The index employs indicators from 2018 at the regency level using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to aggregate the index for each infrastructure component. The result shows that the use of PCA to reduce the data dimensions is quite effective in producing indices because the principal components are very representative of the data set as a whole.

Abstract

The total number of Regional Trade Agreement (RTA) has increased rapidly over the past 30 years, from 22 in 1990 to 308 in 2020. The association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) aimed to increase regional integration among members through ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) that came into force in 1993 and broadened its regional integration started in 2005 through trade agreements with China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and India. This paper study the impact of 5 ASEAN RTAs simultaneously to get comprehensive results. The Hausman-Taylor estimator was used to overcome endogeneity problems in the gravity equation without dropping the time-invariant variables which become the advantage of this method. The results show that AFTA increases trade flows between members and promotes imports and exports to the rest of the world. ASEAN regional integration outside the region with six trade partners show positive effect to members and has a minimal negative effect to non-members globally.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between adopting electronic tax invoice (ETI) and public companies' transparency. The analysis was conducted using binary panel data with a random-effects model, with data observations of companies listed on the Main Board of the Indonesia Stock Exchange except for the financial and technology sectors in the 2012-2019 period. The analysis results show that ETI affects the transparency of all three types of profits for a subsample of companies with enormous assets on the Main Board. Analysis of the industrial sector shows the industrial sectors of raw goods and secondary consumer goods have a significant influence. Furthermore, the findings of industrial sectors and certain types of profits where ETI has no considerable effect on transparency suggest the ETI application should improve its features. It will prevent transaction manipulation and company's behavior for making income smoothing. On the other hand, it is necessary to carry out a strategy of extracting tax potential for a particular sector related to fictitious invoice cases and frequent affiliate transactions.
