Abstract

The rapid advancement of science, technology, and digitalization has contributed to the emergence of new terminologies and linguistic phenomena. One of the most distinctive linguistic processes in Arabic is acronym formation (anḥāt), which has been widely studied in the field of Arabic linguistics. This study aims to analyze the formation, classification, and application of acronyms in modern Arabic by examining both classical and contemporary linguistic sources. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this research investigates the linguistic principles governing acronym formation in Arabic, drawing from traditional works such as Al-Ṣāḥibī fī Fiqh al-Lugha by Ibn Fāris and Al-Muzhir by Al-Suyūṭī, as well as modern linguistic studies. The findings reveal that acronym formation in Arabic follows specific phonological and morphological patterns, with four primary types: verbal, nominal, attributive, and relative acronyms. Additionally, the study highlights the increasing use of acronyms in scientific, technological, and media discourse, reflecting the evolving nature of the Arabic language. The study concludes that acronym formation serves as a mechanism for linguistic economy and efficiency, facilitating the integration of new terminologies while preserving Arabic’s morphological integrity. Further research is recommended to explore the sociolinguistic impact of acronyms and their role in modern Arabic standardization.

Abstract

This systematic literature review (SLR) synthesizes assessment and evaluation practices in Arabic Language Teaching (ALT) based on Scopus-indexed publications from 2020 to 2025. This review appears to be among the earliest dedicated SLRs focusing specifically on assessment and evaluation in ALT, prior reviews in this domain have primarily addressed teaching methods, instructional media, or curriculum development, with assessment examined only tangentially. Guided by PRISMA 2020 and the PICo research question structure, a Boolean search string was applied to the Scopus TITLE-ABS-KEY field via Publish or Perish, yielding 122 initial records. After dual-reviewer independent screening (Cohen's κ = 0.81) and full-text eligibility assessment, 28 studies were included. Quality appraisal using an adapted MMAT/CASP checklist yielded predominantly high-quality studies (n=22, 78.6%) with a subset rated moderate quality (n=6, 21.4%), reflecting the heterogeneous methodological landscape of ALT assessment research. Narrative synthesis informed by Bachman and Palmer's (1996) validity framework, Black and Wiliam's (1998) formative assessment theory, and Kane's (2013) argument validity approach identified five thematic clusters: summative and achievement testing, technology-enhanced assessment, program evaluation, formative and diagnostic assessment, and AI-based evaluation. AI-mediated assessment emerged as a dominant trend from 2023 onward. Reading comprehension (35.7%) and oral proficiency (21.4%) dominate the skill focus. Six critical research gaps are identified, including the near-absence of formative assessment research, insufficient psychometric validation of digital instruments, and unaddressed ethical dimensions of AI-based assessment.

Abstract

The Arabic language plays a fundamental role in understanding the Quran, as it is the language chosen by Allah for His divine revelation. The grammatical and morphological rules of Arabic are crucial in preserving the Quran’s authenticity and ensuring accurate interpretation of its messages. This study aims to analyze the syntactic and morphological structures found in the Quran and explore their application in comprehending Quranic texts. Employing a library research method, this study examines primary sources such as the Quran and linguistic exegeses, including Al-Burhan fi Ulum al-Quran by Al-Zarkashi and I'rab al-Quran by Al-Nahhas. Additionally, classical works on Arabic grammar and morphology, such as Sharh Qatr al-Nada wa Ball al-Sada by Ibn Hisham, provide the theoretical framework for analysis. The findings indicate that grammatical and morphological variations in the Quran significantly influence meaning and interpretation. For instance, changes in i'rab (inflection) and ṣarf (morphological transformations) can alter the syntactic relationships within verses, leading to nuanced meanings. Furthermore, understanding these linguistic elements enhances the exegesis of the Quran, preventing misinterpretation and preserving its linguistic integrity. This study underscores the necessity of mastering Arabic grammar and morphology for scholars, students, and researchers engaged in Quranic studies. Future research should focus on applying modern linguistic approaches to deepen the analysis of Quranic syntax and morphology.

Abstract

Assessment plays a crucial role in measuring learning outcomes and evaluating the effectiveness of instructional strategies. In the digital era, the integration of technology in education has led to the development of various digital assessment tools that enhance the evaluation process in Arabic language learning. This study aims to identify and describe digital assessment tools used for both test-based and non-test-based evaluation. Using a library research method, this study classifies assessment tools into two main categories: (1) test-based digital tools, such as Kahoot, Quizizz, Google Forms, and Wondershare Quizz, which facilitate automated scoring and provide real-time feedback, and (2) non-test-based digital tools, including Padlet, Flipgrid, Google Classroom, and Seesaw, which assess students' affective and psychomotor skills through interactive and reflective learning approaches. The findings indicate that digital assessment tools offer flexibility, efficiency, and increased student engagement in learning. However, their implementation still faces challenges such as technological accessibility, teacher readiness, and connectivity issues. This study highlights the need for effective strategies in integrating digital assessment tools into Arabic language education while ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives. Further research is recommended to examine the impact of these tools on students' learning outcomes across various educational contexts.

Abstract

The integration of technology in education has significantly impacted the development of instructional media, particularly in Arabic language learning. This study aims to develop an instructional video based on the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) to enhance students' engagement and comprehension in Arabic language learning at Salatiyah Vocational High School, Betin. This research follows a research and development (RD) methodology, focusing on analyzing learning needs, designing educational videos, evaluating their effectiveness, and conducting expert validation. The findings indicate that the use of instructional videos enhances students’ motivation, facilitates better retention of information, and provides an engaging learning experience. Expert validation results show that the developed video obtained an 85% validity score, categorized as "Very Good," confirming its suitability as an Arabic learning medium. Additionally, pre-test and post-test comparisons demonstrate a significant improvement in students’ Arabic language proficiency, reinforcing the effectiveness of instructional videos as a learning tool. However, challenges remain in optimizing the use of multimedia-based learning, including teacher readiness, technical constraints, and accessibility issues. This study recommends further exploration of adaptive learning technologies and interactive media to improve Arabic language education in diverse learning environments.

Abstract

Ice Breaking is one of the fun learning strategies, the application of ice breaking is given to children around the KKN location to help children improve their mastery of Arabic mufrodat. In this study, a quantitative research type was used with a Pre-Experimental Design approach with One-Group Pretest-Posttest. Data was collected using observation and test techniques. Data analysis used descriptive statistical data analysis and used the N-Gain Score and was strengthened by the non-parametric Wilcoxon test to find the effect of increasing mastery of mufrodat before and after the implementation of ice breaking. The results of the study proved that the average score of the 15 participants in the pretest was 45 while the average in the posttest was 70 with an average percentage increase of 25%, and the N-Gain Score showed an average result of 0.5178, which means the acquisition of an N value -Gain Score enters the medium category. And the results of the Wilcoxon hypothesis test show the results of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is worth 0.003. Because the value of 0.003 is less than 0.05, it can be concluded that "Ha is accepted". This means that there is an increase in mufrodat mastery for pretest and posttest, so it can be concluded that "there is an effect of the use of ice breaking on mufrodat mastery in learning Arabic in the Thematic KKN program in the Sukamulya Complex, Kel. Tangkiling Kec. Bukit Batu City of Palangka Raya”.
