Abstract

LNG carrier is the most reliable primary means of transportation of LNG in the world. In operation, each LNG carrier would result in boil-off gas from the cargo hold due to the expansion. BOG The average amount that can be produced is 0.15% of the tank capacity and unloading space per day. For that, there is great opportunity in the use of BOG as fuel in LNG carrier resulting in fuel savings. One of the driving forces that can take advantage of BOG is a Combined Cycle Propulsion Plant (CCPP) of a gas turbine and a steam turbine, a gas turbine with HRSG and dual fuel technology for generating thermal energy from the exhaust gas of gas turbines. Improved efficiency and are able to use as fuel BOG will be able to lower the fuel oil consumption of the driving force. The study was conducted by comparing the fuel consumption of LNG carrier propulsion system with a conventional steam turbines, compared to the LNG carrier using the CCPP. CCPP eventually be an option with the highest fuel economy both in terms of BOG utilization, efficiency and fuel use. For the 138,000 m3 LNG carrier of the same, with the CCPP do MDO-fueled fuel savings of U.S. $ 46,117.80 per day and for using the CCPP BOG, fuel savings of U.S. $ 56,472.70 per day.

Abstract

Aceh province is geographically located between 20- 60 LU and 950- 980 BT is a tropical region that has a high enough intensity of the sun. Solar energy is a potential energy source, so it needs to consider aspects of the benefits brought about by the sun. This study aims to examine the variation of the solar collector tilt angle to get the collector with optimum results. The material used is wood frame with insulating material zinc in black paint. Temperature measurements carried out in an open space with solar energy as a source of energy for heating. Measurements were taken from 09.00 am - 17.00 pm with measurements every hour. Thermometer was used to measure the temperature, where the measurement is made by 4 (four) points in each space of collector. The results showed that the distribution of the average temperature for the collector tilt angle of 150 C with the air flow rate 0.028 kg/ s is 80 C, the average temperature difference for collector tilt angle of 300 C with the air flow rate 0.0237 kg / s is 170 C, while the average temperature for the collector tilt angle of 450 with the air flow rate 0.0175 kg/ s is 19.50 C.

Abstract

Blood is the fluid found in all living things serve to transmit substances and oxygen needed by body tissues, carrying chemical products of metabolism, as well as the body's defense against viruses or bacteria. If blood will be donated to another person, the blood will be stored in a blood bag and should be used immediately to the recipient blood. If it is not used directly as they are not needed or should be taken to another place, it must be kept comfortable. Because storage temperature greatly affects the quality of the blood and age of stored blood. Blood storage temperature range from 1 oC to 6 oC,  for this reason, it is necessary that both the thermal insulation material storage chamber walls of blood to maintain the desired temperature. Insulation materials used with the value of thermal conductivity (k) is low styrofoam. Abstract

Fruit Football is a type of plant that is widely available in Aceh and is not utilized by the community. This research will be studied in experiments of fruit fooball as biofuel in diesel engines. Diesel engines are used in this test is a single cylinder four stroke engine water-cooled Yanmar brand, type TS 50 with specs: Maximum Power 5 HP, maximum rotation 2400 rpm, maximum torque 2.29 kg.m at 1600 rpm and compression ratio 17.9: 1. Performance testing is done with a diesel engine intended to determine the amount of power generated, the level of fuel consumption, specific fuel consumption and thermal efficiency. Testing is done with two variations of biodiesel fuel that B-10 and B-20 as well as diesel fuel for comparison. The results obtained from this study is that the power generated from diesel fuel is greater than the other two fuels, while more efficient fuel consumption B-20 followed by B-10 and diesel fuel. Specific fuel consumption results are varied while the higher thermal efficiencies generated by the B-20 of the B-10 and diesel fuel at high speed.

Abstract

The use of flywheel as an energy storing device has been introduced in various mechanical systems. In this paper is discussed the use of it on a stationary bicycle. The flywheel technology is utilised on the bicycle to provide as well as distribute the load in cycling. The focus of the research is the affectivity of the flywheel usage considered from the vibration occurred. In this research, a new model of stationary bicycle is designed to have a reliable and comfortable stationary bicycle. Thus, the vibration caused by the flywheel is one of the concern that an experimental study has been conducted. Based on the experimental test it concluded that the vibration occurred is moderate that the design of the bicycle is acceptable for use.

Abstract

Particle board is a product of the utilization of waste wood processing that can be used in a variety of buildings and other constructions. Particle board products generally produce formaldehyde emissions that can harm human health. Reducing emissions of formaldehyde, environmentally friendly adhesive should be used, ie Damar (Shorea javanica). In this study, the adhesive resin used as an adhesive for wood particle boards Meranti. This study aims to develop a particle board from Meranti wood waste using adhesive resin, and then to determine the effect of the use of the adhesive resin particle board to physical strength and mechanical wood powder particle board. Making specimens following the ISO Standards No.. 03-2105 - 2006 through print method pressure of 1.33 MPa. Particle size of wood used (0.315 to 5 mm), mixed with a resin weight percentage of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Heating temperature is 150 ° C for 15 minutes. Obtained from testing the tensile strength of 0516 MPa highest density value 0.989 g/cm3. The results obtained from specimens that have adhesive resin composition of the Meranti wood particles with a ratio of 20:80 with a density value of 0.989 g / cm, while for the weight gain and the development of thick generate value by 42%, and 27% lower than at the other test specimens. While the value of the modulus of elasticity for the same composition was 1642 MPa. Based on the percentage, the higher the use of resin will be obtained, the value of tensile strength, modulus of elasticity and the higher density. While the value of water content and the development of diminishing thickness.

Abstract

The result of this analysist of energy conservation activity exposes the performance generated by PT. Arun NGL in the fields of energy conservation and decrease of greenhouse emissions. The implementtion analysist activities assosieted with international initiatives in addressing climate change, and global warming as well as support the implementation of goverment programs of energy conservation programs and the reduction of greenhouse gas emmisions in the industrial sector. All the data presented in this report have been checked carefully, and all sizes are displayed also was referring to an internationally recognized measurement technique in the industry. Thus, the accurancy of the data included in this report both with regards the level of error is small. In addition, all the data loaded can be trusted because it is supported by the documents that existand can be verified by the stakeholders who want to do this. Based on the result of the assessment, energy saving opportunities and reduction of exhaust gas emmisions are available by empowering, improvise and optimize prodution units. Implementation efforts on energy conservation and the utilization of  resources has been implementaed since 1997, which was market by the implementation of the project Marine Boil off Gas (MaBOG) take back the exhaust gas at the time of shipment of LNG (800-1,000 M3 LNG). Marine Boil off Gas has recover 1000 m3 of LNG per shipment in 2003, in installation of heat reovery unit 10 steam  generator, which utilizes the thermal energy of the stack gas turbines to generate steam, and turn off or not utilize all the conventional boilers.

Abstract

The sun transfers heat energy to the earth with radiation mode. To reach the air temperature with thermal comfort in the indoor air temperature then need to re-view using AC, but if the energy intensity of the sun's too much that goes into the conditioning room through a glass wall that will cause the AC is too big. This will lead to the use of electrical energy is too wasteful. To minimize the AC in the room caused by a number of incoming solar radiation intensity of heat is done by using a glass inhibitory properties of low light intensity. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the inhibitory effect of light intensity into the room by each type of glass. The research was done by varying the type of glass that will be mounted on the solar collector, rain glass, blue glass, black glass, One way glass, glass orange. Measurement of light intensity and temperature data were taken every 30 minutes within a period of 3 hours. Based on the results of the study five types of glass is the importance of the election of the best level of inhibition glass is types of glass One way because the light intensity 400 W/m2 - 500 W/m2, resulting in room temperature is 45 0C.

Abstract

Combustion of biomass produces thermal energy that can be utilized of other energy utilities by conversion through fluidized combustion systems. Fluidized reactor with a system (fluidized bed) is an option to the existing conversion thermal energy in biomass. Fuel feed system on combustion chamber (combustor) and fluidized combustion reaction chamber (burner) at fluidization reactor unit integrated with utility boilers producing steam into the reactor performance targets, this is achieved by the provision of fuel to the prescribed amount and timeliness of feeder working system for supplying fuel to the combustion chamber (combustor). Maximum combustion temperature results obtained in between 20 to 30 seconds burning time for 2 (two) kg biomass. Combustion temperature is strongly influenced by the characteristics of biomass. Solid biomass character (wood chips and branches of dry wood planers) has a higher burning temperature of biomass fibers character (areca nut husk). The increase in temperature results for biomass combustion filamentous more quickly reach peak combustion temperature, the comparison is time for biomass burning wood character requires 30 seconds burning time , while for areca nut husk biomass only takes 20 seconds burning time for 2 kg of biomass .

Abstract

This research designed and analyzed the use of current energy by employing the Darrieus turbine type H. This turbine was tested in an irrigation located in Bukit Meusara, Aceh Besar. It has a dimension of 0,3 m x 0,3 m with a blade shaped of NACA 0015 and tested on a variation of water speed flow of 1,43 m/s, 1,91 m/s and 2,16 m/s. An experiment on the influence of angle of attack was also done on -50, 00, 50 and 100. The results showed that the angle maximum turn was 90 rpm with the water speed flow of 2,16 m/s at angle of attack of 50. The maximum power produced by the turbine was as substantial as 26% of efficiency.
