 3 (three), that’s school is located in downtown, midtown and the Suburbs. Research findings show that there are 15% of student’s stress academic at low levels of, 71,8% experiencing stress academic at medium level, and 13.2% of students experiencing stress academic at high level. There was no significant difference between the academic stress Student SMAN in Padang by location and gender. These research findings can then be an important basic need for guidance and counseling services in order to decrease the level of stress of academic students in Padang city, so that they can learn by making every effort that is optimal.

Abstract

Self-efficacy is a strong factor in determining a person to act, think and react when faced with situations that are not fun. Students with high self-efficacy tend to have persistent effort, diligent, tenacious and persevering. This research use descriptive- quantitative methodology to indentify level of self efficacy of counseling students specifically will be identified by gender, and ethnicity. This research will identify self efficacy based on differences of gender, and ethnicity.  This research use random and purposive random sampling of 45 counseling students from University. These studies identify of self efficacy 31, 1% in low, 66, 7% medium and 2,2 in high condition. Further, there is no significant difference in the level of self efficacy based on gender, and the ethnicity.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to reveal the readiness of guidance and counseling teachers toward Teacher’s Performance Assesment (TPA) at the quality of their understanding and attitude by using quantitative-descriptive method.The subject of this research is all guidance and counseling teachers at State Senior High Schools and State Vocational High School in Batu Bara District, North Sumatera Province. The number of the research subjects is 33 persons. Semantic differential model scale is the instrument being used in this research to measure the understanding and attitude of research subjects toward TPA.Statistic technique of Mann Whitney U is used to compare the data of two independent samples, and of  Kruskal Wallis One Way Anova is used to compare the data of more than two independent samples, and Correlation Product Moment to see the correlation of the data.Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the readiness scores of research subjects toward TPA are not in good category

Abstract

The problem of drug abuse has penetrated up to the world of education, including SMP. Many ways that could be used by guidance and counseling teachers or counselors to enhance students' understanding of the dangers of drug abuse, one of them by using the media as an exciting learning modules. Module was one of tools that addresses learning about a subject systematically arranged and sequentially to facilitate students achieve and master a targeted competencies along with guidelines for the use of teachers. This study aimed: (1) to formulate guidance and counseling module for drug abuse prevention in school-appropriate content to be used by guidance and counseling teacher or counselor, and (2) to describe the level of applicability formulation guidance and counseling module for drug abuse prevention in school by guidance and counseling teacher or counselor. This research was conducted using development research methods, with guided model development step ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects of the trial research were (1) the content expert, and (2) the target users of the product, was guidance and counseling teacher or counselor, who was taken by using purposive sampling method, in order to obtain test subjects research, namely 3 content experts, and 3 people guidance and counseling teacher or counselor. This study was conducted with a limited research product tested and the data was analyzed descriptively. The results of the research showed that: (1) guidance and counseling module to prevent drug abuse, as a content was very feasible for used by students and guidance and counseling teachers or counselors in implementation of service, (2) the level of guidance module and counseling applicability to prevent of drug abuse rated very high for used by students. Based on these results of the research, generally, it could be concluded that the research products produced were feasible and could be used to help students in the context of prevention of drug abuse in schools. Finally the research product was highly recommended to be introduced and used by guidance and counseling teacher or counselor at school in SMP.
