Abstract

This  study  discusses the  influence  of  human  factors  and  technological  factors  on knowledge sharing, the influence of knowledge sharing to increase firm innovation, and the influence of firm innovation to increase firm performance. Primary data of this research were collected directly from the respondents’ answers using questionnaires. The samples were middle-level managers of manufacturing companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. SmartPLS was used to process the data. Hypothesis testing proved that the hypothesis  1b-1c and the 2-4 hypothesis were acceptable, while the hypothesis 1a was unacceptable. It was proveable that the shared vision, trust,  and  IT  support for  KM  had  significant positive  effect  toward  knowledge  sharing; knowledge  sharing  had  effect  to  increase  firm  innovation;  firm  innovation  had  effect  to increase firm performance; while, the open-mindedness had no effect toward knowledge sharing.

Abstract

This paper examines the relationship among cost leadership competitive strategy, manufacturing  strategy,  and  firm  performance  of  manufacture  firms  in  the  Jababeka Industrial Estate, West Java. The sample was taken by applying a non-probability method with a purposive sampling technique. The questionnaires processed were 104 in number; 79 of which were obtained from mail survey and 25 from e-mail survey. The data were analyzed by making use of path analysis technique. The finding showed that there was significant and positive relationship among cost leadership competitive strategy and the manufacturing strategies of flexibility, quality, delivery, and low cost. It also confirmed that the quality was the only manufacturing strategy component that influences firm performance. The further result showed that the quality mediated a relationship between cost leadership competitive strategies and firm performance.

Abstract

Auditing aims to ensure the implementation of     public accountability by both the central government and local government. The purpose of this study was to analyze the determinants of auditees’ satisfaction in the local government of Madiun. The object of this study was the agency/SKPD of Madiun government involved in the implementation of the financial administration of the area (the area of financial management powers) and responsible for the budget. It is an empirical study making use of purposive sampling technique to collect the data. The data were obtained through questionnaires. The questionnaires were 76 in number including 2 office heads, 1office secretary,11section heads, 16 sub- section heads, and 13 teasurers. The data were analyzed with the use of SPSS 15.0. The result of the study indicated that there were four variables which had relation with the auditees’ satisfaction namely, experience, industry expertise, member characteristics, and skeptical attitude. In addition, there were seven variables which had no relation with the auditees’ satisfaction. They are responsiveness, compliance, profesional care, commitment, executive involvement and conduct of audit field work.

Abstract

The success in learning does not depend merely on the brilliance of the brain. There are many other factors which affect the success intended. Attitudes, habits, and skills in learning contribute substantially  in determining the success of the students. Therefore, the students should strive to have  good attitudes, habits,  and skills in learning, and try to avoid or overcome obstacles in learning. A student who applies an effective method of learning may gain a higher achievement compared to those who apply ineffective methods. In fact, motivation also influences the success in learning. Highly motivated individuals usually pay their attention to personal achievement, not to prestige, obtained either with or without any help of others. High motivation has great affects on the individuals to achieve the desired performance. The  analysis  of  correlation  coefficient  showed  that  there  was  a  tight  correlation between      motivation and habits in learning with the success of the students of Guidance and Counseling as indicated by the correlation value of 0. 426. The analysis of determination coefficient revealed that the success of the students of Guidance and Counseling was influenced by variables of  motivation and  habits in learning by 18.2%. The t-test proved that the first hypothesis, which reads " otivation affects the success of the students of Guidance and Counseling" was accepted , and the second hypothesis, which reads" habits in learning affect the success of the students of Guidance and Counseling" was rejected. The F test showed that the major hypothesis which reads “motivation and habits in learning affect the students’ success" was accepted.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of need for achievement, self-efficacy, readiness of  instrumentation, gender, age, and parental occupational background on entrepreneurial intentions. This study  tested a  hypothesis - causal relationship among variables. The data used were primary data obtained by directly distributing questionnaires to the respondents namely, the students of the Faculty of Economics who were still active in college. Hypothesis testing  made use of multiple regression analysis and independent sample T-test. The analysis showed that the need for achievement had no effect toward entrepreneurial intentions. While,  self-efficacy and instrumentation readiness had significant effect toward entrepreneurial intentions. There was no difference of  entrepreneurial intentions between male students dan female students. There was also no difference of entrepreneurial intentions between students under 20 and those aged above 20. Likewise, there was no difference of entrepreneurial intentions  between students whose parents were entrepreneurs and those whose parents were non-entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Rosela is one of medicinal herbs. Rosela contents phytochemicals such as: gossypetine, hibiscin, flavonoid phenol, anthocyanin. The aim of the study was to find out the effect of oral intake of Rosela extract on triglyceride concentration of diabetic white rat. This research applied Experimental Method which concists of four groups with five replications to each. The treatment for each of those groups was: (1) normal rat without treatment, (2) diabetic rat without treatment of Rosela extract, (3) diabetic rat treated 250 mg/kg body weight of   Rosela extract, (4) diabetic rat   treated   500 mg/kg body weight of Rosela extract. The parameters used were triglyceride concentration. The result showed that the extract of Rosela reduced triglyceride concentration.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mengkaji ihwal transformasi berkaitan dengan penggunaan –ing participle dan                     gerund ditinjau    dari    struktur    luar,    struktur    dalam,    dan    proses transformasinya. Kajian ini termasuk studi sintaksis yang mendeskripsikan pertalian antarunsur dalam stuktur kalimat, khususnya menelusuri  hubungan makna antara stuktur luar dan stuktur dalam melalui proses transformasi. Penelitian  ini  menggunakan  metode  deskiptif.  Sumber  data  adalah  novel  The Shepherd karangan Frederick Forsyth. Sedangkan, penentuan sample menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data menghasilkan temuan: (1) berdasarkan struktur luarnya,  mayoritas – ing  participle berfungsi  sebagai  modifier terhadap  nomina guna menjelaskan  tindakan yang ditunjukkan oleh verba dalam kalimat induk. Sementara itu, kebanyakan gerund berfungsi sebagai objek preposisi untuk melengkapi predikasi kalimat; (2) dalam kaitannya dengan struktur dalam, -ing participle pada umumnya ditransformasi dari klausa adjektiva dan klausa adverba yang memiliki subjek yang sama dengan subjek kalimat induk. Di lain pihak, gerund secara umum ditransformasi dari klausa bebas dan subjeknya terdapat di dalam klausa tersebut. –ing   participle dan   gerund dalam   novel   The   Shepherd ditujukan   untuk menciptakan variasi kalimat sebagai pengganti kalimat majemuk bertingkat, sehingga dihasilkan gaya bahasa yang lebih menarik.

Abstract

The  research  aimed  to describe  (1)  the  patterns  of  Indonesian compound-complex sentences and (2) the meaning relations between one clause and another. The method used was descriptive-qualitative in nature. The data were in the form of written sentences taken from magazines, newspapers, and novels. The data analysis made use of Immediate Constituents Analysis method. The analysis revealed that compound-complex sentences found were of seven patterns: (1) main clause + subclause + subclause (the first pattern comprises five kinds of pattern structure), (2) main clause + main clause + subclause (the second pattern comprises ten kinds of pattern structure), (3) subclause + main clause + main clause (the third pattern comprises nine kinds of pattern structure), (4) subclause + subclause + main cluse (the fourth pattern comprises  two  kinds  of  pattern  structure),  (5)  subcluse  +  main  clause  +  subclause  + subclause (the fifth pattern comprises two kinds of pattern structure), (6) main clause + main clause + subclause + subclause (the sixth pattern comprises three kinds of pattern structure), (7) main clause + main clause + main clause + subclause ( the seventh pattern comprises only one kind of pattern structure). The  meaning  relations  between  one  clause  and  another  were  of  great  variety, depending on the number of clauses. They include (1) addition and time, content, purpose, cause, (2) order and effect, purpose, time, (3) contrast and time, cause, content, (4) contrast and time, cause, content, (5) cause and addition, contrast, (6) content and contrast, addition, (7) purpose/hope and quantification (8) effect and addition, order, (9) condition and choice, addition, (10) concession and addition, (11) restriction and addition, (12) location and addition, (13) addition, purpose, time, cause, condition, non-condition.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas  novel berjudul Emma ditulis oleh Jane  Austen. Peneliti menggambarkan  keperempuanan  Jane  Austen  seperti  yang  tersirat  dalam  novel  Emma. Emma telah merepresentasikan kebangkitan perempuan dengan belajar hidup dalam masyarakat  tanpa  mengorbankan  diri  sendiri.  Dia  telah  berkembang  dari  karakter  yang sensitif dan memiliki cinta kasih. Emma telah menikah dengan pria intelektual yang menghormati perempuan. Dia menikah karena cinta, dan tetap mengendalikan rumah tangganya. Austen juga menggambarkan perspektif laki-laki yang tidak konvensional. Hal ini menjadi pengalaman George Knightley mengkritik Emma ketika Emma tersandung. Emma telah berkorban, tetapi mendapatkan banyak dari yang telah dia korbankan. Emma belajar dari kesalahannya dan berusaha berkembang. Emma telah memiliki pengalaman hidup, moral, seperti seorang pria yang memiliki kehidupan moral. Austen menggambarkan Emma dengan karakter realistis, menyatakan bahwa perempuan dapat berpikir, memiliki alasan rasional, belajar dan berkembang. Dengan demikian,  Austen  telah  memberikan  kontribusi  dalam  membebaskan  perspektif  negatif terhadap perempuan.

Abstract

E-learning is a method of learning  currently being developed at several universities in Indonesia. By making use of electronic and computer as its  medium, e-learning provides an innovation that greatly contributes to changes in teaching and learning  processes in which learners  no longer listen merely to the description of material provided by lecturers, but e- learning may also become a simulation, multimedia, or direct and indirect interaction with the lecturers. The supporting infrastructure of e-learning at Catholic University of Widya Mandala Madiun can be used to build a web portal for e-learning. The students who have their own laptops  connected to the campus hotspot webs are about 200 in number. It is a good step to start building e-learning at the campus. In this planning process, the software used is open source. Linux ubuntu is used for operating system server, while xampp is used to build web server and Dokeos is used for its e-learning application.
