Abstract

This research studies the philosophical message and values in the dance “KlanaRaja” of Yogyakarta style. The philosophical message here is the one in Mataram dancephilosophy as well as the depth of philosophy in every movement style and its educationalvalues.Classical dance which is full of values has not been known by society. This dancehas rigid rules. In its realization, classical dance conveys philosophical values with thedeep philosophical background . There are two important things which need to beunderstood in order to be able to do classical dance perfectly, involving understandingphilosophical base and its character and then perfect its skill of dance techniques.Yogyakarta classical dances are familiar with basic norms or rules in performingdance or character. The basic norms are pasemon (face expression) and pandengan(eye gaze), pacak gulu (neck movement), deg (body movement), cethik (thigh), mlumahingpupu (breaking of thigh position), nyelekenthing (toe upright) and mendak.. Yogyakartaclassical dances are also known for their rhythm sensitivity such as gendhing (javanesemusical instruments) rhythm sensitivity, movement rhythm sensitivity, and spacerhythm sensitivity. The dance ‘Klana Raja’ tells about the king who wanders to reachhis desire. The dance created by KRT. Condroradono in 1962 is a learning material ofdance department students, of KONRI (Indonesian dance conservatory) which is nowknown as SMK N I Kasihan, Bantul, DIY.Key words: classical dance, Klana Raja, philosopical message

Abstract

This research aims to know the effectiveness of word card in teaching writing ofGerman language through poetry as the teaching material in class XI SMAN 2Purworejo.This is a quasi-experiment research using group control design, pre-test and posttestdesign. The sample of this research was taken from Class XI IPA 1 as an experimentclass and Class XI IPS 3 as a control class. This research employed random-samplingtechnique. The data collection was taken based on the result of pre-test and post-test.The technique of data analysis used t-test toward the final-test score between theexperiment and control class.The result reveals that t = 2,037 with sig = 0,045 á = 0,05, thus it can beconcluded that (1) there is an ability difference of the students class XI SMA N 2Purworejo, between the class taught using word card and the class taught not usingword card, 2) the writing ability of the students taught using word card is better thanthose who are not.. The more vocabulary the students master the better their writingability is. This method is a teaching way and an effective introduction toward GermanLiterature in senior high school.Key words: word card, teaching writing, German poetry

Abstract

This research is intended to describe the form, meaning, and the background ofthe use of language in the Larung Ceremony prayer, Bonang beach offering 2003. Thesubjects of this research are modin (village religious functionary), society, and ceremonyparticipants. The technique of collecting data was carried out by having observation,interview, and documentation. The research instruments were the researcher herselfwith some other instruments such as CD, MP3, camera and field note. The techniqueof data analysis was inductive while the data validity used triangulation.Larung ceremony, Bonang Beach Offering 2003, uses the language reflecting theculture of this region. Culture influences the way of thinking and the attitude of BonangBeach people in using the language, especially when the modin reads the spell of RajahKala Cakra while doing larung. The use of spell reflects the culture of Bonang Beachpeople who were still in Kejawen at that time and believed in the existence of Northbeach ruler.The spell read by the modin is a prayer used to chase any kinds of evil magic thatdisturbs the peace of the fisherman community and in order to get god-given right byhaving abundant sea crop. The symbol completes all aspects of human life, includingthe cultural aspect such as behavior and knowledge. The tradition of doing beach offeringwith various offerings represents certain symbols. Generally Javanese assume thesymbols with the same meaning, only places and kinds of ceremony which are different.Key words: language, larung, beach offering, Bonang

Abstract

This research is intended to 1) to know the production process of bioetanol fromwild purplish edible tuber, 2) to know the influence of purplish edible tuber bioetanoltoward the octane rate of gasoline, 3) to know the influence of wild-purplish edible tuberbioetanol as octane improver of gasoline toward the emission of motorcycle combustion.This research employed experiment method involving the preliminary research ofwild- purplish edible tuber bioetanol, the production of wild-purplish edible tuber bioetanol,blended bioetanol and gasoline, eco-friendly gasoline research, and analysis.The result of the research reveals that 1) the production process of wild-purplishedible tuber is initiated by the hydrolysis process, fermentation, and distillation. Theoptimum period to get etanol of the purplish edible tuber with the treatment 1.2 gramof yeast for 100gram of purplish edible tuber is 46 hours of fermentation. The employeddestillation is highrise distillation to get etanol content 96%, 2) the influence of thebioetanol mixture in gasoline can increase octane rate at sequentially mixture 10%,20%, 30% respectively 3 point, 2.3 point, and 4.8 point, 3) the influence of bioetanolmixture in gasoline toward the emission of exhaust gas, carbon monoxide (CO) at allmixture ratio decreases while the emission of hydrocarbon decreases at the mixtureratio 10% and increases on the 20% and 30%.Key Words: bioetanol, wild purplish edible tuber, gasoline

Abstract

This research is intended to know 1) the production process of textile from sugarcane fiber, 2) the difference of tensile strength between the textiles from sugar canefiber and those from cotton fiber.This research employed experiment method, involving sugar cane fiber and cottonfiber textile as independent variable. The dependent variables include the tensile strengthand absorpsion of textile. Abstract

This research aims to know the influence of Resource-Based Learning as one of thelearning models for the students as the victims of the earthquake in Kalipucang, Kasihan,Bantul.This research is classified as an action research. It is a fact-finding and problemsolvingmethod in social situation to improve the action quality, involving the researcher,practitioner, and laymen. The research subject was the students as the victims ofearthquake in Kalipucang, Kasihan, Bantul. The techniques of collecting the data wereobservation, interview, questionnaire, and documentation. The data analysis employedin this research was descriptive-qualitative analysis.The result of this research reveals that Resource-Based Learning can be usedas one of the learning models for the students as the victims of earthquake in Kalipucang,Kasihan, Bantul. This can be seen from the achievement of Resource-Based Learning.The characteristics of Resource-Based Learning are 1) using any kinds of informationresource as learning resource, 2) explaining the students on the width of informationresource, 3) urging to change the passivity of the students in traditional learning withactive learning motivated by interest and self-involvement in education, 4) increasingthe learning motivation by providing any possibilities of learning materials, learningmethod, and communication media which are different from the conventional class, 5)giving a chance to the students to work or learn in accordance with their own capacity,6) being more flexible in using time and learning class and 7) developing self-confidencein learning which enables them to learn as long as their life.Key words: Learning model, Resource-Based Learning

Abstract

Video Compact Disk (VCD) is an electronic tool which is easily found at affordableprice. In addition to the entertainment function, this tool can be used to support thelearning process. This research aims to know the effectivity of VCD player as thegeometry-learning media for the students of junior high school and the interest of thesestudents toward VCD player as learning media.The subject of this experimental research was the students of class VIII SMPN 2Bantul, involving three groups; 1) Group A for the students who had not got VCDplayer 2) group B for the ones who had got VCD player but not be monitored, and 3)group C for the ones who had got VCD player and were monitored. The instruments ofthis research were 1) questionnaire for people responsible for a pupil, 2) interestquestionnaire 3) pre-test and pos-test, and 4) evaluation questionnaire. The materialsdelivered in the learning CD was space structure. The materials were packed up in theform of audio-visual.The result of the research reveals that VCD player is effective to be used as geometrylearningmedia for the students of class VIII SMP 2 Bantul Yogyakarta, and the use ofVCD player in learning geometry can improve the students’ interest to this subject.Key words: Video Compact Disk (VCD), Geometry, SMP

Abstract

This research aims to 1) analyze the influence of Multi Level Marketing Industrytoward the upgrading of the students’ entrepreneurship interest and spirit, 2) describethe steps carried out in improving the image toward Multi Level Marketing, and 3)analyze the influence of MLM industry in creating work field.This research employed descriptive-inductive analysis using 50 respondents inSleman Regency, DIY. The result of the research was processed using SPPS programfor Windows 11.00. For the accurateness of the questions the researcher used themethod of dominant variable analysis, consisting of validity and reliability test whilefor the analysis of all the factors the researcher used double-linear regression method.The result of the research reveals that MLM has a great influence in upgradingthe students’ and society’s entrepreneurship spirit. This is proven by 1) the great numberof the students and society developing MLM, 2) the image improvement toward MLM ishighly needed by improving the product quality, personal service, and development.The score of adjusted R square 0.406 or 40.60 means that the independent variablesconsisting of MLM quality variable (X1), product quality variable (X2), personaldevelopment variable (X3), carrier variable (X4), and join variable (X5) have a positiveinfluence toward the productivity of MLM (Y) while the rest 60.60 is influenced by otherfactors. T-test shows that MLM quality variable has the most dominant influence towardMLM productivity (Y). It means that variable X1 is the most dominant variable towardthe MLM productivity, 3) MLM industry gives the positive contribution in creatingwork field. This can be seen from the data showing the great number of societies whohave benefited from the existence of MLM.Key Word: Multi Level Marketing, Entrepreneurship Spirit, Students and Society

Abstract

The developing of biodegradable plastic is an alternative to overcome the problemon the abundance of plastic in environment. This research aims to 1) learn the productionprocess of biodegradable plastic from alginat, 2) learn the easy of biodegradation processfrom plastic material, 3) learn the influence of the length of biodegradation toward theweight loss of plastic from alginat, and 4) compare the degradability between LLDPE((Low Liniear Density Polyethylene) plastic and HDPE (High Density Polyethylene).Alginat was from the extraction of brown algae and Na2CO3 12% , then it was madeas gel by adding HCL 10%. The production process of biodegradable plastic was done byblending-tecnique (LLDPE dan HDPE) with alginat. The test of biodegradable plasticwas done by piling soil up for six days. The speed of weight loss of plastic was shown bythe percent of plastic weight loss.The quatitative analysis of alginat isolated from brown algae with concentration1;, 0.75; 0.5; 0.25 and 0.125% produces the viscosity 2.48; 2.05; 1.89; 1.71; dan 1.62poise, and also specific gravity of alginat 1.085; 1.081; 1.078; 1.083; and 1.078 g/ml. Thebiodegradation result of LLDPE, HDPE, LLDPE plus Alginat and HDPE plus Alginatfind the average of weight loss for three days are 9.03; 4.76; 0; and 16.86%, and for sixdays 0; 0.75; 9.45; and 6.08%. The biodegradable plastic with HDPE plus alginat isbiodegraded faster because of having short chain of ramification.Key words: brown algae, alginat, biodegradable
