Abstract

This research was conducted to improve students’ speaking skills in the third grade of  SDN 136 Pekanbaru. This research was conducted due to the low speaking skill of the students. The chain story technique was applied to improve the speaking skills of the third grade students of SDN 136 Pekanbaru. Chain story technique is one of the techniques for teaching speaking that tells a story to the first student then continue to the second student, and at last the story is being told  to the first student. This technique was expected to improve students' speaking skills with the correct pronunciation, loud voice, coherent sentences, and fluency. The type of the research was classroom action research with 27 students as the subjects, 17 females and 10 males. The study was conducted in October. The data were obtained through performance tests. After applying the chain story technique, teacher’s activity had increased in the first cycle from 60% to 65% and the second cycle was from 70% to 85%. Furthermore, the students’ activity had also increased in the first cycle from 60% to 70% and the second cycle from 75% to 85%. The improvement of students’ speaking skills in the third grade of SDN 136 Pekanbaru could be seen from the increasing of the average value of the first cycle (66.04) to the second cycle (77.46) with the percentage of the first cycle was 6.04% and increased to the second cycle with 20.97%. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the chain story technique can improve the students’ speaking skills of the third grade of SDN 136 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The problem in this research is the learning outcomes of several students in SDN 3 Adipuro that do not meet the completeness standard. The purpose of this study is to identify the correlation between learning time management and the students’ perception of teacher’s professional competence with high class learning outcomes at SDN 3 Adipuro. This type of research was ex post facto corelation. The population was 115 students which 56 students were chosen as the sample. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. Data collection instruments in the form of a questionnaire with a Likert scale has been claimed validity and reliability. Analysis of the data used was Poduct Moment Correlation and Multiple Correlation. The result showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between learning time management and the students’ perception of teacher’s professional competence with high class learning outcomes with a correlation coefficient of 0.534 according to the "strong enough" level.

Abstract

Local scripts are the priceless cultural heritage of the nation. The existence of local scripts today is increasingly eroded by the use of Latin writing. A few young people are able to write local scripts. One of the forgotten local scripts is the Sasambo script in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This study aims to describe the learning interest of PGSD students on local scripts. This research was designed in a quantitative descriptive form. The data was collected through surveys. The instrument used were a closed questionnaire and interview guidelines. Data analysis used descriptive statistics. The subject of research was PGSD students of University of Mataram. The results showed that PGSD students' interest in learning about local scripts was very low. The indicators showed that few students have ever learned local scripts, the number of students interested in learning local scripts was small, the number of students who were willing to read literature was small, the number of students who had interested on local scripts was small, the use of local scripts was also small and the assumption that local scripts were not important to learn. The reason for the lack of interest in learning about local scripts was because local scripts were difficult to learn and were not needed anymore in practical life. Based on the findings, it needs various efforts to increase student interest in learning local scripts Sasambo through learning innovation. By learning local scripts, it is expected that the preservation of local scripts will be maintained.

Abstract

The nature of Science is as products, processes, and attitudes. In the process of finding facts, concepts, principles, theories, and laws carried out through the science process skills, and in their application involves a scientific attitude. This study aims to analyze the science process skills of first semester students of primary teacher education study program through the Science practicum on the subject of Plant Growth and Development. This research was a descriptive research  with an ex post facto quantitative approach. This research was conducted on all of the first semester students in the primary teacher education study program at Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya in the academic year 2019-2020. The instruments used in this research were the science process skills observation sheet and the plant growth and development practicum worksheet based on the science process skills. The results showed that the most difficult aspect of basic science process skills were predicting skill, and the easiest was observating skill. The most difficult aspect for integrated  science process skills were defining variables operationally. The easiest was conducting investigations or experiment, and organizing data into tables and graphs.
