Journal Of Information Systems or abbriviated as JIS is a jorunal that published by Major Of Information Systems Faculty of Computer Science Sriwijaya University. JSI start published in April 2009, which is VOL 1 NO 1 2009. JSI published a journal twice in year , that is on April and October. The mission of JSI are to share, develop and facilitate the output of research paper about Information Systems. JSI also can be place for lectures, teachers, researchers, and all practitioners in the field of Information Technology througout Indonesia, to exchange information about the outputs of recent research that has been done. Abstract

Traditionally, a learning process is conducted in face to face form. However, due to technology development, it can be carried out in a virtual class. With conventional class, lecturer and students have a limited time to interact or discuss about the course content or other things. To answer the limitations, the traditional method can be combined with the utilizing of ICT, in form of Learning Management System (LMS). The system which heavily relied on internet connection has been adopted widely by many universities all over the world. This paper reports the implementation of LMS at University Bina Darma, specifically in Software Quality Assurance course. This paper covers the features of the LMS and the implementation result of utilizing LMS in SQA learning process. Some general issues and challenges of such initiatives implementation will also be discussed. Nevertheless, although it creates a new challenge for the student, the result indicates that there are no major different between before and after using the media.   Keywords: LMS, elearning, metode pembelajaran

Abstract

Pembangunan ICT di Indonesia saat ini sudah menerapkan IT Governance. Namun sebenarnya IT Governance adalah konsep yang relatif baru, khususnya di kalangan praktisi ICT Indonesia. Oleh sebab itu, diperlukan pemahaman tentang konsep dan manfaat IT Governance. Berbagai standar seperti COBIT, ITIL, kerangka-kerja IT Governance MIT Sloan CISR, dan sebagainya dapat digunakan sebagai referensi. Implementasinya diperlukan tahapan-tahapan yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi SDM yang ada. Pada penelitian ini akan dibahas IT Governance berdasarkan standar COBIT Framework. dengan tinjauan studi pustaka berbagai literatur dan beberapa referensi dari internet sebagai sumber informasi. Diiharapkan didapat pemahaman akan pentingnya impelemtasi IT Governance dimasa globalisasi saat ini dengan COBIT Framework sebagai salah satu alternatif yang dapat digunakan.   Kata kunci : ICT, IT Governance, COBIT, COBIT framework

Abstract

One of the main tasks of Computer Science Faculty of Sriwijaya University (Fasilkom Unsri) as one of the higher education institution is the academic management. Academic process in Fasilkom Unsri still emphasizes the use of word processing and spreadsheet applications that can result in delays and redundancy on the processing of data for syllabus, units lecture event, teachers’ attendance, and class schedules reports. The absence of a specialized system that monitors the lecture materials directly can also result in decision making process by the top-level-management becomes less optimal to improve the quality of higher education in the academic field. Development of Course Management Information Systems is an effort to facilitate the top-level-management (Dean, Assistant Dean) in business management and evaluation of the overall college process that has occurred in order to improve the quality of higher education in the academic field using computer-based systems.This study emphasizes the process of developing course management information systems at Fasilkom Unsri, particularly in systems analysis phase. The methodology used is the Framework for the Application of Systems Thinking (FAST). In this methodology there are some systems analysis processes, namely the scope definition, problem analysis, requirements analysis, logical design and decision analysis.This study produced a proposed system and application architecture of management information systems courses in Fasilkom Unsri.   Keywords: course management information system, user interface, Framework for the Application of Systems Thinking (FAST), system analysis

Abstract

The Segmentation of fingerprint image is an important step in the fingerprint identification. The objective of the fingerprint image segmentation is to separating the foreground regions from the background regions. Accurate segmentation of fingerprint images influences directly the performance of minutiae extraction like minutiae and singular points. In this paper, an algorithm for the segmentation of fingerprint image is presented. The method uses block-wise coherence. Fingerprint data has been taken from NIST databases 14. The segmentation algorithm has been trained on fingerprints of this database, but not on these particular fingerprints. Human inspection shows that the block-wise coherence algorithm provides satisfactory result. Keyword: fingerprint image segmentation, block-wise, coherence, minutiae, singular point.

Abstract

Banyaknya pabrikan motor besar seperti honda, yamaha dan suzuki yang mengeluarkan berbagai varian dikelas umum seperti matic, moped, dan sport membuat masyarakat awam yang  pengetahuannya masih kurang tentang mesin kendaraan bermotor kesulitan untuk menentukan pilihan pada saat membeli kendaraan bermotor baik serta ideal. Untuk itu perlu adanya sebuah sistem pengambilan keputusan yang dapat membantu dalam penentuan dan pemilihan kendaraan bermotor yang baik dan ideal. Dalam pengembangan  sistem pendukung keputusan terdapat beberapa metode, Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk Sistem Pendukung Keputusan adalah dengan menggunakan Fuzzy MADM (Multiple Attribute Decission Making). Pada penelitian ini akan diangkat suatu kasus yaitu mencari alternative terbaik bedasarkan kriteria-kriteria yang telah ditentukan dengan mengggunakan metode SAW (Simple Additive Weighting) untuk melakukan perhitungan metode FMADM pada kasus tersebut. Metode ini dipilih karena mampu menyeleksi alternatif terbaik dari sejumlah alternatif, dalam hal ini alternatif yang dimaksudkan yaitu layak untuk untuk dipilih berdasarkan kriteria-kriteria yang ditentukan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mencari nilai bobot untuk setiap atribut, kemudian dilakukan proses perankingan yang akan menentukan alternatif yang optimal, yaitu pemilihan motor terbaik.   Kata kunci : FMADM, SAW, Kriteria, Decision Support System
