Abstract

Air ventilation system is required for improvement as well as maintenance room air circumstance which is always clean in the whole day. Effective ventilation will enhance thermal comfort and indoor air quality therefore the productivity of occupant is expected also becomes mo-re intense. This research deals with the influence of supply air diffuser position concerning to thermal comfort and in-door air quality viewpoints. It is inspected four categories of air ventilation system: mixed and displacement ventila-tion used for air supply diffuser position in the centre and at the side of the room. Thermal comfort aspect is demons-trated through velocity and temperature of the room air without considering the value of relative humidity and room surface temperature average). On the other side the indoor air quality is focused on the intensity of the CO2 gas concentration which is appear inside the room gas. It applies Fluent 6.2 as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation, some research variables are exploited. Office room model is generated in GAMBIT software create par-ticular office room design. Analyse result prove that the displacement centre ventilation system has more capability in the handling of room heat in addition to contaminant gas compare to the others.

Abstract

Motorcycle in its operation needs high stability. To improve a stability of motorcycle especially in turning direction is done by many methods. The handling turn inclination angle of motorcycle with addition gyroscopic component will be discussed in this research. Gyroscopic is systems which have function to against from Centrifugal (Fc) force. The aim of using Gyroscopic is to control and handling turn inclination angle to avoid skidding. This research uses of simulation model with input of design and dynamic parameter. Speed variable to be used are 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 km/hour. The simulation is processed by Matlab 7.0.1. The result of research is concluded as : the Gyroscopic has controlled skid performance and inclination angle of motorcycle about 11%.

Abstract

The comparative study of copper accumulation, cadmium and zinc by macro fauna benthic species has been achieved in the Kangean Archipelago and Sura-baya (Indonesia). The preliminary survey had been taken because of the scientific data did not exist on the metallic contamination in the Kangean Archipelago. In compari-son, Surabaya is an industrial city that presents a strong potential contamination of copper; cadmium and zinc refer to the previous studies. The main object of the re-search was comparing the contamination level of the two sites by the slant concentration measurement on the abun-dant of macro fauna benthic species. It would be possible to define the bio indicator species of the contamination in order to use it as the term on the whole inter tropical cen-tre. The results showed that there was a specific differren-tiation between copper and cadmium concentration for Gafrarium tumidum (Kangean) in a varied sizes; Anadara inadequate collected from Kangean had shown the same variation but not for the cadmium concentration. The va-riances analysis of two factors (size vs site) on Anadara inadequate from both of sites showed that there were spe-cific differentiation between copper and zinc concentra-tion, but not for cadmium. Generally, the contamination level of copper, cadmium and zinc in Surabaya is higher than Kangean. The species of Nassarius globosus, Saccos-trea cucullata, Hinia sp and Anadara inadequate can be used to bioindicator species. The Anadara inadequate spe-cies is an ideal bioindicator species for the surveillance of cadmium contamination because they mostly found in the both of sites and accumulated (in average) strongly with 10,98 - 11,31 μg/g dry weight.

Abstract

Wave simulation is important problem in nearshore coastal design process. Determination of proper wave parameter will provide reliable and accurate design, therefore modeling usually needed to simulate this process where numerical model is the right choice because of its cost is cheaper and the result is quite accurate. SWAN (Simulating Wave Nearshore) is numerical model that already used widely to simulate wave in coastal area. In this research we analyze wave refraction by SWAN model with any coastal profile (m) i.e. 0,01 , 0,03 and 0,05. This simulation also applied in the real problem at Tegal port in Central Java Province. According to the result of this model we find that in the same direction, height, and period, the height of wave break will increase as the coastal slope increase. These problems arise due to decreasing in value of db/Hb that means the peak wave is become steep. Coastal Profile affect the wave height (duo to refraction) about 2%-34%. The jetty at Tegal Port induce the wave height big alteration at dock pond (228,91%) at wave direction 30o, while at groove, back and head of the jetty, wave reduction reach until 12,96% ; 0,02% and 3,55% at incoming wave direction 45o. In the head of the jetty, the wave almost doesn’t being reduced because diffraction and wave reflection doesn’t have significant effect.

Abstract

Most of Indonesian fishermen have been using wooden boat. The boat has been used by fishermen in the north shore of East Java are made from Teak and Silk cotton tree. The leakage indication had not been shown on its linkage but on the boat caused by a microor-ganism called biofouling. The research used Colony For-ming Unit method (CFU) and Saburoud Dextrose Agar (SDA) as a fungus counting medium and Nutient Agar (NA) as a bacteria counting medium. Each medium had been adjusted to the microorganism. The result shows that the wood and the paint which were used to build the boat influenced the type of microorganism, fungus, and bac-teria on the boat. Bacteria preferred to stick on the yellow boat, and fungus preferred to stick on the green boat. The microorganism had been identified on the red Nyamplung tree, Kosambi tree, Jackfruit tree, Kamfer tree, and Teak tree are Micrococcus sp, Bacillus sp, and Pseudomonas sp, and all of those are bacteria. The other microorganism had been identified were Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus oryzae, Penicillium sp, Candida sp, Rhodotorulla sp, Saccharomyces sp, Verticillium sp, Paecilomyces sp, Monillia sp, and Altenaria sp, and all of those are fungus.
