Abstract

This study is an pre-experiment research which aims at examining (1) the implementation result of hypnoteaching method in Mathematics learning of class VII students at SMPN 41 Bulukumba, (2) the learning motivation of class VII students at SMPN 41 Bulukumba before and after being taught using hypnoteaching method, and (3) the extend of improvement of students’ learning result of class VII at SMPN 41 Bulukumba taught by using hypnoteaching method. The population of the study was all class VII students at SMPN 41 Bulukumba. The sample was class VIIb students at SMPN 41 Bulukumba. The sample was class VIIb students’ learning result on learning using hypnoteaching method. Based on the effectiveness level criteria, the hypnoteaching method learning was adequately effective to be implemented on rectangular subject. It was proved by the students’ learning result of class VII at SMPN 41 Bulukumba before implementing hypnoteaching method which achieved the mean score 40.24 and was in incomplete category; whereas after being taught by using hypnoteaching method, it achieved the mean score 76.59 that approximately 75% students had fulfilled minimal completeness criteria so it achieved classical completeness with fair category. The result of the study showed that the implementation of learning using hypnoteaching method for six sessions was in the category of completely implemented with the mean score 3.6. There was improvement of learning motivation of students after being taught by using hypnoteaching method from the mean score 95.96 improved to 112. There was improvement of Mathematics learning result of students in class VII at SMPN 41 Bulukumba after being taungt by using hypnoteaching method with the improvement of students’ learning result counted using normalized gain formula by 0.61

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the mathematics learning outcomes eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga Gowa taught through Discovery Learning Based Learning and Problem Based Learning Using Scientific Approach to the material opportunities. This type of research is a research experiment. The subjects were students of class VIII.A and VIII.B SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga Gowa in the second semester of the 2014/2015 school year numbered 80 people consisting of 40 people in each group. Data collected consist of data of student learning outcomes and student response data to the device and learning. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. Descriptive Research data show learning outcomes of students who are taught by the teaching model of Discovery-based learning using a scientific approach is at the high category with an average of 82.42 with a standard deviation of 6.09 from the ideal score of 100. The average value of gain 0.75 with a standard deviation of 0.06 of an ideal score of 1 at the high category, and learning outcomes classical completeness of 87.5%, while the response is in the category of students with more positive with an average of 3.29. Learning outcomes of students taught by teaching model Problem-based learning using a scientific approach at the high category with an average of 87.00 with a standard deviation of 7.06 from the ideal score of 100. The average value gain of 0.82 with a standard deviation 0.07 of an ideal score of 1 at the high category, and classical completeness learning outcomes by 95%, while the response is in the category of students with more positive with an average of 3.48. Descriptive mastery learning outcomes and student response is different. Testing the hypothesis of the differences in the results of learning is done by using independent test samples t test with SPSS 20 for significant learning outcomes with a value of α = 0.05 and for normalized gain significant value to the value of α = 0.05. It can be concluded there is a difference in response and student learning outcomes are taught through discovery learning model based learning and problem based learning model study using a scientific approach in class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga

Abstract

The research is an expost facto research which aims to discover there is influence of mathematical reasoning ability and cognitive style toward student’s communication and connectionability to the statistical topic in class XI Exact of public senior high school in Palu. The population of the research was all of the students of class XI Exact of Public Senior High Schools in Palu of academic year 2015/2016. The sample was selected by two-stage proportional stratified simple random sampling. The sample of the research was students of XI IPA-1 in SMAN 1 Palu, XI IPA-1 in SMAN 3 Palu, XI IPA-2 in SMAN 4 Palu, XI IPA 1 in SMAN 6 Palu, and XI IPA in SMAN 8 Palu. The number of sample was 138 students. The instrument of the research were mathematical reasoning test, Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT), Communication ability to the statistical topic test, and Connection ability to the statistical topic test. The data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive statistical and inferensial statistical analysis with Multivariate Analysis of Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The results of the research show that: (1) there is no interaction between mathematical reasoning ability and cognitive style toward students’ communication and connection ability to the statistical topic, (2) there is no difference of communication ability to the statistical topic between students with FI style and students with FD style, (3) there is no difference of the connection ability to the statistical topic between students with FI style and students with FD style, (4) there is a difference of communication ability to the statistical topic between students with high mathematical reasoning and students with low mathematical reasoning, and (5) there is a difference of connection ability to the statistical topic between students with high mathematical reasoning and students with low mathematical reasoning

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce mathematics learning instrument through cooperative learnig model with the combination of scientific and realistic approaches which is valid, practical and effective. This researches is development research which focuses on developing Mathematic learning instrument through cooperative learning model with the combination of scientific and realistic approaches. The learning instruments produced in this research  were student books, students work sheets, lesson plan, and learning result test of rectangular and square material. While developing the learning instrument, the supported learning instrument were also developed. The developing model use in this research reffered to thiagarajan model or 4-D which consisted of defining step designing step, developing step, and disseminating step. The learning instrument produced in this researches were validated by two experts with the assessment is in very valid category and can be use with minor revision. The trial process was conducted once in this research. The trial was conducted in class VII c at SMPN 33 Bulukumba. The results of the trial test reveal that: (1) Mathematc learning nstrument through cooperative learning model with the combination of scientific and realistic approaches is already practical, but there are several advices from the  observers to improve the practicality of the learning instrument, (2) Mathematic learning instrument through cooperative learning model with the combination of scientific and realistic approaches is already effective because it has already fulfilled 3 of 4 effectiveness indicators, that the  completeness of classical learning result test had been achieved, the teacher ability in learning management is in high category, and the students responds is in positive category. By conducting the aforementioned development stages, it is obtained valid, practical, and effective mathematics learning instruments through cooperative learning model with the combination of scientific and realistic approaches

Abstract

High-level thinking skills based on a revised Bloom's taxonomy is an ability that involves the analysis, evaluation, and create the dikombainkan with dimensions of factual knowledge, conceptual and procedural. This research is the development (Research and Development), which aims to generate test Systems of Linear Equations Two Variables based on a revised taxonomy Bloom qualified to measure high-level thinking skills class VIII SMPN Sungguminasa Gowa. The subjects were the students of class VIII SMPN 4 Sungguminasa Gowa 117 people composed of 80 women and 37 men. Procedure development of instruments that are used to adopt the design development of formative research by Tesmer comprising the step of preliminary, namely the determination of the place and the subject of research, the stage of self-evaluation that is, identifying the learning material of mathematics, knowing the number of students and the information that the students have not got and do the problems higher level thinking and preparation of design problems of high-level description of thinking and formative stages of evaluation (expert review, evaluation of one to one, small group evaluation, and field test). The results showed that the test instrument system of linear equations of two variables based on Bloom's taxonomy developed revisions of quality in this case are valid, reliable, and has the potential effect of high-level thinking skills test that can be completed by students according to the level of mathematical ability. High-ability students can take the test high capability to the level of creation, capable students were able to take the test high caliber to the level evaluate, and low-ability students are only able to work on high-ability test at level analyzes

Abstract

Good knowledge and skill in teaching as well as the teachers’ positive attitude toward curriculum are determined in the achievement of curriculum. The research is a qualitative research which aims to describe knowledge, skill, and attitude of mathematics teachers in implementing 2013 curriculum based on the teachers working period. The instrument of the research was the teacher herself as the main instrument and the supportive instruments were knowledge test, observation sheet, attitude assessment questionnaire, and interview. The data collection was conducted by giving knowledge test to examine the teachers’ knowledge in implementing 2013 curriculum, observation to observe the teachers’ skill in learning process, attitude questionnaire to examine the teachers’ attitude toward the implementation of 2013 curriculum. The subjects of the research were mathematics teachers who had implemented 2013 curriculum which consisted of 2 teachers with 5 years working period and 20 years working period from 2 different schools in Public Junior High Schools in Bulukumba District. The process of the research was conducted by visiting the two schools and giving the knowledge test, conducting learning process observation, and giving attitude questionnaire, as well as interviewing the two subjects; then, conducting data reduction, and formulating the conclusion from the result of the research. The result of the research reveals that the teachers’ knowledge between novice teachers and experienced teachers is almost the same. The novice teachers are prominent in the knowledge about learning models, while the experienced teachers are prominent in the knowledge about the objective of the implementation of 2013 curriculum, the connection between standard criteria of graduates, main competence, basic competence and indicator, scientific approach and authentic assessment. In the aspect of the skill in implementing 2013 curriculum and the implementation of authentic assessment in learning process, the novice teachers have yet to implement the learning process and authentic assessment well, while the experienced teachers have already implemented it well. In the aspect of attitude, both the novice and experienced teachers have positive attitudes toward the implementation of 2013 curriculum and the implementation of scientific approach, but yet  to have positive attitude toward the implementation of authentic assessment

Abstract

This research was purposed to know the effectiveness of generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy in mathematics learning for students of grade X SMA Negeri 9 Makassar. The design of this study was Pre-Experimental Design, namely One-Group Pretest Posttest Design. This study involved two experimental classes, X.2 consist of 33 students and X.5 consist of 35 students by using simple random sampling technique. The data were collected by using students mathematics achievement test, learning implementation observation sheet, students activity observation sheet, and students response questionnaire. The techniques of data analysis were descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of this study reveal that: 1) student’s learning achievement before being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in very low category, however student’s learning achivement after being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in high category, student’s learning achievement after being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy achieved minimal completeness criteria, the improvement of student’s learning achievement (gain) are in high category, student’s learning achivement after being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy did not achieve the classical mastery, and student’s attitude are in good category; 2) student’s activity in learning processes with generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in good category; and 3) student’s response toward the implementation of generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in tend positive category. Based on the criteria of effectiveness, generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy is not effective in mathematics learning for students of grade X SMA Negeri 9 Makassar

Abstract

The collecting data techniques were the teachers learning management ability observation sheet and the students’ activity, learning result test, response questionnaire and documentation. The results of the research showed that: (1) the learning process increased from cycle I to cycle II. It could be seen from the percentage of the average score of the teachers and students’ activities. The percentage of the average score of the teachers’ activity in cycle was 80,4% with good category and in cycle II increased 83,04% with good category. While the percentage of the average score of the students’ activity in cycle I was 78,5 with sufficient category and in cycle II highly increased to 85,2 with good category, (2) the students’ learning result by using cooperative learning model with scientific approach of class VI/A students at SD Inpress Kassi Makassar of academic year 2014/2015, increased  classically from cycle I to cycle II, in cycle I the classical completeness was 65,5% and in cycle II incresed to 88,5% from the students who followed the test, (3) the students’ response toward mathematics learning activity through cooperative learning model with scientific approach of class VI/A students at SD Inpress Kassi Makassar of academic year 2014/2015 from 9 aspect asked to the students, the students gave positive response minimally in each aspect by 78,9% namely in the aspect of whether your self confidence increased in giving idea or opinion in the implementation of cooperative learning model with scientific approach, while the other 8 aspect were above 78,9%. The average of positive response percentage was 89,3%

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the teacher's competence as a teacher at the school. This study uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive approach. A quantitative approach used to collect data in the form of figures analyzed by describing or explaining through tables and percentages. A qualitative approach was used to describe or depict the phenomenon exists then do conclusion. Results from the study showed that the pedagogic competence, professional competence, personal competence and social competence of teachers of mathematics not optimally achieved, this can be seen on the criteria of professionalism of teachers. In other words, a mathematics teacher at the school still needs to follow the training / competence development training of teachers so that the quality of education and the quality of its teachers will increase. This type of data obtained through test pedagogical competence and professional competence, filling questionnaires and direct observations of mathematics teachers and principals. Test results: (1) pedagogical showed that three teachers from high category (excellent) and 2 teachers categorized as being (fairly good); (2) the professional competence of the teacher shows two high category (excellent) and 3 teachers were categorized (pretty good). While the results of the questionnaire from: (1) pedagogic competence gained 3 people categorized excellent teacher and two teachers categorized as good; (2) Professional competence gained 2 categorized excellent teachers, 2 teachers categorized as good and 1 teacher categorized quite good; (3) Competence Personality category 3 good teacher, 1 teacher categorized quite good and 1 teacher categorized as poor; (4) Social competence gained 3 people categorized good teacher, two teachers categorized quite good. From the results of tests, questionnaires and observations can be concluded that the three (3) professors included in the criteria profesionalis teacher, 1 teacher included in the criteria is quite professional and 1 teacher included in the criteria unprofessional

Abstract

This research is qualitative descriptive which aims 1) to describe the ability of solving mathematical problems of students in terms of the level of prior knowledge of mathematics and cognitive styles of students, 2) to describe the ability of solving mathematical problems in terms of the level of prior knowledge of mathematics students, 3) to describe the ability solving mathematical problems in terms of students' cognitive style. The results of this study were 1) Subject style FI cognitive ability in problem solving sequence, clearly and analytically. because the ability to lower the accuracy of less than 2) Subject FD think thoroughly but because of the ability initially so that the subject early ability high to resolve a given problem, while having a low ability can not resolve a given problem, 3) Based on the style of cognitive subject can resolve problems, have prior knowledge of mathematics is high but the workmanship is subject FI neater and analytical, while on the subject of FD solution is in shambles and many coretannya, 4) subject capable of beginning low with the FI can think of steps that must be taken even if there is a mistake in solving a given problem FD subject while the subject is simply not complete, 5) the relationship between cognitive styles and abilities early. Cognitive styles are influenced by high and low initial capability seemingly solving mathematical problems, namely, the truth and the truth calculation steps completion. While the initial capability is affected by the FI and FD cognitive style seemingly solving mathematical problems, namely, the result of his work in which the subject is more analytical and sequential FI and have their own perception of the subject while the FD is more intuitive and chaotic in solving a given problem
