Abstract

This paper established a relationship between multi-spectral palm images and a face image based on multiple fusion methods. The first fusion method to be considered is a feature extraction between different multi-spectral palm images, where multi-spectral CASIA database was used. The second fusion method to be considered is a score fusion between two parts of an output face image. Our method suggests that both right and left hands are used, and that each hand aims to produce a significant part of a face image by using a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) network. This will lead to the second fusion part to reconstruct the full-face image, in order to examine its appearance. This topology provided interesting results of Equal Error Rate (EER) equal to 1.99%.

Abstract

On-going big data from social networks sites alike Twitter or Facebook has been an entrancing hotspot for investigation by researchers in current decades as a result of various aspects including up-to-date-ness, accessibility and popularity; however anyway there may be a trade off in accuracy. Moreover, clustering of twitter data has caught the attention of researchers. As such, an algorithm which can cluster data within a lesser computational time, especially for data streaming is needed. The presented adaptive clustering and classification algorithm is used for data streaming in Apache spark to overcome the existing problems is processed in two phases. In the first phase, the input pre-processed twitter data is viably clustered utilizing an Improved Fuzzy C-means clustering and the proposed clustering is additionally improved by an Adaptive Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Further the clustered data streaming is assessed utilizing spark engine. In the second phase, the input pre-processed Higgs data is classified utilizing the modified support vector machine (MSVM) classifier with grid search optimization. At long last the optimized information is assessed in spark engine and the assessed esteem is utilized to discover an accomplished confusion matrix. The proposed work is utilizing Twitter dataset and Higgs dataset for the data streaming in Apache Spark. The computational examinations exhibit the superiority ofpresented approach comparing with the existing methods in terms of precision, recall, F-score, convergence, ROC curve and accuracy.

Abstract

Utilizing Gouy-Chapman-Stern model can improve ISFET sensitivity and stability using Stern layer in direct contact with electrolyte in ISFET sensing window. However, this model remains a challenge in mathematical way, unless it’s re-applied using accurate simulation approaches. Here, we developed an approach using a commercial Silvaco TCAD to re-apply Gouy-Chapman-Stern model as ISFET sensing membrane to investigate its impact on sensitivity and stability of conventional ISFET. Sio2 material and high-k Ta2O5 material have been examined based on Gouy-Chapman and Gouy-Chapman-Stern models. Results shows that the ISFET sensitivity of SiO2 sensing membrane is improved from ~38 mV/pH to ~51 mV/pH and the VTH shift stability is also improved. Additionally, the results indicate that the sensitivity of Ta2O5 is 59.03 mV/pH that hit the Nearnst Limit 59.3 mV/pH and achieves good agreements with mathematical model and previous experimental results. In conclusion, this investigation introduces a real validation of previous mathematical models using commercial TCAD approach rather than expensive fabrication that paves the way for further analysis and optimization.

Abstract

This study proposed the triple-layer remote phosphor (TRP) structure to enhance the color quality and the emitted luminous flux of white LEDs (WLEDs). The TRP structure consists of three different phosphor layers that are arranged as follows: the yellow YAG:Ce3+ phosphor at the bottom, the red phosphor layer CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+,Mn2+ at the top and the green Ba2Li2Si2O7:Sn2+,Mn2+ phosphor between these two ones. The aim to use the red CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+,Mn2+ phosphor is to control the red light component so that the color rendering index (CRI) could be increased. While the green Ba2Li2Si2O7:Sn2+,Mn2+ phosphor is applied to manage the green light component, leading to the rise in luminous efficacy (LE) of WLEDs. Moreover, when the concentrations of these two phosphors are raised, that of the yellow phosphor YAG:Ce3+ has to be decreased to remain the average correlated color temperatures (ACTTs) in a range from 6000 K to 8500 K. Furthermore, not only the CRI and LE but the color quality scale (CQS) is also analyzed by controlling the two green and red phosphor concentrations. The researched results show that the higher the concentration of CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+,Mn2+, the more enhancements in the CRI will be made. In contrast, when the Ba2Li2Si2O7:Sn2+,Mn2+ concentration increases, the CRI significantly decreases. Meanwhile, CQS is likely to considerably rise in a concentration range from 10% to 14% of CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+,Mn2+, regardless of the presence of Ba2Li2Si2O7:Sn2+,Mn2+ concentration. Especially, in parallel with the improvement of CRI and CQS, the LE could be also increased by more than 40% due to the decline in back-scattering lights and the green lights supplement. From these details, the results of this study are valuable references for manufacturers to achieve the goals of enhancing color quality and luminous efficiency of WLEDs.

Abstract

This paper presents a detailed review on performance indicators for smart grid (SG) such as voltage stability enhancement, reliability evaluation, vulnerability assessment, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and communication systems. Smart grids reliability assessment can be performed by analytically or by simulation. Analytical method utilizes the load point assessment techniques, whereas the simulation technique uses the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) technique. The reliability index evaluations will consider the presence or absence of energy storage elements using the simulation technologies such as MCS, and the analytical methods such as systems average interruption frequency index (SAIFI), and other load point indices. This paper also presents the difference between SCADA and substation automation, and the fact that substation automation, though it uses the basic concepts of SCADA, is far more advanced in nature.

Abstract

This article shows the implementation of a system that uses a graphic interface to load a digital image into a programmable logic device, which is stored in its internal RAM memory and is responsible for visualizing it in a matrix of RGB LEDs, so that This way, the LEDs show an equivalent to the image that was sent from the PC, conserving an aspect ratio and respecting as much as possible the color of the original image. To carry out this task, a Matlab script was designed to load the image, convert and format the data, which are transmitted to the FPGA using the RS232 protocol. The FPGA is in charge of receiving them, storing them and generating all the signals of control and synchronization of the system including the control of the PWM signals necessary to conserve the brightness of each one of the LEDs. This system allows the visualization of static images in standard formats and, in addition, thanks to the flexibility of the hardware used, it allows the visualization of moving images type GIF.

Abstract

A two-branch microwave active bandpass filter is designed through the channelized filtering technique as well as the transversal concept. Both the main and the auxiliary branches, connected without power dividers/combiners, rely on C-coupled active third order Chebyshev bandpass filters. A lumped element signal delay circuit is also introduced in the main channel. Active inductors based on the gyrator-C topology, are involved in the Chebyshev filters’ structure. CMOS-based Operational Transconductor Amplifier (OTA) circuits are the building blocks of these inductors. The proposed active transversal channelized filter produces an elliptic narrow band response, centered at 1.13 GHz. Simulation results, obtained by means of the PSPICE code according to the 0.18 μm TSMC MOS technology, indicate excellent performances illustrating good impedance matching, low insertion losses and high selectivity. Finally, the noise analysis shows that the filter has a low noise figure in the bandwidth.

Abstract

An attempt to develop a monoester type insulating oil, especially methyl ester is being conducted and the current results after conducting two kinds of treatment, namely, filtration and water reduction arereported in this paper. Five different samples were prepared from methyl ester oil based on their melting point. The important properties of oil samples such as breakdown voltage, viscosity, water content, acidity, and density were tested, and are evaluated based on the standard specification of natural ester used for the transformer, ASTM D-6871. Another important property, i.e. oxidation stability was also tested and is evaluated by comparing the corresponding result of mineral oil. It is found that the breakdown voltage, the viscosity and the relative density of the oil fulfill the requirements specified by the standard, whereas other properties like water content, acidity and oxidation stability need further improvement.
