Abstract

The lead-lag power system stabilizer has several parameters to be optimized.In fact, the number of these latter increases with the number of generators constituting the multi-machine system.In this work, we propose anew approach of an adaptive and robust PSS; it achieves encouraging results by adjusting the gain using fuzzy logic and in the same time we use the same PSSs for each machine. In the first place, we could check that the gain is among the most critical parameters of the lead lag PSS. The parameters are globally optimized by the genetic algorithm, after that an expertise on the speed and the gain variations allow the value prediction according to the velocity deviation. To validate our results, a robustness test was made on a multimachine system IEEE (3 machines 9 bus), for different loads and the results showed good performance and robustness of the presented PSS.

Abstract

The African continent is ranked second most populated region and has a huge amount of natural resources to be locally transformed or outsourced overseas. The traditional telecommunications system has helped connect people and enabled them to manage their businesses and trading in Africa for a long-time; many African countries have embarked early in changing their network and technology systems during the first years of the information age. Over a few decades ago, the introduction of new telecommunication methods and techniques have influenced much of African countries’ growth via different perspectives. The situation has triggered an enormous interest in people. They analyzed the factors supporting such changes, which in the case of this paper is all about the advent and adoption of LTE/4G-LTE technologies including its service commercialization in Africa. This review article attempts to provide an overview of 4G-LTE networks technologies and the internet; it includes the current evolution of telecommunication networks within and even beyond the African continent, assisted by the 4G-LTE expansion. An extended view is provided throughout this article’s development with respect to what could be expected (or is missing) for the sake of this continent’s telecommunication infrastructure enhancement and a better QoS to Africa’s dwellers.

Abstract

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a type of multicarrier modulation (MCM) technique in which larger bandwidth is divided into parallel narrow bands each of which is modulated by different subcarriers. All the subcarriers are orthogonal to each other and hence it reduces the interference among various subcarriers. OFDM technique is an efficient modulation technique used in certain wired and wireless application.In a wireless communication channel, the transmitted signal can travel from transmitter to receiver over multiple reflective paths. This results to multipath fading which causes fluctuations in amplitude, phase and angle of arrival of the received signal. For example, the signal which is transmitted from BTS (base transceiver station) may suffer multiple reflections from the buildings nearby, before reaching the mobile station. Such multipath fading channels are classified into slow fading/fast fading and frequency-selective/flat fading channels. This paper discusses the performance of OFDM system using various fading channels and channel coding. The parameter which is known as Bit error rate (BER) is calculated under different fading channels (AWGN, Rayleigh and Rician) for different digital modulation (BPSK, QPSK and QAM) and Channel coding (linear/Cyclic coding). Matlab Simulink tool is used to calculate the BER parameter.

Abstract

The Network simulator helps the developer to create and simulate new models on an arbitrary network by specifying both the behavior of the network nodes and the communication channels. It provides a virtual environment for an assortment of desirable features such as modeling a network based on a specific criteria and analyzing its performance under different scenarios. This saves cost and time required for testing the functionality and the execution of network. This paper has surveyed various Wireless Network Simulators and compared them.

Abstract

This paper describes different methods  on-chip test generation method for functional tests. The hardware was based on application of primary input sequences in order to allow the circuit to produce reachable states. Random primary input sequences were modeled to avoid repeated synchronization and thus yields varied sets of reachable states by implementing a decoder in between circuit and LFSR. The on-chip generation of functional tests require simple hardware and achieved high transition fault coverage for testable circuits. Further, power and delay can be reduced by using Bit Swapping LFSR (BS-LFSR). This technique yields less number of transitions for all pattern generation. Bit-swapping (BS) technique is less complex and more reliable to hardware miscommunications.

Abstract

With the increase in traffic, internet service providers are trying their best to provide maximum utilization of resources available. The current traffic load has to be taken into account for computation of paths in routing protocols. Network applications; require the shortest paths to be used for communication purposes. Addressing the selection of path, from a known source to destination is the basic aim of this paper. This paper proposes a method of calculating the shortest path for a network using a combination of Open shortest path first and Genetic Algorithm (OSGA). Genetic Algorithm is used in this paper for optimization of routing. It helps in enhancing the performance of the routers.

Abstract

Wireless sensor networks idea is envisioned and defined as self-deployed, error prone, long living inexpensive communication devices that are densely deployed to collect data from physical space. Sensor nodes communicate with each other to detect events depending on the application, to collect and process data, and to transmit the sensed information to the base station by hopping the data from node to node. Major challenge in wireless network is energy consumption, since the sensor devices are deployed on unattended wide areas and replacing their batteries is not very feasible. Therefore, designing energy-aware algorithms becomes a major challenge for extending the lifetime of sensors. The lifetime of the network can be maximized by selecting the most optimal cluster head. In this paper, a heuristic decision making approach is proposed for producing energy-aware clusters with optimal selection of cluster head. This helps to improve the efficiency and accuracy and overcome the drawbacks like getting trapped at a local extreme in the optimization process.

Abstract

The research used watermarking techniques to obtain the image originality. The aims of the research were to identify small area in eggs properly and compared preprocessing, the methods, and the results of image processing. The study has been improved from the previous papers by combined all methods and analysis was obtained.This study was conducted by using centroid and the bounding box for determining the object and the small area of chicken eggs. The segmentation method was used to compare the original image and the watermarked image. Image processing using image data that are subject watermark to maintain the authenticity of the images used in the study will the impact in delivering the desired results. In the identification of chicken eggs using watermark image using several methods are expected to provide results as desired. Segmentation also deployed to process the Image and counted the objects. The results showed that the process of segmentation and objects counting determined that the original image and watermarked image had the same value and recognized eggs. Identification had determined percentage of 100% for all the samples.

An increasing interest of using Z source inverter/converter in power generation involving renewable energy sources like wind and solar energy for both off grid and grid tied schemes were originated from 2003. Abstract

One type of underwater robot is the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) whose movements are controlled directly by humans from the water surface. In this paper, ROV prototype has been designed and tested with three DoF (Degrees of Freedom) and controlled by a joystick which is connected with UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cables as data transmission between joystick with a microcontroller embedded in the robot. This prototype has 3 thrusters with 3 degrees of freedom, 1 rotational motion (heave) and 2 translational motion (yaw and surge), with direction of movement up, down, forward, backward, turn right, and turn left. Speed mode setting when forward movement on PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) 75% = 0,037 m/s, 90% = 0.053 m/s and 100% = 0,071 m/s, while the reverse speed by 75% = 0,034 m/s, 90% = 0.045 m/s and 100% = 0.059 m/s, when the ROV moves up is 0,042 m/s, down 0.032 m/s, turn right 9 o/s and turn left 15 o/s set with fixed PWM value, is 100%.
