Abstract

The aim of this study was to observe the form of seaweed marketing chain, the amount of margin in each marketing chain, and seaweed marketing efficiency in each marketing chain. Respondents selected as sample were seaweed farmers and a trader. Samples of seaweed farmer were chosen by using simple random sampling method. There were 25 respondents interviewed from the total of 50 population. Sample of trader respondent was chosen by using tracing sampling method, and there was 1 trader respondent interviewed. The total number of respondents interviewed was 26 respondents. Result of marketing analysis showed that marketing margin observed in chain I was IDR 4.500; and no marketing margin was observed in chain II because seaweeds were directly sold to cunsumers. Marketing chain of seaweed in Lalombi village consisted of two chains, namely:1. Seaweed Farmer → Trader→ Consumer.2. Seaweed Farmer → Consumer. In the first chain, selling price received by seaweed farmers was 60% with the efficiency value was 40%. In the second chain, selling price received by seaweed farmers was 100% with the efficiency value was 0%; and therefore seaweed marketing chain more efficient was the second marketing chain.Key Words: Marketing analysis, seaweed.

Abstract

The aims of this experiment were to obtain the effective and efficient concentrations of two kinds of plant extracts applied in single or in combination on the mortality of Spodoptera exiqua larva and to determine the LC50 value. This experiment used completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely A (K1 = 0.25%), B (K2 = 0.50%), C (K3 = 0.75%), D (K4 = 1.00%) and E (K5 = 1.25%) and each treatment was replicated 3 times. Larva used was instar 3. Results of this experiment showed that in a single test of Sidondo plant (Vitex negundo L.) extract, the concentration of 1% was effective with the LC50 value at 0.10% and mortality reached 83.33%; and Patah Tulang (Euphorbia tirucalli) extract, the concentration of 1% was also effective with the LC50 value at 0.08% and mortality was upto 83.33%. Combination of Sidondo and Patah Tulang plant extracts with 0.50% each was an effective concentration with LC50 value at 0.09% and mortality of Spodoptera exigua larvae at 48 hours after application reached 83.33%.Key Words: Euphorbia tirucalli, Land, Spodoptera exigua, Viteks negundo.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to identify the form of price relationship at different level of cocoa bean markets from the world market to the farmer market, to analyse the integration of the cocoa bean markets, and to analyse the transmission elasticity of cacao bean price. The location of this study was purposively selected. Sampling technique used was simple random sampling. There were 30 farmers interviewed. Analysis model used was regression and correlation analysis. Results of the analysis showed that the form of price relationship between the world market and the farmer market depend on market structures. These relationships involved some market levels, from the world markets, Indonesian markets, Palu central market, regency market to farmer market. Results of the analysis on the form of cacao bean price relationship between the world market and the farmer market was positive and significant. Integration of world cacao bean markets and farmer markets in Simpang II village was strong and significant. This was indicated by a high correlation value, in average r = 0.895. Regression coefficient (β) was less than one which means that the trasmission elasticity of cacao bean prices from the world markets to farmer markets was inelastic. Therefore, market structures formed was unfully competitive markets. However, the transmission elasticity of the cacao bean price was still high.Key Words: Cacao beans, market, price transmission.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the morphology and anatomy characters of local citrus cropat the Karya Agung and Karya Abadi. The collection of materials was done by exploration on the morpholog of local citrus cropsat Karya Agung the Village and Karya Abadi villages located at Taopa district of Parigi Moutong and the anatomy observation was done at Laboratory of Integrated Pest and Diseaseof Agriculture Faculty of Tadulako University. The study was conducted in October to November 2015. Total sample of citrus crop were collected for morphology and anatomy was 20 samples consisting of 10 samples from the Karya Agung and 10 samples Karya Abadi village, respectively and analyzed using cluster analysis and the results will be shown as dendrogram. The results showed in dendogram there ara citrus cultivars diversity in Parigi Moutong, especially in the village Karya Agung and Karya Abadi, it is visible from the morphological characters and specific anatomical features shown by the results of a cluster analysis to look at the level of the great diversity. There are three groups of accessions in Karya Agung village named KA03, KA01 and KA09. Also, three groups ofaccessions in Karya Abadi Village named KB09, KB01 and KB10.Key Words: Anatomy, citrus crop, characters, morphology.

This study aims to determine how much added value on taro which has been processing into chips. Determination of the respondents in this studywas done by intentionally (purposive). Respondents who selected was the chief of "Darmatian Product". Tarigan method was used to analysis the value added. The results showed that the home industry of "Darmatian Product" got benefits 6,667,476.16, this got from 8 times of processing for September 2016 and the valued added was10,436.73 perkilogram of raw material used.Key Words: Home Industry Darmatian Product, Value Added, Taro Chips.

Abstract

The aims of this experiment were to obtain the best concentration of HCl and the optimum length of boiling time in producing liquid sugar from cacao pod husk. Analysis of data of extracted cellulose (Phase I) used completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 3 NaOH concentrations tested namely : 10%, 12% and 14%. Each treatment was replieated 4 times, and therefore there were 12 experimental units used. Analysis of variance showing significant or highly significant effects were subsequently analysed by HSD at 5% or 1%, respectively. Experimental design used in the hydrolysis of cellulose (Phase II) was randomized block design (RBD) with four levels of hydrochloric acid (HCl) tested, namely: K1 = 1%; K2 = 1.5%; K3 = 2% and K4 = 2.5%. Treatments were grouped based on the length of pod husk cellulose hydrolysis time in hydrochloric acid solution, namely R1 = 2 hours, R2 = 4 hours, R3 = 6 hours, R4 = 8 hours, R5 = 10 hours and R6 = 12 hours. Each treatment was replicated three times in each group, and therefore there were 72 experimental units observed. Analysis of variance showing significant or highly significant effects were subsequently analysed by HSD at 5% or 1%, respectively. The best NaOH concentration was obtained at 12% and the optimum length of boiling time was 8 hours.Key Words: Cacao pod husk, cellulose, Hydrochloric acid.
