Abstract

The aims of this experiment were to obtain the most suitable explant planting position and medium composition for the growth of dragon fruit via in vitro culture.  This experiment used Split Plot Design with the main plot was explant planting position, namely vertical and horizontal positions.  The sub plot was media composition, namely 2 ppm BAP + 0.40 ppm NAA; 3 ppm BAP + 0.20 ppm NAA; 2 ppm BAP + 0.40 ppm NAA + 0.88 ppm vitamin C; and 3 ppm BAP + 0.20 ppm NAA + 0.88 ppm vitamin C.  Data were analysed by using Analysis of Variance and differences between treatmens were determined by Honestly Significant Difference.  Results of this experiment indicated that media composition had a highly significant difference on the growth of dragon fruit explants on each planting position tested.  Medium composition supplemented with 3 ppm BAP + 0.20 ppm NAA planted horizontally showed a good growth with average shoot formation 8.67 shoots and shoot length 1.76 cm per explant.  Intensive root formation was observed at vertical planting position with average 7.50 roots per explant.

Abstract

Onion (Allium  ascallonicum L.) is a potential commodity especially in the city of Palu. Shallots Central Sulawesi than as a food flavoring agent very suitable for use as a feedstock fried onions. The purpose of this study was to determine the exact condition on the variety store Palasa and Palu valley are able to maintain the vigor of onion bulbs save energy. The expected usefulness of this study was to determine how the storage of onion bulbs to maintain vigor remains high shelf. This study used a split plot design consisting of: (1) local onion varieties as main plots (V1) = Onion Varieties Palasa, (V2) = Onion Varieties Palu valley, (2) The condition is saved as a subplot (K1) = room air conditioning (temperature 20-250 C), (K2) = space room (temperature> 28-300 C), (K3) = free air space (temperature> 300 C).  The results showed that the varieties Palasa produce speed germination and germination times better. Storage on the condition of free air space produces germination, speed of germination and germination time and the dry weight is higher. Varieties Palu valley and Palasa has vigor shelf high on the condition of free air space savings, although in an air conditioned room with a temperature of 250 C is still showing good vigor.

Abstract

Spodoptera exiqua is known as onion caterpillar, it attacks often reduces onion production.  This insect could even cause harvest failure, and chemicals in high doses and spraying is often used to control on its spread. This action can negatively impact to environment as well the users. To reduce the negative impact of the use of chemical insecticides is necessary to find an alternative strategy. It is known that several biological agents could serve as biopesticides such as  entomopathogenic nematodes Steinernema sp. This study was aimed to determine effective concentration of entomopathogenic nematodes Steinernema sp. to control S. exiqua growth.  Nematode used in this study was Infective juvenile (IJ) instar II. There were 6 different nematodes concentrations as treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD).  The treatments were 0 IJ, 200 IJ, 400 IJ, 600 IJ, 800 IJ, and 1000 IJ of nematodes, mixed in 2 ml of distilled water, respectively.  The results showed that the concentration of nematodes 600 JI is effective to kill 83.4% larvae of S. exiqua within 6 days. This finding clearly shows that nematode is able to reduce larvae S.exiqu and expecting a positive impact to onion production.

Abstract

Incepticol is known as low fertile soil as well Oxic Dystrudepts which is a sub group. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of P (Phosphor) fertilizer and mychorriza arbuscular on the availability concentration of P soil and uptake by maize (Zea mays L.)  on Oxic Dystrudepts soil of Lemban Tongoa area. Randomized block design (RBD) in factorial was used as research design. The first factor was P fertilizer (source SP-36), treated in seven different concentrations namely 0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 kg P ha-1, and with and without mycorrhizal fungi application as second factor. Each treatment was repeated three times. The results showed that all doses of the SP-36 fertilizer increase significantly the availability concentration of P in soil, and the present of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi significantly increase P uptake by maize. The higher the doses of fertilizer SP-36 the higher the P-total and P uptake find in maize, and sharper increase when treated with mycorrhizae.

Abstract

Onion (Allium ascallonicum L.) is one of horticultural commodities that has high economic value and national priority to cultivate. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of shade plant and bioprotectant fertilizer (compost + Trichoderma sp.) to control  tuber root disease (Fusarium oxysporum) on onion crop. This study used Split plot design, which consists of: (1) shade treatment as the main plot namely: without (A1) and with (A2) shade plants, (2) application of bioprotectant fertilizer (compost + Trichoderma sp.) as the subplot namely: without fertilizer (B0),  fertilizer 1 kg/plot (B1), 2 kg/plot (B2), and 3 kg/plot (B3). The results showed that application of shade and fertilizer bioprotectant 3 kg/plot (B3) produced the lowest of tuber rot disease infestation of and the highest levels of onion yield.

Abstract

Local varieties onions (Allium ascolinicum L) of Palu are mostly presented as fried onion, it because has excellent taste that demanded by consumers. This study was planned to determine the quality of the chemical and physical properties, as well the organoleptic of the fried onions which were produced from various locations in Palu valley. Research design was a randomized block design with 5 locations of onion planting as treatments and defined 4 plots of anion in each village as group. The 5 locations namely are Bolupontu jaya, Soulowe, Guntarano, Maku and Oluboju. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and tested with Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) method. The results indicated that the location where the onions were planted  in Palu valley affected significantly the chemical properties such as water content, free fatty acid levels, oil content, carbohydrate content, protein content, and mineral content especially calcium and sulfur. Further, the location was also significantly effect on dry biomass of fried onions.

Abstract

This study attempted to determine changes in Phosphorus (P)  uptake and the onion production by applying Titonia bokashi (Titonia diversifolia) in this oxic Dystrudepts  soil from Lemban Tongoa village from Palolo district, in pot experiment. The research was compiled in a Randomized Design (RBD) consists of 7 level of doses  of bokashi  namely control (without bokashi),  5 t ha-1,  10 t ha-1,  15 t ha-1 ,  25 t ha-1, 40 t ha-1, and 60 t ha-1, each treatment was repeated three times. Results showed that application of bokashi in oxic Dystrudepts significantly affect on changes in soil chemical properties, the Aldd reduced but available and total P, soil pH, plant dry weight, C-organic,  P uptake by onion increased.  Highest phosphorus (P) in onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) was found when Titonia bokashi  applied at a dose of 40 t ha-1.

Abstract

Horticultural and food crops are the vital sub sectors of agriculture that strongly support economic development of Central Sulawesi, however there are several constraints.  Farmers have lack of capital, lack of knowledge, and less of Agro-industrial activities. Palu city is one of well known producer of horticultural crops in Indonesia. In this city there are several industries producing snacks from horticultural products,  as added value to horticulture products.  Citra Lestari Production is a home industry in Palu, and whether this home industry could become a limited liability company (CV) will be studied, from its ability to purchase raw materials and good financial performance. Thus this study aimed to analyze whether Citra Lestari could become a limited liability company (CV) by analyzing its liquidity, solvency, and rate of return (profitability). Location and respondent of this study were determined deliberately. The results indicated that the level of liquidity of this company rose from 1.23 in 2010 to 1.36 % in 2011. Solvency level in 2010 was 8.43 and increased in 2011 to 8.53 %. The rates of return decreased from 86.59 in 2010 to 42.39% in year 2011. Based on these three aspects of financial ratios namely liquidity, and solvency, profitability/rate of return,  it is concluded that Citra Lestari Production could become a limited liability company (CV). Abstract

This study attempted to determine the revenues of brown sugar and tapo sugar and to investigate the difference between these two revenues. A census sampling method for sugar producers was done, collected 30 respondents  i.e 15 respondents for brown sugar producers and others 15 for Tapo Sugar.  The hypothesis was that the revenue obtained from brown sugar was lesser than tapo sugar. The result showed that the average revenue from brown sugar is 498,449 IDR per month and Tapo is  2,437,639 IDR per month, t-test showed the t value is -6.982 with critical t value 2.048 which indicates that t value > critical t value, means there is a significant difference between the revenue of brown sugar with tapo Sugar in the Ambesia village, district Tomini Moutong Parigi region.
