Jurnal ini sudah terbit sejak tahun 2002 dengan frekuensi dua kali dalam setahun, yaitu bulan Juni dan Desember. Marwah merupakan media komunikasi ilmiah antar peminat dan pemerhati kajian gender, perempuan dan Islam. Dengan tujuan mengangkat harkat dan martabat perempuan dan terpublikasinya bahan bacaan/rujukan tentang kajian-kajian perempuan.

Abstract

Advertisement is an easy media to persuades the society, but sometime advertisement inculcate ideology which is contrast with social reality, so that peep out sham reality. Producer, copywriter and visualizer, of media have to think the good side and impact to emerge from the advertisement for the shake of future nation. Mother has to have filter in pulling back the displaying of advertisement which appeal and mislead, with selective assessing, choosing, then decide product to be used for her household. This will not realize without support the knowledge of family ( in this case, father as the head of household ). It is not easy to fight against the persuation of television advertisement because there is a desire to buy although the products which will bought not yet become a need.

Abstract

Undeniable, that the amount of women journalist in printed media or electronic media is very limited in comparison with men journalist. As a result, more women only become news sources to a media. This article discuss why does the amount of women journalist is very limited and what the alternative that can be done to push women more active as journalist. From the analysis that have been done, it founf that the cause of the limited amount of women journalist is more women do not understand the benefit of writing to her self and women have limited time to pour her mind in writing, although she is anxious to write. The limitation of women journalist can be overcome throuh te citizen of journalism.

Abstract

This article studies how woman presented to society on television. In relation to masculine and feminine, television always descripts woman as a domestic person which depend on the power of men. Vice versa, a man is a public person who does not depent on the power of woman. Also the senetron theme presents the relation of masculine and feminine where man always comes up as a person who has capability to protects the woman which considered as the person who does not has capability. Therefore, the changes to the various televison programms has to be done absolutely by various side which bother about the existence of gender justice in the public area.

Abstract

This article discusses how is the woman image in mass media and what alternative can be done to make the woman image becomes good.Of analysis can be concluded that the mass media develops the image of woman through the streotype of woman. As a result, woman always becomes the source of media commercialisation and the news concerning woman tends to be discriminative. At the online media, woman is the active consumer in comparison with man so that woman can exposed her social activity. The gender mainstreaming and woman national commission’s program represents strategic resolving alternative to less the discrimination to woman in mass media. So that, to be its execution can be measured and succeed to reach the target, the activity shall be controlled by the independent institution and the government.

Abstract

The beauty contest is a contest which covered and broadcasted by many of electronic and printed media, This social fenomena arises the questions, what is the goal of this contest ?, what are the requirements which must be fulfilled by the participant, what are the creteria of assesments, face beauty, ideal body size, or clothes weared by the participant ?. Is the intellectual factor including into assessment of creteria ? or are there any other requirements must be fulfilled by the participant?, why does media seems more enthusiastic to published and broadcasts this activity?. From all the questions, the writer wishes to analyse, is the taking part of women in this contest and the enthusiastic of media to published and broadcasts this activity is an exploitation of media toward woman? The analaysis showed that the international, national and local beauty contests is an exploitation of media toward woman.

Abstract

There are three reasons why woman represents the interesting market target. First, woman is a directly consumer, second, woman represents a super persuader in her family, third, woman is the future consumer (a potential consumer candidate). Expense by exploiting the free time and conservancy of body (always remain to be beautiful) representing the cultural characteristic of consumer always will be there and pumped by mass media to audience continuously. In this case, television has constructed a life style which finally influence woman. The effect of the life style which created by television to the woman is the woman behavior tends oward the consumptive life style and assumes that the appearance is its without thinking of the real situation. This article discusses how does the mass media construct the social reality of human being especially woman.

Abstract

Reality show, Take Me Out Indonesia is a TV program in Indonesia that gives a new nuance to women so as not to depend on parents or others in determining a soulmate. The phenomenon of mate searching through the media illustrates that if women are just waiting for a soul mate to come is no longer fit with the times. Women have the right to itself to find, select, and apecify partner. Thus, there has been a shift in the understanding and attitudes about the meaning of partner search. Women are no longer ashamed to declare the man who wants to become a couple. He has had an open attitude, thingking and choices about men, dating and marriage she wants. Indeed, in the community there is controversy about the show mate search, as mentioned, because some people consider it incompatible with the norms and ethics policies, especially the norms of religion (Islam) that is still strongly held by most of the people of Indonesia. Islam indeed recognizes individual rights of women to find his life partner, butthere are certain ethics that must be considere.
