Abstract

The purposes of the research were to know the quality of cacao bulk on various time depth of fermentation. It was done in Rahmat of Palolo Sub-District, Donggala District.        The Research was set up in Randomized Block Design with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were ; (L0) without fermentation, (L1) 2 days, (L2) 4 days, (L3) 6 days, (L4)        8 days and (L5) 10 days fermentation time depth. The Result indicated that treatment fermentation time depth had effect on quality of kakao bulk and 6 days fermentation showed the best result from all of the treatments.  Even thought on the statistic, that treatment had little differ with 8 days fermentation. Key words: Quality, cacao, fermentation, time depth

Abstract

This experiment was done to test the basal metabolism activities of Cirebon ducks, Manila ducks and Mule ducks. To measure the basal activities such as O2 consumption, CO2 production, respiration quotient (RQ) and heat production there were 20 Cirebon ducks, Manila ducks and mule ducks.  The measurement of three species was done three times, in which three ducks were measured at one week while another one was measured at four and eight weeks, respectively. Each measurement was replicated four times.  The design used way completely randomized design with four groups as replication while species of duck was used as treatment. The data collected were analyzed with analysis of variant. Statistically, there were no differences in O2 consumption, CO2 production, heat production and quotient respiration in all species of ducks.  However, biologically Cirebon duck in week four gained their energy from carbohydrate oxidation (93.6%) and from lipid (6.4%). Meanwhile, the Manila ducks and Mule ducks received all of their energy (100%) from carbohydrate oxidation (on week one, four and eight) and the Cirebon ducks which received all of their energy (100 %) from carbohydrate oxidation on week one and eight. Abstract

Several bacteria isolates obtained from paddy rice plants, banana plants, potato tubers, carrot tubers and soybean seeds were grown on NA, CPG and King’s B media for examination of their physiological characteristics using LOPAT test. The tests lead to the indication that each isolate was the species of bacteria that was known to cause disease on the corresponding plants. Hypersensitivity tests, however, showed that only banana and potato isolates were pathogenic on tobacco plants.Key words : LOPAT, bacteria, plant, hypersensitive.

Abstract

A study was done in the regency of Minahasa, North Sulawesi Province using survey method with purposive sampling, to find an intercropping pattern between coconut trees which provided the maximum added income. The sample as large as 120 were taken from Tombatu and Wori subdistrict. In Tombatu coconut + vanilla intercropping was found to be the best pattern providing added income as high as Rp. 11.612.400/ha/year. Different result was obtained in Wori where coconut + banana intercropping was the best with added income as much as Rp. 3.212.000/ha/year. Key words : Income, inter cropping, coconut.

Abstract

This research work aimed at studying social economic factors influencing farmers go to the forest to gather cane. Doda village was chosen as sample village and sample in Doda village. 43 people was randomly sample to be interviewed. The data obtained showed that low income, big size of family, small size land owned, and having experience in gathering cane all were factors that urged farmers o gather cane. Abstract

The objective of the present work was to find out the effects of fermentation treatment using jamur tiram (Pleurotus sp.) on the stability of palm pressing fibre (PPF).  The digestibility (DDM, DOM, NDF, ADF) was measured in vitro after the method of Telley and Terry (1963).  Jamur tiram was grown on media having different composition of rice branch, CaCO3 and gibs [a) 16% + 2% + 2% ; b) 32% + 4% + 4% ; c) 48% + 6% + 6%]. The treatments to be studied were i) 100% PPF, ii) 80% PPF + jamur tiram on medium (a), iii) 6o% PPF + jamur tiram on medium (b), iv) 40% PPF + jamur tiram on medium (c).  The results indicated that treatment (ii) gave the highest digestibility followed by treatment (iii) and (iv).  Treatment (ii) also offered the best economic profit if compared to the rest. Key words : Digestibility, palm pressing fiber, jamur tiram.
