Abstract

This research is a kind of developing research, which develops learning instruments visioned by SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, and Society). The main purpose of this research is to find out the improvement and learning result of physics subjects, especially in optical devices, of Xth grader students at SMA 1 Semarang. This purpose is held by implementing learning set/unit envisioned by SETS. This research is also held to know the impact of creativity in learning result. The subject for this reseach is class X.2 which consists of 39 students and is choosen randomly (cluster random sampling) from 9 regular classes exist. To understand the improvement of creativity and learning result of students, the writer makes some tests of verbal creativity and comprehension on the concepts of optical devices. The responds from the subject is known by giving a questionnaire about the learning process. Result of students creativity observed was 52% at the beginning and increase to 61% at the end. From the whole results of the learning process, the learning set/unit envisioned by SETS shows an improvement of learning result proved by increment of average value from 39 to 78 within the range of 0 – 100 so that 64% N-gain included in medium category.The lowest value before this process held was 19, and after this process held was 67. In addition, the highest value before this process held was 59, and after this process is held was 85. The influence of creativity to learning result of students is tested by analysis of simple regression, which tests normality of subject result in normal distribution. The value of R Square obtained in the research is 0.58. It means that students creativity influences the learning result by 58%. Meanwhile the rest of 42% (100%- 58%) was influenced by other factors which were not learnt in this study.

Abstract

Based on the data analyses problem in the SMPN 40 Semarang there low motivation, only was 20% active in the learning process, and the low of the study result indicate the lower quality of learning happened in the class VII D SMPN 40 Semarang in 2009/ 2010. That this cause there is no variation media in the learning process interaction in the ecosystem. The problems of the classroom action reasearch was “Did application of variation media inthe learning process is to improve the quality learning about interaction in the ecosystem in the class VII D ?“. The goal of the car were to increase: 1. The learning process more then pull, (2) the learning process more then interctive, (3) the quality of learning then more, (4) times efficient and energy. The subject topics were Exretion Systems and Nerve Systems. The Car is held in three cycle : in VII D class with 32 students. The research revealed that the number of students who involve in scientific work from the I-III cycles were 68,5 %, 77.7%and 82% respectively. In the I-III cycle, the number of students who satisfied with the teaching learning process was 89,06%, 90,7%, 99% respectively. The percentage teaher activity from the I-III cycle 56%, 75 %, 89.93 %. There were 59%, 65.625%, 75%, the students test result.

Abstract

This study is about the use of Writing Workshop as a strategy in Paragraph Based Writing (PBW) class to improve students’ ability in writing a paragraph. The statement of the problems in this study are (1) how Writing Workshop strategy can be used in PBW class to improve the ability of 3 semester English department students of Unnes in writing a paragraph, and (2) whether the use of Writing Workshop can change the students attitude when they are asked to write a paragraph. Its aim is to describe how writing workshop strategy can be used to improve the ability of 3 rd semester English department students of Unnes to write a paragraph. The research methodology was Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was done in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four meetings. In those cycles, the students involved in all activities of writing workshop startegy, such as mini lesson, writing time, sharing (author’s chair), and writing celebration. In cycle one, the material was about narrative texts. In cycle two, the material was about expository texts. The result showed that there was an improvement in the students’ scores between pre test and post test scores. It was 39.25. Another good results could be seen from the observation and interview. The students’ understanding of the materials was good. Their writing of a paragraph got better constantly. For example, the ideas were getting better, the organization of paragraph was correct, the appropriatteness of grammar and diction was accurate, also the mechanics were good. Besides, the students were more motivated.
