Abstract

Observation on transient behavior is crucial because from this stuty we are able tocomprehend major parameters possessed by various electrical and electronic appliances.For this purpose of observation, appropriate measuring instruments/ equipments arenecessary. Sometimes it is difficult in realizing the expected observation. In many cases,transient behavior can improve the performance and efficiency of electrical devices; while insome other cases it may result in instability, or even failure in the system. By studying theresponses of RLC circuit, at least we can have some interpretation and explanation about thefundamental of transient bahavior in numerous electrical and electronic equipments. Thereare several parameters, which can be analyzed such as maximum voltage and time (peaktime tm and settling time ts), from the RLC circuits discussed in the next topic.Keywords: Transient, RLC circuits, peak time, settling time.

Abstract

This study is aimed to save electrical energy in buildings by making use ofthe sun light which passes through the windows. Abstract

Fiber optic refractive index profile can be reconstructed from its mode field distribution. Toanalyzed this mode field image (digital image form), one formula, which derived from scalarwave equation, is needed to describe a relationship between the intensity and refractiveindex value as a radial function. This paper included numerical analysis to solve the secondorder differentiation and made the formula more suitable for computer process.Keywords: mode field distribution, scalar wave equation, refractive index, numericalanalysis

Abstract

Power systems are often subjected to overvoltages that have their origin in atmosphericdischarges in which case they are called external or lightning overvoltages. Ligthningovervoltages remain essentially independent of the system’s design such as transmissionstower. Owing to the complexity of a the lightning phenomenon, simulation experiment hasbeen an important method to resolve such phenomenon. However, it is difficult to simulatethe distribution of lightning striking points. Previous lightning simulation expriment can’twell reflect the influence of lighning strength and direction on striking. The paper presentsthe Lattice Method to analyze lightning phenomenon strength especially for the transmissiontowerKeyword: lightning phenomenon, lattice method, transmission tower.

Abstract

MPEG-1 is one of the standards to encode the information in digital signal. This standard iswidely used in many application such audio, video and teleconferencing. The concept of theMPEG-1 video encoding is discussed in this paper to give better understanding to the readerof what MPEG-1 Video, and how it can be more applicable. The benefits of MPEG-1 videoencoding are the file size produced is smaller than the source, the standard has been used inmany applications, and also the encoding and decoding process are easy to do back andforth.Keywords: MPEG-1, audio/video, teleconferencing, encoding, decoding

Abstract

This paper presents a study of the effect of different starting edges position in the base ofSi/SiGe/Si HBTs. The germanium profile in the base under study is rectangular. In thesimulations, the effect of band gap narrowing due to heavy doping and band gap narrowingdue to the addition of germanium in the base of the HBT are included. The simulations aredone with BIPOLE3. The results show that the starting edge positions have strong influence inthe current gain and maximum transit frequency of the HBTsKeywords: SiGe, HBT, band gap narrowing, Bipole 3.
