Abstract

A rigorous analytical and semi analytical method of lines has been used to calculate the transverse-electric field attenuation coefficient of guided mode as it travels in waveguide bends structure. Both approaches then were compared to get a better understanding on how the attenuation behaves along single curve waveguides with constant radius of curvature. The Helmholtz Equation in polar coordinate was transformed into a curvalinier coordinate to simulate the waveguide bends using the method of line analysis. The simple absorption boundary conditions are used into the method of lines to demonstrate evanescent field of the guided mode nature as its travels in waveguide bends structures. The results show that a reasonable agreement between both theoretical approaches.

Abstract

Drowning is the leading cause of injury or death for children and teenagers. Designing a drowning detection device by implementing an Internet of Thing (IoT) is needed. An Early Drowning Detection System (EDDS) is a system that gives an early alarm to the guardians (parents and lifeguard) if the detector triggered an abnormal heartbeat and the victims are submerged under the water for a long time. A microcontroller was used to control the signal received from a pulse sensor and time for the signal lost under the water before it is transmitted to the access point. The access point acts as a data forwarding to the database via an internet connection. Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) 433MHz radio frequency transceiver has been used to create the wireless communication between drowning detection device and monitoring hub. A triggered warning signal will be transmitted to the guardians via Android apps and web page.

Abstract

Bengkulu city is well-known as a high-risk area for an earthquake. One of the effects of the earthquake is liquefaction, the phenomenon in which the strength and stiffness of the soil are reduced by shock. The researchers measured the quantity of liquefaction by knowing the value of Vs30 values that can be obtained from the United States Geological Survey (USGS). In this study, however, we measured liquefaction based on the shear strain value (γ). Here, the shear strain values could be determined by measuring the seismic vulnerability index and the peak ground acceleration. The vulnerability index was obtained by measuring the resonance of the frequency and the amplification factor using a short period seismometer with 3 components (2 horizontal components and 1 vertical component), whereas the peak ground accelerationα was obtained from the earthquake data that happened in Bengkulu City in 2000. The result showed that Vs30 and shear strain negatively correlated.

Abstract

In Malaysia, falls has become the most common injuries for elderly. Therefore, a wearable fall detector device is created to decrease the risk of serious injury among elderly. The device consists of an accelerometer (ADXL345) as a sensor, an Arduino Nano as a microcontroller, and a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) as a notifier. A group of 15 young people participated in performing several sets of different falls and ADL (daily life activities) to determine the ability of the device. The result shows a good functioning performance by 92.6% sensitivity to detect fall and 89.3% specificity in discriminate fall from daily life activity.

Abstract

Folding machine prototype is a tool for folding clothes that used a LEGO Mindstorm EV3 and the movement of this LEGO will be controlled by using the proposed method. This research is using 2 kind of systems, first is (Proportional Integration Derrivative) and second is Fuzzy-PD. This system can improve the production efficiency especially in micro convection-based industry (UKM). This folding machine prototype has 3 folds connected to the EV3 Large Motors as actuators. PID and Fuzzy-PD control systems are used to control the position of the motor angle by reading the rotary encoder. Based on the test results with load condition at Kp=7,00; Ki=2.00; Kd=15.5,the PID control system has a rise time of 0.479s with settling time of 0.551s and overshoot value of 9,1%. While the result of Fuzzy-PD control shows the rise time is equal to 0.617s with settling time of 0.7s and overshoot value of 7.5%.

Abstract

In Distributed Control System (DCS), multitasking management has been important issues continuously researched and developed. In this paper, DCS was applied in global temperature control system by coordinating three Local Control Units (LCUs). To design LCU’s controller parameters, both analytical and experimental method were employed. In analytical method, the plants were firstly identified to get their transfer functions which were then used to derive control parameters based on desired response qualities. The experimental method (Ziegler-Nichols) was also applied due to practicable reason in real industrial plant (less mathematical analysis). To manage set-points distributed to all LCUs, master controller was subsequently designed based on zone of both error and set-point of global temperature controller. Confirmation experiments showed that when using control parameters from analytical method, the global temperature response could successfully follow the distributed set-points with 0% overshoot, 193.92 second rise time, and 266.88 second settling time. While using control parameters from experimental method, it could also follow the distributed set-points with presence of overshoot (16.9%), but has less rise time and settling time (111.36 and 138.72 second). In this research, the overshoot could be successfully decreased from 16.9 to 9.39 % by changing master control rule. This proposed method can be potentially applied in real industrial plant due to its simplicity in master control algorithm and presence of PID controller which has been generally included in today industrial equipments.

Abstract

This paper focused on designing a bi-directional beams waveguide slotted antenna at millimetre wave spectrum. Waveguide slotted antenna is known for its highly directional pattern. By having bi-directional pattern, the capacity of system coverage can be expanded. The design is implemented by using antenna slot theory on a waveguide structure. The slotted are made on two wall surfaces and the performance is compared to the slotted on single wall. The two models designs are simulated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) microwave software. The simulation results show that both models operate at 30 GHz with minimum reflection coefficient of -24.63 and -25.01 dB respectively. The two models achieved a fair high gain at 15.5 dB and 13.3 dB with directional beamwidth of 8.9 degree. The proposed bi-directional beams structure achieved a comparable gain in both directions when compared to the single direction.

Abstract

This paper presents the characteristic MIMO 2x4 antenna for 5G communication system. The proposed antenna works at 28 GHz and simulated by using CST simulation software. The antenna uses RT Duroid 5880 substrate with dielectric constant of 2.2. The MIMO antenna consists of eight elements with rectangular patches and inset feeding. The dimension of patch (Wp x Lp) is 6 mm x 8 mm. There are three (3) antenna configurations derived in this paper such as; single element, 1x4 elements and 2x4 elements. The MIMO 1x4 elements antenna configuration is designed based on the single element antenna with the distance between center to center elements antennas of 5 mm. The MIMO 2x4 antenna is formed from the MIMO 1x4 element configuration with the opposite direction. The 2x4 element antenna, a distance between opposite antenna elements is 10 mm. From the simulation results, it is shown that by increasing the number elements of antenna affect to the directivity and the return loss. Antenna with 2x4 elements has 14 dBi of directivity with the return loss of -19 dB. While antenna with 1x4 elements, the directivity obtained is 14.3 dBi with return loss of -18 dB.

Abstract

The density level in the leaf venation type has different characteristics. These different characteristics explain the environment in which plants grow, such as habitat, vegetation, physiology and climate. This research aims to measure of leaf venation density, leaf venation feature analysis and then identifying plants based on venation type. Stages of this research include leaf image data collection, segmentation, vein detection, feature extraction, feature selection, classification, evaluation and ending with analysis. The results of this study indicate that the level of leaf venation density is quite good is the type of venation paralellodromous, acrodromous and pinnate. Based on the selection of features using Boruta Algorithm, obtained 19 most important features that represent the type of leaf venation. This is reinforced by the average of accuracy produced at the time of classification using SVM, which amounted to 77.57%.

Abstract

Various web-based information systems are developed by Indonesian government to improve quality of services for their society. It encourages users, generally civil servants, to perform different authentications on used information systems and have to remember credentials. Account management of the users poses another challenge for administrators. Single Sign-On (SSO) can be the solution by providing a service of centralized authentication and user account management. This study applies a token-based SSO architecture and uses Json Web Token (JWT) to grant permission authorities, since JWT can provide a claim process between 2 parties. Additionally, the built-in dashboard lists associated information systems to facilitate accessing for the authenticated users. This study will discuss JWT implementation on the dashboard of government information systems that implements SSO, which will generate the permission authorities securely for connected information systems on SSO.
