Abstract

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a genetic substance that brings heredity factor. DNA consistof four bases, which are adenine, timine, guanine, and citosine. Each base is symbolized byA, T, G, and C. There are coding and noncoding regions in DNA data. Coding region (calledexon) is a DNA region that’s useful to describe heredity factor. Many methods can be used todetermine coding region in DNA data, one of them is by using Discrete Fourier Transform(DFT). Simulation using DFT is performed by entering the algoritm similarities into Matlablanguage program. The purpose of simulation are to predict exon length, to get the value ofoptimized spectral and to get the value of exon total power spectral. Optimized spectral isuseful to identify exon position in DNA data. The results of simulation reveal that the totalpower spectral value of exon is proportional to N-point DFT value for each DNA sequenceand the optimized spectral value of DNA is also proportional to quantity of exon bases andexon length. Optimized spectral value reaches maximum for more quantity of exon bases andmore length of exon than when optimized spectral value reaches minimum. Keywords: deoxyribonucleic acid, exon, optimized spectral, total power spectral.

Abstract

In ice block industry, usage of electrical power for induction motor as prime mover ofcompressor is very high. Level of usage of electricity at ice block industry base on change ofrefrigeration media temperature. Referring to the mentioned, hence mass flow rate ofrefrigerant circulating in system, refrigeration effect per kilogram, comparison ofcompression of compressor, refrigeration capacities and mechanic energy which must beyielded by the compressor to circulate the refrigerant determining transfer of heat systemperformance as work principle of cooler machine can be determined. This Final Assignmentpresent an economical technique of usage of electrical power of induction motor that is byproduct the ice block when of media refrigeration temperature reach the lowest level that isnight time with method comparison of usage of electrical power of induction motor as primemover of compressor at ice block industry which giving result the lowest usage of electricalpower. Case study done at ice block factory that is PT. KARAHARJA TIRTATAMA.Key words: Induction Motor, Refrigeneration Temperature, Electrical Power

Abstract

Attenuation in an Optical Communication Link always causes the transmitted signal powerbecome as lower as the length of the fiber become longer. For a long distancecommunication link like submarine cable needs a repeater to amplify the optical signalpower that transmitted in the fiber. The most popular repeater in long distancecommunication link is Optical Repeater with its Optical Amplifier. This paper is anintroduction of an Optical Amplifier. The most important part of an optical amplifier is theActive Medium. The active medium of an amplifier normally consist of 10 to 30 m length ofoptical fiber that has been slightly doped (e.g., 1000 ppm weight) with a rare earth elementsuch as erbium (Er) for 1550 nm wavelength and Praseodymium (Pd) for 1300 nmwavelength, and the host fiber material can be either standard silica, fluorite-based glass ormulti-component glass. The optical amplifier that consists of fiber doped with Erbium iscalled EDFA (ERBIUM DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIER). The simplified energy levelconcept of an EDFA and its basic operation how the photon signal could be amplified whencome through the active medium is simply introduced. Besides, the basic architecture of anEDFA, three configurations of the pumping direction of pump laser into the active mediumand the amplifier gain of an ADFA are also described. Keywords: Optical repeater, active medium, EDFA (erbium doped fiber amplifier)1. Abstract

Parallel processing systems that support the shared memory abstraction are becomingwidely accepted in many areas of computing. The shared memory or single system image ofaddress space abstraction provides several advantages over the message passingabstraction. Distributed shared memory or DSM is a memory configuration system that canbe used to provide a coherent shared address space for a workstation clusters or looselycoupled systems which have no support for shared memory in hardware. The purpose of thispaper is to describe issues related to the implementation of DSM in Personal ComputerCluster system. The system is developed under Linux operating system and clustermiddleware Parallel Virtual Machine [PVM]. In this research, an object-based DistributedShared Memory (DSM) system called Adsmith is used on the top of PVM. An applicationprogram for A Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is tested using different scenarios to getaverage execution time and speedup of the computation. Each scenario represents a differentnumber of node cluster involved for computation. The results show that programs developedwith Adsmith can achieve better performance comparable to that developed with PVM inhigh computation environment. Keywords: Distributed Shared Memory, komputer cluster, Parallel Virtual Machine,Adsmith.
