Abstract

Advances in energy-efficient vehicle technology require lightweight materials that maintain high structural strength. One developed alternative is a polypropylene honeycomb-based sandwich composite structure reinforced with carbon fiber for monocoque chassis applications. This study aims to analyze the effect of varying the number of carbon fiber layers in the top and bottom skins on bending strength and post-test damage characteristics. Specimens were fabricated using the vacuum infusion method at a pressure of -0.8 bar, employing a polypropylene honeycomb core, 3K twill carbon fiber, and an epoxy matrix. Bending tests were conducted using the three-point bending method in accordance with ASTM D790 on three configuration variations: 5-3, 4-4, and 3-5 (top skin–bottom skin). The results showed that the configuration with 5 layers on the top skin and 3 layers on the bottom skin yielded the highest flexural strength of 15.456 MPa, followed by the 4-4 configuration at 12.469 MPa and the 3-5 configuration at 11.654 MPa. Macroscopic analysis revealed failure mechanisms including bending deformation, delamination, core crushing, matrix cracking, lower skin cracking, and fiber pull-out. It is concluded that increasing carbon fiber layers in the top skin significantly enhances flexural strength and reduces damage to the sandwich composite structure.

Abstract

A packaging machine is a tool that functions to carry out the work of packaging production products in an industrial process. The main purpose of designing this packaging machine is to make the animal feed packaging process faster, more accurate, and more efficient in terms of energy use. The working principle of this packaging machine uses a measuring system that moves back and forth continuously, where the measuring adjusts the volume of the type of animal feed that is packaged, so that the packaging process becomes shorter and more accurate. Therefore, the concept of speed control of an induction motor using Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) can be applied as a control system to adjust the speed of the electric motor according to the needs of the workload. The research method used is experimental research, which is to make a tool and conduct a direct function test to determine the level of measurement accuracy. The test results show that the machine is able to carry out the process of measuring and packaging animal feed more effectively and efficiently. In addition, the use of VFD allows the adjustment of working speed according to production needs, while the press system uses a hand impulse sealer to produce neater packaging and has a better selling value. The machine designed is expected to be a solution for livestock business actors and MSMEs in increasing productivity and quality of animal feed packaging. Abstract

Hydraulic excavators are subjected to external digging resistance and gravitational loads that are transmitted through the bucket, arm, boom, and supporting structure. Understanding this load path is important for identifying the force distribution and critical regions of the working mechanism. This study investigates the force and load distribution in the working mechanism of a Takeuchi TB150C excavator under a quasi-static condition. The analysis combines Free Body Diagram (FBD) modeling, force and moment equilibrium, and equivalent beam analysis. The input data were obtained from field observation, component measurements, technical manuals, and supporting engineering references. The loads considered include component self-weight, material weight, soil resistance, hydraulic cylinder forces, and pin reactions. The results show that the bucket cylinder force required to maintain equilibrium was 27.54 kN. The resultant bucket load used in the equivalent arm analysis was 14.001 kN. For the boom equivalent beam, the calculated vertical reaction and support moment were 85.384 kN and 249.15 kN.m, respectively. The maximum bending moment obtained for the arm was 28.266 kN.m. The load was transmitted sequentially from the soil to the bucket, bucket pin, arm, boom pin, boom, upper structure, swing bearing, undercarriage, and track system. The SFD and BMD results indicate that the boom and arm support regions experience the largest internal actions. Therefore, these regions are identified as the most relevant locations for further stress, deformation, and fatigue investigations. Abstract

Crane systems are vital components across multiple industrial sectors, including construction, port logistics, and the maritime sector. Crane operations involving heavy load lifting under dynamic working conditions present high risks of structural failure and overload incidents, which can cause workplace accidents and equipment damage. Advances in digital technology, particularly Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twin, and machine learning, open new avenues for improving monitoring systems and operational risk mitigation in cranes. This study analyzes the effectiveness of integrating these technologies in strengthening structural health monitoring systems and minimizing overload risks in crane operations. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) examining scientific publications from 2021 to 2025, sourced from databases including IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, Springer Link, and Google Scholar. Findings indicate that the integration of smart sensors, wireless communication systems such as LoRa, and machine learning-based analytics improves load monitoring accuracy and enables early warning systems against potential structural failure. Digital Twin technology further supports virtual operational simulation to identify overload risks prior to the lifting process. IoT and artificial intelligence integration therefore plays a central role in improving operational safety and maintenance efficiency of crane systems across various industrial sectors

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the noise level of vehicle horn sounds and evaluate their compliance with hearing health threshold limits. The study employed a comparative descriptive method through direct testing on one unit of a Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid vehicle equipped with a factory-standard horn. The testing was conducted in an outdoor area in front of the vehicle inspection workshop using a Sound Level Meter SL-4010. The vehicle was stationary with the electrical system activated and the engine turned off. Measurements were carried out for 5 seconds in each test with distance variations ranging from 2 to 7 meters, front and side vehicle positions, and microphone height variations from 50 to 150 centimeters. The results showed that the highest noise level at the front position of the vehicle was recorded at a distance of 5 meters, reaching 102.9 dBA, while at the side position, the highest value was 100.5 dBA at the same distance. The highest microphone height measurement was obtained at 130 centimeters with a value of 101.7 dBA. Although the test results still complied with the technical standards based on Government Regulation Number 55 of 2012, the recorded noise levels exceeded the safe hearing health threshold of 85 dBA. This study concludes that exposure to vehicle horn noise has the potential to cause hearing impairment; therefore, an evaluation of vehicle noise technical standards that places greater emphasis on health aspects is necessary.
