Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the social science problem-solving abilities of elementary school students. The research employed a Pre-Experimental Design using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. The findings show that the average post-test score was higher than the average pretest score, indicating an improvement in students’ problem-solving abilities after the implementation of the PBL model. The average pretest score was 58.10, while the average post-test score increased to 75.40. Hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05 yielded a significance value of 0.000. Since 0.000 < 0.05, H₀ was rejected. These results demonstrate that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model has a significant effect on improving elementary school students’ social science problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Word Square learning model on the social science learning outcomes of the fourth-grade students at SDN Gugus II Kecamatan Lingsar in the academic year 2020/2021. The type of this study was experimental research with a nonequivalent control group design, a type of quasi-experiment. The population in the study was students in grade IV SD Gugus II Kecamatan Lingsar, totaling 108 students, while the samples were grade IV students at SD Gugus II Kecamatan Lingsar, totaling 85 students. Data in this study were collected through documentation and questionnaires, while the instruments were social studies learning outcomes documents and Word Square model questionnaires. Then, the data were analyzed by the normality test, linearity test, and simple regression test to determine the effect of the Word Square model on learning outcomes. The results of the normality and linearity tests showed that the data were normally distributed and had a linear relationship. After going through the prerequisite test, a simple regression test was carried out, obtaining a sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05 or using a comparison of the value of tcount (3.974) > ttable (1.988). This means that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. Thus, the Word Square learning model significantly influenced the social science learning outcomes of the fourth-grade students of SDN Gugus II Kecamatan Lingsar in the academic year 2020/2021.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop Papan Roda Baca Pintar media, to reveal the feasibility of Papan Roda Baca Pintar media, and to determine students’ responses after using Papan Roda Baca Pintar media in early reading learning. The research method used was research and development by adapting and modifying the Borg and Gall research model, which consisted of 6 stages: problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation/expert testing, design revision, and product testing/limited trials. The product was tested on students door to door with the teacher’s permission. The product feasibility was based on assessment results from material experts, linguists, media experts, and students’ response questionnaires. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The results of research and development showed that after a series of trials, questionnaires, and expert validations, Papan Roda Baca Pintar media was very feasible. Based on the assessment from material experts, the percentage was 94% in the very feasible category, while the percentage from linguists’ assessment was 71% in the feasible category. After that, the result from media experts was 85% in the very feasible category, and lastly, the result from limited trials (response questionnaires) was 95%, which was also in the very good category on the Likert scale. This result was interpreted through the feasibility test and was categorized as very feasible.
