Abstract

A sudden discharge of Sidoarjo mud flow into the water bodies would disturb aquatic biota, the fisheries culture. The aim of this research is to evaluate the availability of phytoremediated water of Sidoarjo mud flow (abbreviated: pwmf) as a milkfish culture media using liver histological approach. After two weeks acclimatization period, the juvenile and adult of milkfish were exposed the pwmf at the sub lethal concentration and an acute static bioassay at 96 hours. Control fishes were reared in the artificial brackish water. Each treatment of pwmf exposure was done in three replicates. After exposure, the liver fishes were removed and histologically processed using paraffin method and HE staining. Histopathology change was assessed semi quantitative scoring. The result of the histological analyses suggested the liver pathological features such as vacuolation of hepatocytes, the loss of sinusoid integrity from mild to severe occurrence and necrosis.

Abstract

This paper is an extended research of Coastal Zone Management of Sidoarjo mud phenomenon. The idea is to find special concept of management to control mud flood using reservoir system. This method, in the mud fluid, is intentionally used to make separation of the solid materials from water. The concept is to calculate sediment velocity in order to find the time of sedimentation then to estimate the volume of mud. Therefore, the reservoir will be determined from this calculation. The result of this research is the dimension of the reservoir: area of 3,704,144.36 m2, the depth of 5.94 m, and the volume 22.018.856.07 m3. The time of sedimentation is calculated of 28.33 hours for 42.2 % of material volume sedimentation. Consequently, the suspension material is 57.8 %. The correction of calculation is depending on the calculation of the velocity of sedimentation, about 2 %.

Abstract

During operation, a ship reciprocating engine will vibrate due to the force resulting from the cycle movement of the dynamic components. Soon or later, the vibration will cause wear of engine components. Therefore, the cause of vibration should be early identified so that the propagation of wear can be anticipated. The study modeled the ship reciprocating engine as a two stroke engine, and analyzed one of the causes of the engine vibration, i.e. the force acting on main bearing, using a numerical simulation. An experimental study was also carried out for measuring the acceleration of vibration response due to the numerical dynamic inertia force. The results showed that the dynamic inertia force acting on the main bearing is the main cause of the vibration of engine.

Abstract

Water is the natural resources have the function of very importance for human life and also as authorized capital in development. Water will influence by the other component. Exploiting of water to support all human life must done with wise action to management so that not result damage at water resource. As place relocation of water hence river have the selected capacities that able to change because natural activity and antropogenik. This research was conducted in nine major rivers in East Java. The objectives of this study were: 1) Identifying the characteristics and concestration range of water quality parameter, 2) Comparison the level of pollution in rivers in East Java. The results of this study indicated that the characteristic of water quality parameter of rivers in East Java were generally physical, chemical and biological. The comparison result of water quality parameter basically showed that in general the pH was still under threshold that had been determined, that was pH from 6 to 9. In general, DO concentration ranged from 0.5 mg/l to 7 mg/l, BOD concentration ranged from 3 mg/l to 11 mg/l and the COD concentration ranged between 0.5 mg/liter to 35 mg/l.

Abstract

Thermal Barrier Coating material consists of Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) as a top coat and bond coat NiCoCrAlY. It is used to protect NiCoCrAlY super alloys for high temperature applications due to its corrosion resistant properties and resistance to thermal fatigue. In the present study, top coat and bond coat were deposited on the substrate using plasma spraying process, followed by thermal fatigue treatment, by heating up to 900 oC for 5 hours and cooling down to 25 oC for 15 minutes, this process called one cycle. Thermal fatigue was conducted until the material failure. Electron microscope was used to analysis microstructure of the sample after thermal fatigue and x-ray diffraction to analysis phase changed on the interface between bond coat and substrate. The result showed that the specimens failed at 42 cycles (210 hours). A new phase identified as Ni3Al was formed.

Abstract

This article presents a meta analysis of the experimental and survey literature that has examined the effect of achievement motivation, as a part of the big five personality factors, and entrepreneurial leadership quality. This quantitative study review 20 studies based on independent samples (N = 6209). Summary analysis is provided to support the hypothesis in which the achievement motivation has a correlation with entrepreneurial leadership quality on a fairness procedural. Result indicates that the achievement motivation influences the quality of entrepreneurial leadership in a significant value (rc = 0.26). This finding is relevant to all stakeholders (educators, governments, and parents) to make a better decision on the development of entrepreneurial leadership policies.

Abstract

Titer and cloud point of Distilled Oleic Acid is higher than is the standard on feed composition palmitic acid (C15H31COOH) or C16 11.2 %. Feed composition C16, top temperature precut and bottom main distiller column were optimized to produce DOA. A factorial design with 3 independent variables, 3 X 2 X 3, repeated twice as much, is applied to observe effects of feed composition C16 to quality parameters. In the optimum C16, feed composition at 5.20 % produced DOA with titer 6.8 oC, cloud point 5.0 oC (inside its specification).

Abstract

Multihull due to a couple of advantages has been the topic of extensive research work in naval architecture. In this study, a series of investigation of fishing vessel to save fuel energy was carried out at ITS. Two types of ship models, monohull (round bilge and hard chine) and catamaran, a boat with two hulls (symmetrical and asymmetrical) were developed. Four models were produced physically and numerically, tested (towing tank) and simulated numerically (CFD code). The results of the two approaches indicated that the catamaran mode might have drag (resistance) smaller than those of monohull at the same displacement. A layout of catamaran fishing vessel, proposed here, indicates the freedom of setting the deck equipments for fishing vessel.
