Abstract

The aim of the paper is to reduce wastes in manufacturing process by integrating QFD and lean concepts manufacturing. Optimize the amount of waste can be considered as the voice of consumers e.g. how the management manufacturing eliminated the defect of the product. Some companies have implemented both the integration but not fully eliminate waste entirely. Hence, the modification of QFD & lean concept integration is still open chance to get better in waste (defect) elimination. The study is started with a preliminary survey and assesses the theory to define both methods. Pareto diagram is employed to determine the level of interest which has priority waste and further analyzed with QFD achieved. The result shows that a unique standard operating procedure (SOP) is very important for every department.

Abstract

Weapons Industy has the greatest asset in the production of klongsong with various varians meet the basic needs of military and public supplies, klongsong types 6 mm. Improving in quality does is not mean to increase the amount of labor or replace the old machine with a new one but rather to maximize the performance of the production system elements. This research is proposed to reduce the reject rate klongsong 6 mm process and to to determine the factors that influence the defective product. Six Sigma concept is used to discover and to reduce the factors that cause disability and error so as to improve the quality to wards zero failure rate. Six Sigma framework is known as Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, and Control (DMAIC). In Define phase of DMAIC is to define CTQ (Critical-To-Quality) through interviews with company management. In the Measure phase of DMAIC level of product quality (products klongsong 6 mm casing) is measured. In Analysis phase of DMAIC the causes of defects is analyzed through Ishikawa diagram. In Improve phase of DMAIC the preparation of the proposed improvements is based on is based on prioritization using FMEA. The results of the analysis of the application of Six Sigma in production klongsong in average was 4.69 with DPMO 695.429.

Abstract

Military weapons industries supporting industries most likely to be developed into a leading center of technology in accordance with the type of industry. With that goal achieved through Total Quality Management is an approach oriented to continuous quality improvement. Based on this analysis needs to be done related to the components of total quality management what are the qualities that support the quality of production and how its application in the arms industry and how to identify one component of total quality management that affect the quality improvement of quality related to changes in the occurrence of downtime in production with the method klongsong MVSM. On the basis of the proposed theoretical model, the analysis of corporate performance, descriptive analysis and analysis of TQM. TQM implementation is based on customer focus, obsession with quality, scientific approach, long-term commitment, teamwork, continuous improvement systems, education and training, unity of purpose, as well as the involvement and empowerment of employees

Abstract

School bench is one of the facilities that identified could cause musculoskeletal pain in school-age children. During class, students often sit with poor posture, back and neck bent in a long time so that musculoskeletal pain often occur in a classroom. Based on research conducted by Ira Idawati, school bench design needs to be different for each level of class because children have different anthropometric at each grade level elementary school-age. This can be done by designing school bench with fixed or adjustable size. If school decides to use fixed size bench, it is recommended to use several size of bench based on the level of the class. But if school used with adjustable size, the school could only buy one type and size of bench with a certain level of ergonomics. This study analyzed the used of the fixed and adjustable school bench design in elementary school based on economically and ergonomics. The result from this study shown that elementary student who sit on fixed size bench had a larger risk to the body than adjustable bench size from REBA and RULA scores. This suggests that adjustable bench was recommended for teaching and learning process facilities for health and to prevent injury on child. From economic terms, the value of the Net Present Value for fixed size bench is more economical than the adjustable one. From this two aspect, the elementary school had references to make school bench type decision.

Abstract

Continous improvements to increase productivity is compulsory for small medium enterprise. The average value of productivity observed with Objective Matrix, in January-September 2014, is 261 . The main factorwhich affect the value of productivity is the number of defective products produced by Automatic Feeding and Sealing Machine.Approximately, 73.7% of total defective products is leak product. Thus, the main effortto increase value of  productivity is reduce the amount of leak products produced by those macine. After calculating the average value of productivity, design of experiment were performed using central composite design approach. Then measure optimum value for each independent variables using Response Surface Methodology. The optimal values are : Cup Type A ( supplied by PT.Indopack ) , the heater I’s temperature is 256.9 °C and the heater II’s temperature is 258.48 oC . with predicted number of leaked product is 0.86 . By using this setting , the value of productivity turned to 855, far above the average of the previous months.

Abstract

Marine port as one important aspect of transportation network set particularly in marine field, should be able to support  transportation  activities or human and good transport from a place (hinterland) to another (foreland). Selection of port that could give best service would be one of important decision issues which would be giving positive impact toward regional economy surrounding the port in particular, and the nation in general. This study has taken object of Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya, particularly in container terminal. Policy development for regional economic growth in surrounding areas of the port was modeled  by using dynamic system approach. Dynamic system approach could solve  complex problems which cannot be solve by mathematical approach. Based on causal loop diagram, it is draw a dynamic system model such as stock and flow diagram to found out impact of changes in each variables affecting the system. Analysis result showed  that economic growth rate in port was affected by several variables, in which port management has the authority to decide policies relevant with those variables. Thus, to increase regional economic growth in port surroundings, appropriate policy scenario to be initiated was to increase pier capacity and by adjusting tariff or retribution.

Abstract

 In the flow shop scheduling each job will go through every machine in the same order. The goal of this research is to complete a series of jobs in order to obtain the optimal makespan  for stick skewers rounding machine. It is become necessities because the company has no planning and scheduling, while the demand exceeds the capacity Thus, optimize the scheduling is needed to be done. One way to optimize the scheduling is to minimize makespan. Based on the results of the research Cross Entropy Algorithm-Genetic Algorithm (CEGA) can provide the optimal solution. This is evident by a comparison technique that enumeration techniques obtained similar results with makespan 1982 seconds, but when compared to the company, CEGA method is better with makespan efficiency of 12.18%. The use of CEGA with the MATLAB has more advantages that simplify and speed in performing the calculations to can optimal solution.
