Abstract

This paper deals with the body posture Classification from EMG signal analysis using artificial neural network (ANN). The various statistical features extracted from each EMG signal corresponding to different muscles associated with the different body postures are framed using LABVIEW software. Further-more, these features are taken as the input towards the ANN classifier and thus the corresponding output for the respective classifier predicts the postures like Bowing, Handshaking, and Hugging. The performance of the classifier is determined by the classification rate (CR). The outcome of result indicates that the CR of Multilayer Feed Forward Neural Network (MFNN) type of ANN is rounded up to a percentage of 71.02%.

Abstract

Choquet integral with respect to fuzzy measure is a generalization of weighted arithmetic mean aggregation operator. It allows taking into account the phenomenon of dependence between criteria. Due to this it is possible to reflect the expert knowledge more accurately without making the model simplification which is the assumption of independence of the aggregation criteria. The problems of Choquet fuzzy integral applications and possible ways of overcoming them are discussed. Practical applications for this relatively new apparatus are reviewed.

Abstract

The automatic identification system of Myanmar national registration card (NRC) holder is presented in this paper. The proposed system can be handled the identification by the extracted low quality face image and fingerprint image from Myanmar NRC. Both of the facial recognition and fingerprint recognition system are developed for Myanmar citizenship confirmation. Age invariant face recognition algorithm is performed based on combination of DiaPCA (Diagonal principal Component Analysis) and KNN (Kth nearest neighbor classifier) approaches. An algorithm of the fingerprint recognition is proposed for recognition of the poor quality fingerprint image with fabric background.  Several experiments have been done for confirming the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract

Third-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standardizes an Evolved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) as air interface in its release 8 LTE. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access(OFDMA) and Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access(SC-FDMA)are key technologies for the air interface of mobile broadband systems. It is evident that mobile broadband access technologies are reaching a commonality in the air interface and networking architecture; they are being converged to an IP-based network architecture with OFDMA based air interface technology. The air interface of E-UTRAN is based on OFDMA in downlink and SC-FDMA in the uplink, making it possible to efficiently utilize bandwidth due to the orthogonally between sub-carriers and by assigning subsets of sub-carriers to individual users which allows for simultaneous data rate transmission from several users and differentiated quality of service for each user. In this paper, wehighlight the technologies behindOFDMA and SC-FDMA and also carry out performance comparison of the two air interface technologies. We brieflydescribe the 3GPP LTE standard, and its implementation using OFDMA and SC-FDMA technology.

Abstract

The increased safety (Ex e) high tension (HT) motors are widely used in the petroleum industries and area where explosive atmosphere is present. The time tE and IA/IN ratio value is very important for Ex e motor. The time tE of rotor and or stator winding, IA/IN ratio and temperature rise can be affected by increasing the stator coil pitch. The coil pitch of stator were increased for three different ratings of three phase HT Ex e induction motors and redesigned for analyzing the temperature rise, tE and performance. The relevant tests were performed and performance characteristic of motor was compared with normal design motor. The Ex e motors mentioned in this paper had been manufactured by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), Bhopal, India during the project as per the design and guidance of main author as project leader. It is anticipated that the research work presented in this paper will be of immense benefit to Ex e HT motor designers.

Abstract

As usage of network goes increasing day by day, managing network traffic becomes a very difficult task. It is important to avoid high packet loss rates in the Internet. Congestion is the one of the major issue in the present networks. Congestion Control is one of the solutions adopted to solve the congestion issue and to control it. Numbers of queue management algorithms are proposed for congestion control and to reduce high packet loss rates. Active Queue Management (AQM) is one such mechanism which provides better control over congestion. In this paper a study is made on recent load based AQM techniques that are proposed and its merits and shortfall is presented.

Abstract

In this paper, we compare the latency of serially concatenated convolutional codes. In particular, we compare RSC-RSC   concatenated codes using non-iterative concatenated Viterbi decoding to RS-RSC concatenated codes using concatenation of Viterbi & Berklelamp-Massey decoding. We have also used puncturing to obtain different code rates & analyzed the effect of code rate on latency. On the basis of simulations, it is shown that RSC-RSC code is better than RS-RSC codes for low latency applications. It is also shown that a trade-off is needed between BER & latency for concatenated codes.

Abstract

Wireless is an old technology; however with the advancement of science and technology it has enabled us to send signals to one or more devices without tangible wire connections and reduced complexity. The increasing human needs have lead to the integration of different technologies into a single unit and Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is one such integration where sensors are integrated with wireless system to form a network. This network is used for a plethora of applications in sectors like defence, agriculture, medical, environment and industry.

Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have gained importance in recent years as this support a large spectrum of applications such as automotive, health, military, environmental, home and office. Various algorithms have been proposed for making this technology more adaptive the existing algorithms address issues such as safety, security, power consumption, lifetime and localization. This paper presents an extension to HiRLoc algorithm and highlights its benefits. Extended HiRLoc significantly reduce the average localization error by suggesting a new method directional antenna based scheme.

Abstract

In this paper, the modeling, simulation and control of 3 degree of freedom articulated robotic manipulator have been studied. First, we extracted kinematics and dynamics equations of the mentioned manipulator by using the Lagrange method. In order to validate the analytical model of the manipulator we compared the model simulated in the simulation environment of Matlab with the model was simulated with the SimMechanics toolbox. A sample path has been designed for analyzing the tracking subject. The system has been linearized with feedback linearization and then a PID controller was applied to track a reference trajectory. Finally, the control results have been compared with a nonlinear PID controller.
