Abstract

In the design of electric vehicles prototype, there are many things that must be taken into account and considered to be used completely without danger and failure in materials. In general, they are the design of body, chassis or frame design, the design of the transmission system, the design of the engine (motor), and the design of electrical installations. Vehicle chassis monocoque has a lighter weight compared to the vehicle chassis with a ladder. The weight of the vehicle has a considerable effect on the efficiency of the motor in which the motor work harder. Body vehicle glass fiber and carbon fiber also has a weight that is much different. With the same frame, the vehicle weight is obtained with a machine that utilizes carbon fiber body and fiber glass 43 kgf and 54 kgf. Excess carbon fiber monocoque chassis can be combined to produce the weight of the vehicle 36 kgf.

Abstract

Composite material could be developed into new material that would be useful for many interests. Fiber as composite raw material must be given pretreatment to improve the quality of composite. In this research, raw material for the composite was umbrella grass (Cyperus Alternifolius). A tool was designed to facilitate the processes of rolling or pressing, or abbreviated as roll press. Indeed, the design of roll press was preceded by designing the construction section that involved shaft, transmission system, bearing, pulley belt, and driver motor to move the roll. Result of rolling must be suitable for processing umbrella grass into the fiber of composite raw material. Testing was conduced to examine the work of the tool against the stalk of umbrella grass. Two testing was considered. First was testing against the variation of loads, which involved 10kg, 12kg and 14kg. Second test was against the variation of roll rotation at 160rpm, 197rpm and 280 rpm. Result of both tests provided specific fiber derived from umbrella grass that would be compatible to be composite material. Some results of research were indicated. Main drive motor was ½ PK with rotation (n1) = 1430rpm. Pulley diameter (d1) was 75mm. Reducer system was signified by n2 = 831rpm and d2 = 129mm, and if d3 = 59mm was used, the outcome was n4 = 160rpm with d4 = 307mm. In case of bearing, its sliding moment was 0.309N.mm and tangent force was 2.06N. The frame of roll press tool was designed at the dimension of length x wide x height = 600mm x 320mm x 1200mm. The best parameter was 160rpm with load force of 10kg. By taking account all these results, it could be said that the result of roll press processing had successfully produced the fiber from umbrella grass into the suitable raw material for the composite.

Abstract

There are many tribometers especially friction test to make a research and to develop many kind of materials. Three types of tribometer that common to use for friction test are thrustwasher, block on ring, and pin on disk. In this study, Alumunium and Steel ST 40 was used to investigate the wearness value. The load used in the pin is 24,81 kg/mm². The result showed that Aluminium have higher wearness value than Steel ST 40.

Abstract

Lubricants have a very wide application in all aspects of life, including industry and automotive sectors. The main purpose of a lubricant is to keep the moving/sliding surfaces apart, so that friction and consequent destruction of material is minimized. Lubricants can be solid, semi-solid, liquid, or gas. The research method in this study composed of data collecting through library method, the theory structures consist of explanation of the advantages and disadvantages of each type of lubricant as well as the working conditions on the given case study. The working conditions of the case study are used as the parameters to the feasibility of lubricants on case study, the parameters are the ability to receive the load, the ability to survive at a speed of 700-3000 rpm, the ability to be circulated, the ability to do the filtering, and the ability to do the cooling. Based on the results obtained from literature study, found that the good ability to receive a load owned by lubricants semi-solid and liquid, the ability to survive at a speed of 700-3000 rpm only owned by liquid lubricant, the ability to be circulated owned by liquid lubricants and gas, the ability to do filtering owned liquid lubricant and gas, and the ability to perform cooling owned by liquid lubricant and gas. Based on the results of the final analysis, the best lubricant that suitable for the case study is liquid lubricant.

Abstract

One of commodity in Bondowoso district is a coffee. There are two coffee flavor i.e. arabica and robusta. The quality of coffee is depending on the roasting temperature of coffee. At constant temperature, it require long roasting time around 1,5 to 2 hours. Because of that, automatically temperature control system was needed to control the roasting temperature to make the roasting time faster and more efficient by using fuzzy logic method. Sugeno method was used in this study by inputing error temperature and ∆ error temperature. The results show that temperature censor has 1.95% error against actual temperature of termometer. The fuzzy logic controls the actuator movement to regulate the valve of LPG that is fuel of furnace roaster. By using fuzzy logic, roasting time of arabica coffee and robusta coffee are 36,9 minutes and 30,216 minutes, respectively.

Abstract

A battery is an important part of electric vehicle which is converting the chemical energy into electrical energy. There are two types of battery based on the occurrence i.e. primary and secondary batteries. In the market there are a lot of secondary battery types for electric vehicle i.e. Lithium-ion, Lithium Polymer, Lead acid, and Nickel Metalh Hydrarde batteries. Because of that, a study comparation of secondary battery types was needed. Meta-analysis method was used to analyze the comparison between secondary battery types. The results showed that each battery have different spesifications, advantages, and disadvantages. There are a lot of consideration to choose battery for electric vehicle including initial cost, life time, mass, volume, temperature sensitivity, acces to care and acces to product.

Abstract

Bubble plume is the effective way to generate bubbles by air injection from the bottom of bath. Bubble plumes is important for gas transfer process, turbulence generation, collecting the surface-floating substance, and also important to mixing effect in chemical process. This research aims to analyse effect of gas flowrate on bubble dispersion pattern in bubble plume. An experimental apparatus to investigating bubble dispersion consists of a transparent vertical bath is 500 mm length, 24 mm wide and 750 mm height. The bubble generator consists of 110 needles, each needle is 0.25 mm in diameter, installed at the bottom of bath. The experimental method was used in this research. Data were taken by high resolution digital camera. Bubble dispersion pattern was generated by air injection from the bottom of bath. The experiments was done at various gas flowrate that is 4.16 x 10-6m3/s, 6.67 x 10-6m3/s,  10.4 x 10-6m3/s, 18.83 x 10-6m3/s dan 31.6 x 10-6m3/det. Data analyse using ImageJ software to get number, dimension and position of bubble. The experimental results show that increase of gas flowrate causes the number and the diameter of bubble increase and also to widen of diameter interval and bubble dispersion. In each of gas flowrate the bubble trend coalescence intermittently. The intermittent coalescence decrease with the increase of gas flowrate.
