This paper proposes an effectively modified firefly algorithm (EMFA) for searching optimal solution of economic load dispatch (ELD) problem. The proposed method is developed by improving the procedure of new solution generation of conventional firefly algorithm (FA). The performance of EMFA is compared to FA variants and other existing methods by testing on four different systems with different types of objective function and constraints. The comparison indicates that the proposed method can reach better optimal solutions than other FA variants and most other existing methods with lower population and lower maximum iteration. As a result, it can lead to a conclusion that the proposed method is potential for ELD problem.

The study of Design of Earthquake Early Warning System for Real Time Using Geomagnetism and Total Electron Content with Fuzzy Logic through competitive grants scheme has obtained the prototype of the earthquake early warning system. However, it still needs improvements on in the calibration of thesensor system especially for MAG3110 sensor and DHT11 sensor. This calibration was done by adjusting the sensor system to the existing measuring devices standards in the Physics Department laboratory of the Sains Faculty Lampung University, to obtain measurement accuracyand to get a good result about where and when the earthquake would occurand how strong the earthquake would be. The calibration of MAG3110 sensor and DHT11 sensor obtained the standard correction results, the standard deviation of MAG3110 from 3 axes, namely x axis was 8.5, y axis was 2.66, and z axis was 1.9, whereas the standard deviation for DH11 sensor was 0.1161.

A complex and detailed Web3D world which represented the physical form of an institution is very difficult to be built. To simplify the work, raster images taken from the real structure were heavily utilized. However, this method has resulted in Web3D sites which were low on detail and having minimum level of realism. To overcome this deficiency, it is proposed to maximize the use of polygons. Experiment was done by re-developing the sample world with minimum use of raster images and applying polygons to 92% parts of the site. Site elements were also distributed to three servers to cope with bottleneck problem often occured when using only one server. The result was evaluated in a series of tests to see its viewing capabilities when displayed inside the web browser against various conditions, and it also evaluated in an acceptance test carried out by site users. The majority of testers felt immensely familiar with the details shown by the model as they were able to grab a more close-to-realistic experience like a real-world walk around inside the actual building complex. Problems that often occur whe using only one server ca also be reduced by using distributed world method.

A Microstrip Antenna (MSA) has been computed and analysed in this study by using CST of Microwave studio as Electromagnetic solver by generating the coefficient of reflection, the Gain, the density of current and the radiation pattern in the frequency range 3.1-10.6 GHz which commercialised by the Federal communication commission (FCC) as an Ultra-wide band (UWB) frequency range. The substrate used to achieve the proposed structure is the FR4-Epoxy with a thickness of 1.6 mm, a constant dielectric of 4.4 and a loss tangent of 0.025. The radiating patch is a circular shape etched with different sizes to create the fractal geometry. The transmission line has been designed by including a tapered section in the part connected to the radiator. The design of the antenna has been verified by using ADS and CST solvers. The fabrication of the antenna has been performed in order to measure the coefficient of reflection and the radiation pattern.

Considering a dual-hop energy-harvesting (EH) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) relaying system, this paper considers novel relaying protocol based on time power switching-based relaying (TPSR) and power switching-based relaying (PSR) schemes for two kinds of gain factors regarding amplify-and-forward mode. We introduce novel system model relaying network with impacts of energy harvesting fractions and derive analytical expressions for outage probability for the information transmission link. It confirmed that right selection of power allocation for NOMA to obtain optimal performance as compared study in two considered schemes. We also explore impacts of other key parameters of system to outage performance evaluation for different channel models. Simulation results are presented to corroborate the proposed methodology.

The objective of this studywas to obtain atechnical and economic analysis of solar-powered lighting (SPL) implementation at Bali above Seawater Toll-Road. The SPL was designed to operate 12Hours/day with average illumination ≥15-lux. Those requirements can be met byan SPL unit that consists of 2-pieces 87-W LED lights mounted on 10-m double arms pole with 2.37-m arm length and 15º tilt angle. Each LED light was powered by a 260-Wp solar panel, 24V-180AH battery and 10-A solar charge controller. Every SPL unit should be installed on the toll-road median with 22.5-m pole-spacing and required 361-units to illuminate throughout 8,122.5-m toll-road length. Benefits of SPL implementation wereelectricity saving 256.15MWh/yr and carbon emission reduction 217.98TonesCO2/yr. However, the SPL electrical-based costwas 3.9 times more expensive than conventionalstreet lighting. And based onthe investment feasibility analysis using NPI and PI techniques showed that the SPL implementation was not feasible.

The micro-grid deployments are growing with independently, power system designers, manufacturers and researchers for the applications where the loads are more efficient association with extra output sources such as Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and Photovoltaic (PV) systems. Using renewable source as main sources for micro-grid system also can avoid from the pollution to occur. Energy storage when combined with PV system can provide a stronger economic performance, as well as an added benefit of backup power for critical loads. This project proposed control strategies for integration of BESS and PV in a micro-grid. The operation enables the maximum PV and BESS utilization during different operating condition of the micro-grid, grid connected, islanded mode or a process between these two operations. The project will focus on analyzing the performance between photovoltaic system and battery in the simulations of micro-grids system and validate the simulation result using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. After the simulation was analyzed, the understanding of benefit in using renewable energy source as main power supply with support from battery energy storage to supply the power to the loads and power managements is realized in the different modes on micro-grid which is grid connected or islanded states. When the power generation from PV system was not enough to accommodate electric loads, the BESS or from secondary side of transformer will supply the insufficient power.

Researches and the analysis of factors of the systems influencing quality with division according to radiation wavelength are given in article. Especially the communication quality in systems with wave division of channels is influenced by hindrances from Four Wave Mixing. In this regard the technique of definition of number of products of nonlinear effect of Four Wave Mixing getting to ranges of working channels, results of calculation of combinational products for the different number of channels in systems with division according to radiation wavelength is given. Power of a hindrance of Four Wave Mixing in systems with wave division of channels is calculated. Methods of reduction of influences of these nonlinear effects are considered. Conclusions and recommendations on ensuring quality of optical channels are provided in systems with wave division.

This work presents a miniature microstrip antenna at 2.45 GHz by using the slots technique. This microstrip antenna is fed by a CPW technique and designed for RFID reader system on FR4 substrate. A size reduction equal to 66.6% has been obtained compared to the conventional rectangular microstrip antenna. The total area of the final circuit is 19x31 mm2. The validated antenna has good matching input impedance with a stable radiation pattern, a loss return of -40 dB, and a gain of 1.78 dBi, a prototype of the proposed antenna has been fabricated and measured.

This work deals with the modeling of a new three-phase tetrahedral transformer of HV power supply, which feeds three magnetrons per phase. The design of this new power supply is composed of three single-phase with magnetic shunt transformers coupling in star; each one is size to feed voltage-doubling cells, thereby feeds a magnetron. In order to validate the functionality of this power supply, we simulate it under Matlab-Simulink environment. Thus, we modeled nonlinear inductance using a new approach of neuro-fuzzy (ANFIS); this method based on the interpolation of the curve B(H) of ferromagnetic material, the results obtained gives forms of both voltages and currents, which shows that they are in accordance with those of experimental tests, respecting the conditions recommended by the magnetron manufacturer
