Abstract

A telecommunication cabinet usually uses a Direct Current fan with a Direct Current motor (DC motor) to make the cabinet temperature does not exceed the temperature that is allowed. Using a DC motor has weaknesses because it always rotates in full speed although the temperature in the cabinet gets down already. It causes inefficiency of the power consumption and the DC motor’s lifetime is not long enough.The prototype of DC motor speed controller controls the speed of a DC motor with the temperature environment as its reference. This circuit is built by a temperature sensor LM35, a microcontroller ATmega16 as the processor that analizes the input from the temperature sensor and relays. This prototype is equipped with a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to display the temperature of the cabinet and the DC motor speed. After the prototype is assembled and tested, it is known that the circuit controls a DC motor speed according to the changes of the temperature that has been determined by the software program. The DC motor stops rotating if the temperature sensor senses the temperature below the minimum temperature level.Keywords: DC motor, temperature sensor, LCD, microcontroller

Abstract

Generally, an image consists of huge data which requires large capacity media storage. Then, if the image is going to be transmitted through telecommunication media, the transmission channel to be used must have large bandwidth. The increasing capacity and bandwidth of transmission channel cause data sending such as image with large data becomes inefficient. Compression process can be conducted to improve the efficiency in image sending process. Image compression is a process to reduce the bit used in representing an image. The purpose of compression process is to obtain image from reconstruction with smaller bit without reducing the quality of the original image. To handle it, an implementation of suitable image compression is needed and one of them is by using wavelet transformation. Simulation result shows that grey image reconstruction ”lena” is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 38.6156, ”peppers” image is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 41.8141 and ”coins” image is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 40.6666. While the reconstruction image with ”wbarb” color is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 37.2284, ”earth” image is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 37.3550 and ”clown” image is best for coif2 filter with one level decomposition with PSNR score 37.5432.Keywords: Image, Wavelet, Compression, PSNR, Perf0

Abstract

Simple dipole antenna is an antenna which made from copper and precision size to be resonated in adjustable frequency. While gamma match dipole antenna is an antenna made with gamma match system which with adding capacitor in feed point .The design and realization of the two antennas above are compared to analyze the characteristics of both antennas to find out which has better radiation pattern, free space loss and gain antenna so it could be determined which antenna is suitable to use. The results show that both antennas have omnidirectional radiation pattern. The value of free space loss simple dipole antenna and gamma match dipole antenna is the same about 14.86 dB. The gain of simple dipole antenna is about 39.95 dB and the gain of gamma match antenna is 42.9 dB. Keywords: Antenna, Dipole, Matching Impedance, Gamma Match

Abstract

This paper describes the prototype design of traffic lights controller for several intersection model which in this paper is implemented for a 4 intersections model. This prototype is using MCS51 Microcontroller Family to control the 4 intersection traffic lights lighting sequence. In this prototype the duration of the lighting sequence are adjustable to cater for different timing need of an intersection. To be able to cater for different intersections there are supporting component needed such as Keypad and LCD for for setting up timing sequence; SEEPROM for storing in setting data and duration for each timer; Decoder as an expander output port for lighting up the traffic lights and 7-segment as the indicator of remainder of duration of time in one direction before change of light. All process is supported by software implemented in Assembly Language.Keywords: microcontroller, timer, traffic lights
