Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it requires that the learning process, including teaching English at the elementary school level, is carried out with an online learning system. Implementing an online learning system is closely related to the use of technology. Smartphones are one of the technological tools that are widely used in facilitating the online learning process. Hence, the study in this article aimed to examine the perception of an elementary school teacher in integrating smartphones during the English teaching process. Based on the research, the researchers used a case study as the research design, along with semi-structured interviews and online observations for data collection. The data were then analyzed using thematic analysis, which was further elaborated with the TPACK framework from Mishra and Koehler (2006). The study reveals two responses related to the teacher’s perception of using smartphones, namely negative and positive responses. The negative responses consist of three perceptions: (1) ineffective delivery of subject materials, (2) difficulties in managing students, and (3) internet access problems. Meanwhile, the positive responses include (1) smartphones as an adequate teaching medium, (2) an affordable platform for teaching, and (3) YouTube channels as an engaging learning resource for young learners. In conclusion, the use of smartphones in teaching English at the elementary school level raised both negative and positive reactions from the teacher during the teaching process. Therefore, teaching English to young learners requires the teacher to adequately integrate technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge.

The population in the study involved 113 public junior high school teachers in Bagan Sinembah by using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique used the proportional random sampling technique. The data collection technique used a questionnaire with a Likert scale, analyzed by using correlation and regression techniques through the Microsoft Excel software program. The results of the study showed that there was a significant influence between Teacher Work Motivation and Teacher Learning Management which is proven the correctness. And then, there was a significant influence between Principal Supervision and Teacher Learning Management, which is proven the correctness. In addition, there was a significant influence between Teacher Work Motivation and Principal Supervision on Management Teacher learning, which is proven the correctness. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Abstract

This article explains the influence of the Problem-based Learning (PBL) model on the scientific literacy of third-grade students in elementary school. The research method used was a quasiexperimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The respondents of the study involved one teacher and 18 students. Data on students' scientific literacy abilities were obtained from the pretest and posttest, then analyzed by using SPSS 26.0 for the Windows version. After utilizing normality and homogeneity tests, the control and experimental classes were determined to have a regular and homogenous distribution. The hypothesis was tested by using the Independent Sample t-test in the study. The findings indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which indicates that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It could be described that there was a statistically significant difference in values between the experimental class that utilized the PBL model and the control class that did not use the PBL model. According to the data analysis, the PBL model has an influence on third-grade elementary school students' scientific literacy in the domain of competence or scientific processes. Thus, the authors recommended that teachers may include the PBL model in their classroom instruction.

Abstract

This article discusses the leadership of principals on the job satisfaction of elementary school teachers in Gantiwarno Klaten. The type of study used was ex-post facto because the study only presented data on events that have already taken place and been had by the respondents without giving treatment or manipulation of the studied variables. The subject and population selected from the study involved 70 teachers of five elementary schools in Gantiwarno Klaten. Data were collected by using a questionnaire technique. The results indicated that the leadership of the principal together contributed 24.1% to the improvement of job satisfaction of elementary school teachers in Gantiwarno. The principal's leadership did not have a significant effect on the job satisfaction of elementary school teachers since (1) there was no interest or high encouragement of the principal’s leadership in trusting the respective duties of the teachers, staff, and students excitedly. In addition, (2) The principal did not provide guidance, or direction to the teachers, staff, and students, and give the encouragement, spur, and stand up as a leader and inspirator in order to acquire the school achievement.

Abstract

This article reviews the analysis of students’ interest improvement in learning by using the Game-based learning (GBL) model in fractional learning material of mathematics for class V students at SDN PW 01. The approach used in the study was a mixed-methods with a quasi-experimental with pre-experimental design. Quantitative data were analyzed by using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test test with SPSS 16.0 for Windows application. Since the data processed were ordinal-scaled data, data were analyzed by providing non-parametrical statistics and no need to test normality distribution. Whilst the qualitative data were analyzed using narrative analysis. The study was conducted by giving a pretest in the form of a questionnaire on students' interest in fractional learning material of mathematics before using the Game-Based Learning model. Hereafter, giving treatment in the form of fractional learning material of mathematics used the Game-Based Learning (GBL) model through the Quizizz learning application, Kahoot! and Wordwall. After that, a post-test was administered to the students in the form of a questionnaire on students' interest in fractional learning material of mathematics after using the Game-Based Learning model. Based on the results of hypothesis testing were obtained that the significance level of 0.000 meant Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. In addition, based on the results of interviews that there was an improvement of students' interest in fractional learning material of mathematics, which was carried out by using the Game-based learning (GBL) model. Abstract

This article is focused on the lack of students' mathematical communication in learning mathematics, especially in the length of the material unit. In addition, this article discusses a study about the feasibility of a learning media, namely "Macromedia flash MI", which is considered to provide convenience for students in understanding the material. The study is based on the feasibility of Macromedia Flash MI media in the length material unit for fourth-grade students in mathematics learning at SDN Danupayan. The study used research and development methods (Research and Development) and was conducted in the academic year of 2021/2022. The subject of the study was the fifth-grade students in one of the Elementary Schools in Bulu Temanggung. The media validation or the feasibility test of media showed a percentage of 97.2%, which could be concluded that the media validity showed the Very Valid (SV) category with an interval between the percentages of 81.25%–100%. The data was obtained from 3 validators, they were one lecturer at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang and two teachers at one of the Elementary Schools in Bulu Temanggung. Subsequently, the results of the research on student responses to the media showed a percentage of 82.16%, which could be concluded that the validity of the media showed the Very Valid (SV) category with an interval between the percentages of 81.25-100%.
