Abstract

This experiment was aimed to examine the best plant spacing of Paspalum sp productivity that was fertilized with Arbuscular mycorrhizal in different plant spacing. The research was conducted in deer captivity area of Darmaga Research Forest, Forest Research and Development Center of The Ministry of Forestry. Model used was a randomized block design with 5 replications. The treatments were plant spacing, i.e. 30 x 30 cm, 40 x 40 cm, dan 50 x 50 cm. The results showed that Paspalum atratum grass fertilized by arbuscular mycorrhizal as 30 spore/5 kg soil by 40 cm × 40 cm plant spacing had the best production potential and nutritive value with the highest number of tillers( 30.80 at 30 DAP), shoot DM (88.76 g at 30 DAP), fresh weight (1021 g/m² at 30 DAP), DM content (11.10%), DM digestibility (57.88%), OM digestibility (53.74%), digested DM production (66.07 g), digested OM production (55.07 g), DM production (112.94 g), OM (101.19 g), and CP (12.26 g).Keyword: Plant spacing, Nutritive value, Arbuscular mycorrhizal, Paspalum atratum.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of need and mechanism of fishermen insurance in sekaya maritim, as well as to find out the impacts that arise and strategies for developing fishermen insurance, thus it can be felt by other fishing communities. Data collection were carried out by literature study and field studies through interviews, observation and documentation. Sampling was done with a purposive sampling method with total of 70 respondents. The results showed that several factors that caused the importance of fishermen's insurance needs were the number of family members, the age of the fisherman, and the working hours of fishermen. Fishermen who have fulfilled the requirements for Fishermen Premise Insurance Assistance (Bantuan Premis Asuransi Nelayan/BPAN) are given an Insurance Card and Realization Policy. A total of 8 fishermen families have received insurance, hence they can improve their economic condition. The fishermen insurance development strategy is that fishermen who have met the insurance participant requirements can enjoy the benefit of insurance every year. Keywords: Fishermen insurance, Sekaya maritim, Development strategy.

Abstract

The study aimed to know the gene polymorphism of growth hormone (GH) of Donggala sheep as potential candidate gene that control the growth characteristics. A total of 50 sheeps from farm community localities (Palu, Central Sulawesi) were analyzed laboratory in BIOMOL FMIPA UB through PCR-RFLP with HinfI enzyme. Results obtained the genotypes of Donggala sheep for PCR-RFLP Hinf1 with genotype AA, AB, BC are 0,933, 0,044 and 0,022. The frequency of A, B and C alleles for Donggala sheep are 0.967, 0.022 and 0.011. PIC value (Polymorphic Information Content) of Donggala sheep is 6.5%. Although PIC value is low, PCR-RFLP Hinf1 finders still have a polymorphic allele variety. Sequence of the three PCR samples also found polymorphisms at the nucleotide base level after comparing them with Lohi breed sheep sequences. Sequence comparisons have a similarity of 97%. Mutations for Donggala sample (20) occurred 16 points while those for Donggala sample (57) occured for 26 points. The point of mutation in the nucleotide base is the cause of polymorphism.Keyword: Donggala sheep, GH genes, PCR-RFLP, Hinf1.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to examine the potential of mangroves and the factors causing mangrove damage, analyze the economic valuation of mangroves and formulate a mangrove ecosystem management strategy in South Larompong Subdistrict. Data collection was carried out by using purposive sampling with a number of respondents of 65 people. Data was then processed and analyzed descriptively, spatially, and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results showed that there was a reduction in the mangrove area about 69.89 Ha from 2014-2018 due to the conversion of mangroves into ponds and settlements. The total economic value of mangroves in 2018 was Rp. 86.603.426.151, consisting of direct use value of Rp. 61.428.000.000, indirect use value (Indirect use value) of Rp. 7.638.926.151, option value of Rp. 15.114.000.000, and the existence value of Rp. 2.422.500.000. The instructions of mangrove management in South Larompong Subdistrict are planning the use of mangrove ecosystems, conservation and rehabilitation, providing extension on preservation of mangroves, optimizing the utilization of mangrove resources, strengthening community institutions, and law enforcement. Keywords: Mangrove Ecosystem, Level of Damage, Economic Valuation.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine efforts to empower coastal seaweed farmer communities, the level of business feasibility and income of coastal seaweed farmers in Bulukumba Regency. Data collection was conducted through literature studies, and field studies (interviews, observations and documentation). The number of respondents was 100 persons. The results showed that the seaweed cultivation business in Bulukumba Regency was feasible to be carried out with a total income of Rp. 42.675.000/year. Analysis of revenue-cost (R/C) obtained value (R/C) of dried seaweed of 2,23. Break event point (BEP) analysis obtained a break-even point at the selling price of Rp. 4.333/kg, return on investment (ROI) analysis obtained a value of 2,23%. The coefficient of determination (R2) showed the contribution of planning, handling, and marketing variables to the level of income of seaweed cultivation (Y) in Bulukumba Regency which was 68,9% while 31,1% was influenced by other factors. Keywords: Business Feasibility, Seaweed, Empowerment.

Abstract

The pathogenicity of warm-water fish bacteria, Edwardsiella tarda in eel (Anguilla marmorata) was investigated.  This study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments of E. tarda concentration (2.52 × 107, 105, 103 cfu/mL) and three replicates.   Regression analysis showed that the lethal concentration fifty (LC50) of E. tarda in eel was 2.56 × 104 cfu/mL. The mortality of eel in all treatments occurred 24 hours after injection. Clinical signs of disease in infected eel were melanization, inflammation, necrosis, pale liver, exopthalmus, ascites, and petechial haemorrhage.Keyword: Anguilla marmorata, Edwarsiella tarda, pathogenicity, lethal concentration.

Abstract

This addition of herbs and spices in the salted eggs is one of the ways for extending shelf life of salted eggs and to add flavor in the salted eggs, apart from the salty taste because there is the addition of salt. Herbs and spices like garlic, red onion and pepper are natural seasoning flavor that contains lot of active chemical substances that are beneficial to the body apart from giving more popular flavor with consumer. The aim of this research is to find out organoleptic properties of salted chicken eggs that are added by herbs and spices. Variance analysis results showing that salted eggs with the addition of herbs and spices from various treatment have no real effect on organleptic properties of salted eggs : egg yolk color, salty taste of egg whites and egg yolk nervousness. This matter probably caused because when salted egg are soaked with herbs and spices, salted eggs products produced change color into darker color, same saltiness and egg yolk nervousness from chicken is different from the salted egg that derives from ducks. Conclusion of this research is salted chicken eggs with the addition of herbs and spices is more preferable by panelist because it tastes more savory even though it dont have significant egg yolk color, salty taste of egg whites, and egg yolk nervousness.Keyword: organoleptic, salt eggs, herbs and spices.
