Abstract

Large scale land development in outer skirt of a city brings some impacts in its surrounding areas. One of them is related to the per-urbanization process. The development in not only transforming its own area, but also changing its surrounding. The development changes the land uses, creates certain concentrations and changes the surrounding area from predominantly rural characteristics, to peri-urban characteristics, an area with combination of rural and urban characteristics. This study explains the socio-economic transformation of the people living close to large scale land development of BSD. The result shows that socio-economic conditions of the people have been significantly transformed, especially in migration, jobs, income and spending of household's variables. The transformation can be seen from increase of the proportion of migrants; change in the job's structure; the increasing number of secondary and tertiary sectors jobs, the increasing household's income, and the increasing of household's spending for non-primary needs. The transformation is triggered by land development in BSD, such as the growth of industries and commercial activities in BSD which create job opportunities and attract people to migrate the surrounding of BSD.Keywords: large-scale land development, peri-urban, socio-economic transformation, BSD

Abstract

This article recommends the themes that fit to be the syllabus of teaching urban public finance. They are derived from the standard literatures in pubiic finance. Five themes are identifird namely microeconomic rational of urban public finance, public choice of fiscal policy, fiscal federalism, urban policy revenue resources, and budgeting and financial analysis. While financing development is a sin qua non theme for developing countries, adjustment will be needed to fit the context of the countries.Keywords: urban, public finance, classic readings

Abstract

Leisure, recreation and tourism have been part of urban and metropolitan life. Citizen of metropolitan with various lifestyles need some spaces, along with supporting facilities for leisure and recreation which are shared with tourists and other visitors. Planning for providing spaces and supporting facilities for leisure, recreation and tourism is surely an integral part of urban planning. This article explains the urban dimension of leisure, recreation and tourism. Those three terms are defined from various perspectives. Analysis on why people moving or going to urban areas and their implication on leisure, recreation and tourism activities are elaborated. Indonesian illustration on those terms in the context of urban planning are discussed. Finally a discussion on spatial and planning implication of leisure, recreation and tourism are given.Keywords: leisure, recreation, tourism, spatial planning

Abstract

Kampung Naga in West Java is well-known place of living that preserve its traditional values. Houses in Kampung Naga mainly made of bamboo and woods construction. An interviewand field observation are conducted to know the components of their traditional heousing constructions as well as their lifestyle. Some information is then traslated into CO2 emission that found equal to 3kg, a quite law emission. This is due to the fact that they use the materials from its surrounding environment under a strict rule of the group led by a key-person of the group.
