Abstract

For two given graphs $F$ and $H$, the Ramsey number $R(F,H)$ is the smallest integer $N$ such that for any graph $G$ of order $N$, either $G$ contains $F$ or the complement of $G$ contains $H$. Let $F_l$ denote a fan of order $2l+1$, which is $l$ triangles sharing exactly one vertex, and $K_n$ a complete graph of order $n$. Surahmat et al. conjectured that $R(F_l,K_n)=2l(n-1)+1$ for $l\geq n\geq 5$. In this paper, we show that the conjecture is true for n=5.

Abstract

A signed graph (or, $sigraph$ in short) is a graph G in which each edge x carries a value $\sigma(x) \in \{-, +\}$ called its sign. Given a sigraph S, the negation $\eta(S)$ of the sigraph S is a sigraph obtained from S by reversing the sign of every edge of S. Two sigraphs $S_{1}$ and $S_{2}$ on the same underlying graph are switching equivalent if it is possible to assign signs `+' (`plus') or `-' (`minus') to vertices of $S_{1}$ such that by reversing the sign of each of its edges that has received opposite signs at its ends, one obtains $S_{2}$. In this paper, we characterize sigraphs which are negation switching invariant and also see for what sigraphs, S and $\eta (S)$ are signed isomorphic.

Abstract

In this paper, we show that several graph parameters are known in different areas under completely different names.More specifically, our observations connect signed domination, monopolies, $\alpha$-domination, $\alpha$-independence,positive influence domination, and a parameter associated to fast information propagationin networks to parameters related to various notions of global $r$-alliances in graphs. We also propose a new framework, called (global) $(D,O)$-alliances, not only in order to characterizevarious known variants of alliance and domination parameters, but also to suggest a unifying framework for the study of alliances and domination. Finally, we also give a survey on the mentioned graph parameters, indicating how results transfer due to our observations.

Abstract

We study the (Delta,D) and (Delta,N) problems for double-step digraphs considering the unilateral distance, which is the minimum between the distance in the digraph and the distance in its converse digraph, obtained by changing the directions of all the arcs. The first problem consists of maximizing the number of vertices N of a digraph, given the maximum degree $\Delta$ and the unilateral diameter D*, whereas the second one (somehow dual of the first) consists of minimizing the unilateral diameter given the maximum degree and the number of vertices. We solve the first problem for every value of the unilateral diameter and the second one for infinitely many values of the number of vertices. Moreover, we compute the mean unilateral distance of the digraphs in the families considered.

Abstract

This paper addresses upper and lower bounds for the cardinality of a maximum vertex-/edge-disjoint cycle packing in a polyhedral graph G. Bounds on the cardinality of such packings are provided, that depend on the size, the order or the number of faces of G, respectively. Polyhedral graphs are constructed, that attain these bounds.

Abstract

An antimagic labeling of a graph $G=(V,E)$ is a bijection from the set of edges $E$ to the set of integers $\{1,2,\dots, |E|\}$ such that all vertex weights are pairwise distinct, where the weight of a vertex is the sum of all edge labels incident with that vertex. A graph is antimagic if it has an antimagic labeling. In this  paper we provide constructions of antimagic labelings for a family of generalized antiprism graphs and generalized toroidal antiprism graphs.

Abstract

In this paper, we define and compare three new measures of graph irregularity. We use these measures to tighten upper bounds for the chromatic number and the Colin de Verdiere parameter. We also strengthen the concise Turan theorem for irregular graphs and investigate to what extent Turan's theorem can be similarly strengthened for generalized r-partite graphs. We conclude by relating these new measures to the Randic index and using the measures to devise new normalised indices of network heterogeneity.
