Abstract

In this paper, optimal load dispatch problem under competitive electric market (OLDCEM) is solved by the combination of cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) and a new constraint handling approach, called modified cuckoo search algorithm (MCSA). In addition, we also employ the constraint handling method for salp swarm algorithm (SSA) and particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) to form modified SSA (MSSA) and modified PSO (MPSO). The three methods have been tested on 3-unit system and 10-unit system under the consideration of payment model for power reserve allocated, and constraints of system and generators. Result comparisons among MCSA and CSA indicate that the proposed constraint handling method is very useful for metaheuristic algorithms when solving OLDCEM problem. As compared to MSSA, MPSO as well as other previous methods, MCSA is more effective by finding higher total benefit for the two systems with faster manner and lower oscillations. Consequently, MCSA method is a very effective technique for OLDCEM problem in power systems.

Abstract

Indonesia has a capital city which is one of the many big cities in the world called Jakarta. Jakarta's role in the dynamics that occur in Indonesia is very central because it functions as a political and government center, and is a business and economic center that drives the economy. Recently the discourse of the government to relocate the capital city has invited various reactions from the community. Therefore, in this study, sentiment analysis of the relocation of the capital city was carried out. The analysis was performed by doing a classification to describe the public sentiment sourced from twitter data, the data is classified into 2 classes, namely positive and negative sentiments. The algorithms used in this study include Naïve Bayes classifier, logistic regression, support vector machine, and K-nearest neighbor. The results of the performance evaluation algorithm showed that support vector machine outperformed as compared to 3 algorithms with the results of Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F-measure are 97.72%, 96.01%, 99.18%, and 97.57%, respectively. Sentiment analysis of the discourse of relocation of the capital city is expected to provide an overview to the government of public opinion from the point of view of data coming from social media.

Abstract

Mosquito-borne disease such as dengue fever is a pervasive public health problem around the world and further investigation is needed to rectify the misunderstanding of the disease among communities. This requires a personalized information delivery, which will effectively fix the problem. The process of personalizing information requires several major steps: (i) determine the attributes which will be used to interpret a person, (ii) selects an algorithm which will accurately and efficiently classify the person according to the retrieved background information, and (iii) recommends the correct information to rectify the particular misunderstanding. This research paper considers the first two steps. First, data regarding the knowledge, attitudes and prevention practices are determined from the established literature where some variables give a significant impact on the predictive model. In the second step, five performed machine learning algorithms were tested for the classification task. The result indicates that the use of Support Vector Machine and Decision Tree algorithms provide the best performance in classifying the person’s understanding regarding the dengue fever.

Abstract

In a world where the algorithm can control the lives of society, it is not surprising that specific complications in determining the fairness in the algorithmic decision will arise at some point. Machine learning has been the de facto tool to forecast a problem that humans cannot reliably predict without injecting some amount of subjectivity in it (i.e., eliminating the “irrational” nature of humans). In this paper, we proposed a framework for defining a fair algorithm metric by compiling information and propositions from various papers into a single summarized list of fairness requirements (guideline alike). The researcher can then adopt it as a foundation or reference to aid them in developing their interpretation of algorithmic fairness. Therefore, future work for this domain would have a more straightforward development process. We also found while structuring this framework that to develop a concept of fairness that everyone can accept, it would require collaboration with other domain expertise (e.g., social science, law, etc.) to avoid any misinformation or naivety that might occur from that particular subject. That is because this field of algorithmic fairness is far broader than one would think initially; various problems from the multiple points of view could come by unnoticed to the novice’s eye. In the real world, using active discriminator attributes such as religion, race, nation, tribe, religion, and gender become the problems, but in the algorithm, it becomes the fairness reason.

Abstract

The GDP (Gross domestic product) of most countries in the world are base on the regular basis of agriculture contribution of that particular country. The current weather conditions in the world and crop loss are the main reason for its contribution to GDP. New technologies and advanced fertilizers are now used in farming though these technologies and advanced fertilizers do not reach farmers till now. In this paper, a concept for the automated watering system in agriculture is introduce which uses wireless sensors technology for the detection of moisture in the soil suitable for agriculture using a smartphone application which will play a critical role in agriculture. The automatic watering to plants using the Arduino system and android app is use. Even this application of Android will provide information to the farmers related to agriculture like costs of seeds, level of moisture required, amount of water needed, which type of soil required, forecast weather, fertilizers to be used and pesticides required.

Abstract

Bioinks of 3D bioprinting have significant potential application in the field of tissue engineering to support cell attachment and proliferation. In this work, the alginate-gelatin-CELC (AGLC) bioink based on different compositions of alginate-gelatin (AG) hydrogel and cholesteryl ester liquid crystals (CELC) was prepared. Primarily, the alginate-gelatin hydrogel with certain concentration of gelatin (10-50%w/v) was investigated. The printability of the hydrogel reached a minimum width of 1.8 mm at a flow rate of 1 mL/min when the gelatin concentration was increased to 50% w/v (AG1050). Subsequently, the respective polymers with 10% w/v alginate and 50% w/v gelatin blended with 1%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, and 60% w/v of CELC in the preparation of the alginate-gelatin-CELC bioink was further investigated. The printability of the bioink was examined by micro-extrusion based 3D bioprinter. The printability of the bioink enhanced by 27.8% as compared to AG1050 and reached a minimum width of 1.3 mm at a flow rate of 1 mL/min when the CELC concentration was increased to 40% and 60%. The tested properties of the bioink show that the CELC improve shear-thinning and lipid moieties properties to the composite bioink and hence, enhances its printability.

Abstract

Controllers are the key component of Software-defined Network (SDN) architecture. Given the diversity of open SDN controllers, the following question arises for the network administrators: How can we choose the appropriate SDN controller? Different characteristics of the controllers have greatly increased the complexity of the right decision. Multi-Criteria Decision-making Methods (MCDMs) is a family of robust mathematical tools to address complex problems regarding multiple objectives. In this paper, we study the most important features of SDN controllers. To this end, we compare the well-known SDN controllers including NOX, POX, Beacon, Floodlight, Ryu, ODL, and ONOS. Leveraging a novel MCDM technique called the Best–Worst Multi-criteria (BWM), we find the most appropriate SDN controller. We solve an optimization problem and evaluate its performance in terms of significant criteria such as throughput and latency. Initial evaluation revealed that the ONOS and ODL have the highest throughput, while the lowest throughputs belong to the NOX, POX, and Ryu. However, final evaluation concerning all criteria confirmed the robustness of the ONOS and the ODL compared to other controllers.

Abstract

Small cell networks are expected to heavily be deployed in wireless communication networks due to it ability to enhance signals quality and spectrum utilisation. However, interference is posing a major threat to wireless communication especially cellular femtocell networks whereby its performance is degraded in dense deployment areas. For this reason, an enhanced fractional frequency reuse approach is proposed in this paper to mitigate the interference in femtocell networks. This is achieved by dividing the service area and frequency into three regions and three sets whereby each set is allocated different frequency set. The femtocell location is later obtained and assigned frequency in accordance to the region. The proposed approach helps in reducing the interference, boost the signal to interference plus noise (SINR), and enhance the throughput.

Abstract

This paper introduces a DC-AC inverter design that operates stand alone to deliver power from solar photovoltaic (PV) to the load directly without going through the battery. In batteryless solar PV, the output voltage of solar PV always varies according to solar irradiation, temperature, so that it becomes a challenge in modelling DC-AC inverter with constant output voltage. The design consists of a boost converter, h-bridge switching and driver, and LC filter to generate sinusoidal ac voltage as output to load. To ensure a constant inverter output voltage, the design equipped by a close loop PI controller based on voltage control mode. The design modelled and simulated by PSIM. PV dc input was set variation according to the irradiation value (W/m2) and the output connected to a load that has rated voltage of 220 Vac and 3.4 A of nominal current. The results show that in the irradiation variation 600-1500 W/m2, the inverter was able to maintain the output voltage of 220 Vac ± 0.91%, 50 Hz which is still in the voltage range based on standard. The efficiency produced by DC-AC inverter 97.7% at 600 W/m2 and 83.6% at 1500 W/m2.

Abstract

According to WHO, Dengue fever is the most critical and most rapidly mosquito-borne disease in the world over 50 years. Currently, the presence and detection of Aedes aegypti larvae (dengue-mosquitoes vector’s) are only quantified by human perception. In large-scale data, we need to automate the process of larvae detection and classification as much as possible. This paper introduces the new method to automate Aedes larvae. We use Culex larva for comparison. This method consists of data acquisition of recorded motion video, spatial movement patterns, and image statistical classification. The results show a significant difference between the biological movements of Aedes aegypti and Culex under the same environmental conditions. In 50 videos consisting of 25 Aedes larvae videos and 25 Culex larvae videos, the accuracy was 84%.
