Abstract

This study examined how students’ scientific writing skills changed over as they participated in the Reading Project Based Learning (RPjBL) model. This action research was conducted by Biology Teacher of Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in SebelasMaret University. The results show that the scientificwriting level increased on the last writing activities. It was suggested that RPjBL could have a positive impact on students’ scientific writing. Students who experienced the RPjBL emphasized the sentences reflecting the application and used high cognitive level sentences.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce a lecture model of chemical education management based on lesson study as an effort to improve chemistry teacher candidates’ professionalism. This study used a model of ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Implement-Develop-Evaluate). Based on the results of the reflection, lecturer and team can arrange the post-presentation activities (discussing material theoretically) with a variety of management practices in the field. Activities will be carried out by presenting a real problem in the field to find the solution, thus the students’ curiosity about management implementation will be fulfilled. Lecture Model of Chemical Education Management Based on Lesson Study can improve the chemistry teacher candidates’ professionalism, primarily in preparing, presenting and being responsible of their work by learning from their learning experience.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is then subdivided in to two spesific goal as follows to describe the cognitive competence of students or junior high science teacher candidates reflected in the activities of pretest and posttest on Integrated Science course. Research design using pre-experimental research design to study design one group pretest-posttest design. The conclusions obtained in this study were 1) Observation of simulation activities or pedagogical students each, student obtained score of 1.9 to 2.5 was categorized good.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find the impact of feedback in formative assessment in the learning process activity and students learning outcomes on learning chemistry. The method used on this study was quasi experiment research with non-equivalent control group design. The result showed that the application of feedback in formative assessment has a positive impact toward students learning process activity. Students become more enthusiastic, motivated, and more active on the learning process. Thus in this study can be conclude that feedback in formative assessment have a positive impact toward the learning process activity to form a habits of mind.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students’ decision making strategy to answer TIMSS science reasoning test in cognitive reasoning domain. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The result shows that students tend to use compensatory strategy for decision making in solving multiple-choice questions and use rational category to answer essay questions. The result shows that more than half of students have been able to answer the questions TIMSS science tests correctly.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the implementation of the IDEAL (Identify, Define, Explore, Anticipat and Act, Looking Back and Learn) problem solving model of Bransford (1998) on the lecture material flow of genetic information, its influence on the mastery of conceps. The method uses quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control design. The results of the research show that : (1) the lecture model of problem solving IDEAL on the material flow of genetic information can implemented very well in each stage; (2) had a significant influence on student mastery of concepts; (3) in each of the indicators developed, the experimental class, it is known that the lectures with a problem-solving model of the flow of information on the subject of genetically high yield category on several indicators; (4) gives effect to the problem solving ability of students.
