Abstract

The extract of root nodules Vigna radiata (rnVr) which inoculated by Rhizobium is considered beneficial as an orally available anemia therapeutic candidate, because it contain the leghemoglobin. The positive control mice (group I) were fed with the high nutrient pellet.The twelve mice (Mus musculus) was treated with the “taking rice pellet” that representing the low nutrient food for 21 days until they suffered anemia. Then, the anemia mice were treated orally with rnVr in different concentration groups:II. 0% III.33%; IV.67% and V.100%, respectively and fed with the “aking rice pellet”. After 14 days, the blood mice were collected from orbital sinus. The hemoglobin (Hb) concentration were analyzed by spectrophotometry and blood plasma profile protein were analyzed with electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). All anemia mice that treated with rnVr showed the increasing of Hb and group that treated with 100% extract of rnVr could reach a normal Hb value, raising from 9.85 to 12.68 g/dL. There were observed the proteins which have molecule weight 36.5 and 35.7 kDa that indicated the existing erythropoietin. The increasing haemoglobin concentration and erythropoietin suggested if extract of rnVr could increasing red blood production and potential as an orally available anemia therapeutic candidate.

Abstract

Mining activities can cause environmental damage, and needs land rehabilitation efforts. One approach to land rehabilitation after mine is with repairing the ecosystem condition by improving the quality of the soil, with increase fertility and enriching soil nutrient content by providing a biofertilizer from microbe, such as mycorrhizal fungi.  This study aims to determine the potential use of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (MVA) as a biofertilizer by examining the effect of MVA on the growth of corn plant (Zea Mays). Applicated indigenus MVA was able to increase the absorption of phosphorus (P) nutrients in the soil by corn plant so it had an effect on increasing the height and diameter of the corn plant stalks. MVA has the potential as a basic material for making biofertilizer, so it can be used to improve soil quality and environment in ex-limestone mining areas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan Survival Rate (SR) ikan bawal bintang (Trachinotus blochii) yang dipelihara dengan salinitas berbeda dalam rangka diversifikasi spesies perikanan budidaya air payau. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memelihara ikan bawal bintang dalam akuarium berkapasitas 70 L menggunakan 4 perlakuan salinitas yaitu salinitas laut (32‰), 24‰, 14‰, dan 4‰ selama 28 hari. Parameter utama yang diamati adalah survival rate (SR) sedangkan parameter kualitas air yang diamati meliputi salinitas (‰), suhu (oC), oksigen terlarut/DO (mg/L), dan pH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa SR tidak berbeda nyata antar perlakuan (P>0,05) berdasarkan uji ANOVA one-way dengan taraf kepercayaan 95% dengan kisaran antara 97,1% hingga 100%. Kualitas air masih dalam kisaran aman yaitu suhu antara 28-30oC, DO antara 4 – 5 mg/L, dan pH antara 7,77 – 8,2. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa Survival rate ikan bawal bintang yang dipelihara pada salinitas yang berbeda selama 28 hari tidak menunjukkan adanya perbedaan sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa ikan bawal bintang dapat beradaptasi dengan baik di salinitas yang lebih rendah daripada salinitas laut dan berpotensi untuk dibudidayakan pada skala pertambakan bersalinitas rendah dalam rangka diversifikasi spesies budidaya perikanan air payau

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk membandingkan prevalensi dan intensitas endoparasit pada usus ikan Gabus (Channa striata) budidaya air tawar dan tangkapan alam. Usus didapatkan dari 20 ekor Ikan Gabus budidaya air tawar dan 20 ekor dari alam (panjang total 25±3 cm) yang diambil dan diawetkan dengan buffer formalin 0,5%, kemudian diamati menggunakan mikroskop stereo dan compound yang terhubung dengan kamera fotomikroskop OptiLab. Identifikasi endoparasit mengacu pada studi referensi. Prevalensi (prev.), dan intensitas (I) endoparasit dihitung berdasarkan jumlah endoparasit yang ditemukan di dalam usus ikan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa jumlah endoparasit, prevalensi, dan intensitas pada ikan Gabus dari alam memiliki nilai yang lebih tinggi, yaitu Pallisentis sp. (prev=65%; I= 34.3 ind. per ikan dan Camallanus sp. (prev=35%; I=6.1 ind. per ikan) dibandingkan dengan ikan Gabus budidaya air tawar yang terinfeksi Pallisentis sp. saja (prev=30%; I=10. ind. per ikan).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh data jenis-jenis ektoparasit serta prevalensi (P) dan intensitas (I) ektoparasit pada ikan gabus dari tangkapan alam (TA) dan budidaya (BD). Sampel ektoparasit diambil dari ikan gabus tangkapan alam dan budidaya masing-masing 20 ekor dengan metode scraping (pengerokan) pada bagian kulit dan insang. Sampel ektoparasit ditampung pada cawan Petri dan ditambahkan buffer formalin 0,5%, lalu dipindahkan ke botol plakon berlabel. Selanjutnya diamati menggunakan mikroskop OpticLab, serta dilakukan perhitungan prevalensi dan intensitas. Hasil pengamatan ditemukan 4 jenis ektoparasit, yaitu Oodinium sp. (P TA=75%, P BD=70% ; [I TA=4.4, I BD=8.3] ind. per ikan), Trichodinasp. (P TA=30%, P BD=15%; [I TA=1.3, I BD=1] ind. per ikan), Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (P TA=65%,  P BD=15% ; [I TA=1.61, I BD=1.66] ind. per ikan), Epistylis sp. (P TA=50% ; [I TA=1.6] ind. per ikan). Prevalensi ektoparasit ikan gabus (C. striata) pada tangkapan alam lebih tinggi dibandingkan budidaya. Nilai prevalensi tersebut lebih dipengaruhi faktor abiotik berupa suhu yang menghambat perkembangan fase infektif parasit. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of soil insect orders in the reclamation area of former limestone quarries in the top soil type, spoil and reject product used in the media for land reclamation processes. This research sampling technique uses a pitfall trap tool. This study used descriptive quantitative data analysis using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, Simpson dominance index, Pielou species evenness index, and index of Morisista-Horn habitat similarity. Based on the research that has been done it can be concluded that the reclamation land in 2010 with the dominant type of dust has a low diversity category and a high dominance category with the discovery of 4 orders. The reclaimed land in 2014 with the dominant clay type soil has a moderate diversity category and a low dominance category with 7 orders found. Whereas the reclamation land in 2016 with the dominant type of sand has a low diversity category and a high dominance category with the discovery of 8 orders. The spread of species in all three locations was categorized evenly and between locations did not have the same community.

Abstract

This research was done to explore bioactivity of Xylocarpus granatum’s stem extract as tyrosinase inhibitor for alternative preventing black spot in Litopenaeus vannamei postharvest. In this research, extraction of bioactive compound from X. granatum stem was done by soaking the stem in 96% methanol for 24h at temperature 29°C. The methanol was evaporated by using rotary evaporator at temperature 50°C. The extract was dilute with distillate water at series of dilutions (10%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 90%, and distillate water as the control), and then immersing L. vannamei into X. granatum’s stem extract as much as 10ml for 6h, and finally the data analyzing use the Kruskal Wallis test and the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test with the degree of confident 95%. The result showed that X. granatum’s stem extract is able to prevent a black spot of L. vannamei after harvesting process. Furthermore, concentration of 10 % of extract is an effective concentration for preventing a black spot and the control has black spot 0.0360 – 0.0373 mm2.
