Abstract

The focus of this research is the management of vocational education techniques describedin the problem of engine research: planning, implementation and evaluation ofvocational education of Mechanical Engineering. The method used is a qualitative approachwith case studies of type procedures: (1) pre-field, (2) ekprolasi focus, then (3)data analysis. Techniques to obtain data by: (1) interviews, (2) observation, and (3) studythe document. Data analysis with inductive thinking techniques with the procedure: (1)data reduction, (2) data display, then (3) draw conclusions and verification. Results of research:(1) Planning is carried out through: the identification of needs through to the informationsearch and internet industry, the formulation of plans through workshops bypresenting representatives from business and industry, establishing a plan with the boardattended the plenary meeting of teachers, parents, learners and the school committee, andevaluation plan by Evabang, (2) exercising their education by organizing, coordinationand cooperation with business and industry to implement the learning in the form of thetheory by inserting character education, industry practices and work practices, and (3)Evaluation, including: evaluation external of the BAN-S/M and ISO, an internal evaluationconsists of: the performance evaluation of teachers by the school principal, teacherevaluation of learning by training the eye, prakerin evaluation by the industry, competencytest by the department manager, Middle Semester Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy End ofSemester, Examination Theory and practice with the committees, and labor recruitmenttest by the manager of BKK and industry recruiters.Keywords: vocational education, engineering mechanical

Abstract

The background study of this research is to develop a learning model of the world oftemperature and heat for vocational school that does not have a physics laboratorium andalso to improve SMK students soft skills who want to enter the world of work. The goalsof this research are (1) developing a learning model to study temperature and heatthrough automotive workshop activity (2) knowing the learning model contribution oftemperature and heat through automotive workshop activity on improving vocationalstudents’ soft skills. This research material is temperature and heat, and the subject ofthis research is the 1Ith grade students of SMK 1 Sukoharjo, Wonosobo which consist ofthree classes. One class acts as small-scale experiment group, and two classes act aslarge-scale experiment group. The method used in this research is the Research and Developmentmethod (R&D). Data where gathered from self-evaluation list about soft skillsthrough pre-test and post-test and observation. Implementation data of this learningmodel were taken from the score level of learning accomplishment. The analysis of softskills being used in this research is the score taken into percentage, whereas normality,homogencity and differential test are using SPSS. Analysis results of the students softskills percentage in the first small-scale experiment is 31%, in the second small-scale experimentis 44%, in the third small scale experiment is 59%, and differential test forthose three experiments show significant difference, which means there is an improvementof soft skills on each experiment. The results of the percentage analysis for largescaleexperiments on experimental class for the improvement of students’ soft skillsthrough pre-test and post-test score is 65% whereas control class is 38%. SPSS analysisof the data are normally distributed and homogenous, differential test shows that the experimentalclass gives a better result than control class, so it can be concluded that thelearning model through automotive workshop activity is effectively improving vocationalscholl students’ soft skills.Keywords: Soft Skills, Learning Model, Vocational Automotive.

Abstract

This research is the development research, done by applying 4-D Thiagarajan model, thathas been modified, by four phases of developing process. They are: defining, planning,developing, and disseminating. One that is developed is learning devices that includessyllabus, lesson plan, student work sheet, student book, and ability problem solving testinstrument. Techniques of data collection in this research by using validation sheetlearning teaching process set, observation of student activity sheet, questionnaire ofmotivates to study sheet, observation teacher capability sheet in learning teachingmanagement and the test of student’s ability of problem solving. The result of thisresearch shows that learning devices is valid and effective. The validity and the effectivitylearning devices shown by from result of try out are: students’ ability in problem solvinghas reached the mastery learning, higher than KKM; the average of students’ ability inproblem solving by using learning devices with IDEAL problem solving strategy withcharacter education content is 74,69 is higher than the average of students’ ability inproblem solving using expository with conventional teamwork that is only 70,75; thestudents’ activity and studying motivation in the learning process influence positively tothe students’ ability problem solving. The character education content that is observed isgood category in observation of student activity.Keywords: Character Education, Development, Problem Solving
