Abstract

ABSTRACT A growing number of cafes in Denpasar accompanied by hanging out (nongkrong) culture which is becoming increasingly common among young people nowdays becomes an interesting phenomenon to be analyzed. This research attempts to explain the relation between the existence of cafes with hanging out culture which are formed in terms of how young people assess the function of the exsistence of the café itself. Through the perspective of ‘consumption society theory’ and qualitative research methods, it was found that the culture of hanging out in the cafe for young people not only to enjoy a limited menu provided, but the young people as consumers were also taking space as a form of self definition that exists as efforts to establish their lifestyle. This research was conducted in three different cafes and focused on youth aged 18 to 24 years. Based on the results of research obtained that the spread of cafes in the city of Denpasar was a response to the presence of young people exsistence that loaded to meet the desires, tastes, and the establishment of their lifestyle. The café was not only become a place to hang out functionally, but also interpreted has shifted from use values that led to sign values. The café was no longer an essential place for mere physical or biological needs, but as a symbol of self-existence and lifestyle of young people in Denpasar. Abstract

Trash bank is one of the organizations in the environmental field. The existence of trash bank in Dangin Puri Kangin village is appreciated by people there. It can be seen by the Dangin Puri Kangin people’s enthusiasm in joining trash bank program. The problems in this study are how is the mechanisms to save in Trash Bank which is located in Wijaya Kusuma, why do the people interested to invest/saving in trash bank in Wijaya Kusuma, and the what is the benefits to invest/saving in Trash Bank in Wijaya Kusuma. Furthermore, the social exchange theory from George Caspar Homans is used in this study. Homans divided his theory into six propositions. The result of this study is three propositions by Homans found, they are the success proposition, the stimulus proposition, and the value proposition. Furthermore, there are five people’s mechanisms of utilizing trash through 3R such as sorting trash, bringing trash to trash bank, weighing, recording the amount of trash according to the weight and kind, and the trash weighing record can make money. The reason people are interested in saving in Wijaya Kusuma Trash Bank is money, and the benefits gained after saving at Wijaya Kusuma Trash Bank are economic, environmental, and educational benefits. Abstract

The existence of murals in public spaces at Denpasar City can be analyzed by the study of sociology. The aim of this study discusses the issues and therefore explaines the problem involved in the presence of murals at Denpasar City. This study uses qualitative research methods with an explanatory analysis of the social space theory of Henri Lafebvre which has three main dimensions: spacial space, representation of space, and representational space. Based on the results of this research, it shows that the existence of murals is currently consistent with the expectation of community and the production of social space through murals in Denpasar city which has been supported by the government of Denpasar City. However, the government has provided space for mural artists to work although the theme for every mural still determined by them, so this condition may led to the collapse production of social space that had been under taken by the mural artists in Denpasar. Abstract

ABSTRACT Implementation of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) PT. Pertamina (Persero) have done through empowerment of Wanasari Fisherman Group, Tuban. The empowerment program is a cultivation of mangrove crabs and forest conservation in Integrated Ecotourism Wanasari. This research is using qualitative descriptive method to describe the flow of empowerment and influence of mangrove crab cultivation program through observation, interviews and secondary data analysis as a data collection method. Structural Functional and Community Empowerment theory has been used to analyze this research. The program uses the concept of bottom-up in implementation of community empowerment. The adaptation of empowerment starts from social mapping to explore the potential of local communities. The success mangrove crab cultivation gives effect to the new program in Integrated Ecotourism Wanasari Tuban, namely the mangrove forest education program, culinary tourism, art, culture and ecotourism. Abstract

The Balinese Hinduism community performs religious ceremonies using a means called banten, banten as a means of religious ceremony to accompany every ceremony in the daily life of Balinese Hinduism community. Banten is made in a cooperative manner by the Balinese Hinduism community, but the emergence of thought and efficiency in society makes banten as consumer goods (commodity) that are traded by certain parties then known by the term commodification. Banten commodification caused by several things due to knowledge and skill, limited time and effort, economic limitation and strong market ideology. Banten commodification happened by the process which covering production, distribution, and consumption process. Then, banten commodification have the impact on the social, cultural, economic and material. Keywords: banten, commodification, market ideology.

Abstract

ABSTRAK The appearance Gojek with concept of transformation for ojek conventional by combining technology and ojek services trigger the pros and cons in there society. This research would to explain types of rejection from ojek conventional for appearance Gojek in Denpasar City and influence aspects toward consistency from ojek conventional. This research was qualitative methods using the rational choice theory’s James S. Coleman and the social action theory’s Max Weber. The results of this study about rejection from ojek conventional for appearance Gojek it doesn’t physical conflict directly. Their consistency set of social ties, solidarity, a system or a different way of working. Resources owned by actor or an ojek conventional: ojek member on base, users of ojek conventional, the base is still affordable for all people. There are 4 types of ojek conventional action: the act of instrumental rationality be based on economic needs, the act of value rationality on ojek conventional has structure it also reflects, the act of affection rationality (affectual action) related users of ojek conventional or passengers were satisfied with the service made an ojek conventional have customer remain and the act of traditional rationality such as the system bargaining or negotiation of price with passengers, as well it was usage a long time ago. Abstract

ABSTRACT The discourse on persons with disabilities, especially in hearing impairment social stigmatization could be analyzed through the study of sociology. This study seeks to discuss and explain the experiences of the deafs when they are experiencing, interpreting, even beyond the labeling on their disability. This study used qualitative research methods to the analysis of the theory of phenomenology which focused on three deaf adolescence (middle adolescence), and involve the family, the teacher of SLBB on Sidakarya, and Sanggar Sandi Muni Kumara as one of the deaf dance community in Denpasar City. Based on the results of this study, it is found that social stigmatization could arise from inside and from outside ourselves. Both aspects are mutually influencing and shaping the characteristics of young people with hearing impairment. Characteristics that are formed by the social stigmatization also determine how the deaf adolescence with the limitations of communicating ability to adapt themselves in communities that generally use verbal language. Abstract

One of the educational institutions namely SDPN Tulangampaiang Denpasar has experienced a conflict, the school that should be a place to take knowledge now instead turned into a conflict factor. The conflict is caused by there is a person who intervened in taking the policy which done by the school. Furthermore, the acceptance of freshmen at SDPN Tulangampiang is used as an opportunity to obtain money by the person. The person would not be able to intervene without the permission of the power holders in PemecutanKaja Village. The problems of this research were: 1) why there is a freshmen acceptance conflict at SDPN Tulangampiang, 2) how is the mechanism of SDPN Tulangampiang party in handling the problem of freshmen acceptance, 3) how is the social impact of the conflict at SDPN Tulangampiang. The aim of this research was to find out the answer of those problems by using qualitative method. The theory used to analyze the data was theory of Society Conflict by Ralf Dahrendorf. The result showed that the freshmen acceptance conflict was caused by the village partyinsisted the school to accept the children in PemecutanKaja Village; in addition, it seen to be a chance to obtain an advantage by certain person. The mechanism that has been done was mediation between the banjar party and the school facilitated by the Village, the social impact of the conflict was the change of rules due to policies that made by the village’s headwho has the authority. The conclusion of this research was that the conflicting group was not exposed by media. Keywords: Conflict, freshmen acceptance

Abstract

This study examined the relation of slave-master between the main characters in Fifty Shades of Grey movie. The film was analyzed by using framing analysis technique Pan andKosicki. The result showed that literally Christian being the master while Anastasia as the slave. In addition of sexual intercourse, Christian also control of Anastasia’s life. The relation of the main characters could be reversed when it was examined through theory of social postmodern; slave-master discourse by Jacques Lacan. The Lacan’s slave-master discourse emphasizes the more enjoyment with utterance “who steals enjoyment greater than who”. Anastasia got more enjoyment that Christian, since her pleasure was preferred by him such as in sexual intercourse. Anastasia’s desire was also fulfilled by Christian; even she got many sacrifices such as sleeping uniformly and asked him to out with a helicopter. Therefore, Anastasia was being the master and Christian as the slave in Lacan perspective since she got more enjoyment than him. Keywords: BDSM, slave-master relation, slave-master discourse

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to get clear overview on tourism potency that exist at Subak Sukawayah Ubud, and to study participation of subak member (krama subak) in management of tourism potency  at Subak Sukawayah Ubud, and to find out furthermore on obstacle of subak member participation in manage of potency owned by Subak Sukawayah. This study used qualitative method. Data was collected by observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis technique is qualitative descriptive analysis. The result shows that: (1) there are three components of tourism potency at Subak Sukawayah that are, physic/nature, biotic, and culture social, that can be developed in many manifestation of attraction and tourism activity. (2) management of tourism potency of Subak Sukawayah not yet entangle of subak member participation in process of planning, implementation, benefit taken and evaluation (3) internal factor that blocking of subak member in participation to manage of potency of Subak Sukawayah as tourism attraction that are, ability of subak member human resource, institution of subak manager that still weak in response of tourism development, and weakness of manager in eforcement of awig-awig (subak law). While from external factor that are not yet exist harmonisation of management of tourism potency at Subak Sukawayah between entangle party, tourism provider (accomodation) domination by investor, and not yet exist the regulation which arrangement and environment conservation of subak physic.
