Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the physiological responses of bali cattle (Bos javanicus) in response to weather changes in Merauke district. The experiment was carried out in  Wasur Village II, Merauke district. Twelve bali cattle (age rangedbetween 2-5 years) were used in this study. Every morning during the study periode, animalswere removed from the cage and placed in the ranch and in the evening they sent back into the cage. Microclimate data were recorded around the research station where cattles were  located during 8 am until 4 pm, included dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature, wind speed, and solar radiation. Relative humidity (RH) and Temperature Humidity Index (THI) were also calculated. The physiological responses (rectal temperature, skin temerature, body temperature, respiration rate, and pulse rate) of  bali cattles were monitored every 21 days between April and May. Data were analyzed using the repeated measurement GLM procedure. Bali cattle in this study had a thermoregulatory ability.The different weather between west monsoon on April and east monsoon on May were showed that bali cattles were able to maintain the physiological responses during monsoon changed. Bali cattle were able to maintain their physiological responses within different weather condition, west monsoon on April and east monsoon on May.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the chemical composition especially the crude fiberof Centrocema pubescensand Calopogonium mucunoides that grow in Wasur area as ruminant feed. The research was conducted in Wasur Village, Merauke regency and the proximate analysis was conducted in the Biologi Hewan laboratory of PAU Bogor Agricultural University.Sample used in this research werefeeding grass of leguminose which grow around Wasur area. The results showed that the crude fiber content inC. pubescensand C. mucunoides was 17,59 and 19,36%, respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of paddy farming system for several varieties are Maraoke, Dyah Suci, Ciliwung, Inpago Unsoed 1 and Inpago JSPGA 136 using Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio) in Merauke District. The research was conducted in Marga Mulya, Semangga Sub-district starts from September 2012 to Januari 2013.Analysis data used feasibility of farming system.The results showed that the rice varieties of inpago JSPGA Unsoed 1 and Inpago 136 recommended to developed in Merauke District. The R/C Ratio forInpago Unsoed 1 was 3,14 and Inpago JSPGA 136 was  3,47.Meanwhile, R/C Ratio for variety Meraoke, Dyah Suci and Ciliwung respectively is 1.55, 2.70, and 3.45.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the level of pesticide residue in the vegetables in local market in Merauke. There were six pesticide residues from pyrethroid group tested on three kinds of vegetables, i.e. cabbages (Brassica oleracea), long beans (Vigna Sinensis (L.) Savi Ex Has), and mustard greens(Brassica sinensis L.)from the local market in Merauke. The research was conducted in Laboratory of Agrochemical Residue of Bogor Agricultural Environment Research Center.Pesticide residue was analyzed by using gas chromatography (GC).The results showed that pesticide residues from all vegetables were lower than maximum residue limit (MRL), hence it was relatively safe for consumption

Abstract

In Kejobong, Purbalingga, goat population was approximately 15,000..In dry season it is difficult to provide food for goats,  so they have to dug out of pens to browse the agricultural waste.Banana peel and rice straw are widely available in the study sites. Fresh banana peelshould be dried and converted intoflour as goat’s diet.Rice straw was processed through ammonization added with waste bread meal to enhance its quality. Three different concentrations of R0 without banana peel flour in concentrate,  R110% and R2 of 20%. as a substitute for fresh forage is hay ammoniation is  a treatment at 18 kejobong male goats which are divided into six groups of weights. Research design used was randomized block design. Ration  based on voluntary feed intake measured during preliminari for 14 days. Subsequent consumption of the feed ration as a standard ration and the addition is adjusted to increase the weight that weighed every two weeks.Results showed that flour banana peel to the extent of 20% was not different (P <005) against the daily body weight gain and feed consumption, but different (P >0.01) of meat-bone ratio and weight group  as such, flour banana peel  to some degree 20% can be used as feed concentrate for kejobong male goat.

Abstract

The Research objective is  to evaluate wheat growth by  several plants density and   combination of inorganic nitrogen and compost nitrogen. The research was conducted in Sirapu Village, SemanggaDistrict, at Merauke Regency and used Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 blocks replication. The first factor was plant density of three level, i.e., 25 cm x 10 cm, 25 cm x 15 cm, 25 cm x 20 cm.The second factor was combinationof inorganic nitrogen and compost nitrogenconsists of six levels, i.e., compost 0% + urea 0%, 0% compost + 100% urea, 25% compost +75% urea, 50% compost + 50% urea, 75% compost + 25% urea, 100%compost + 0%. This experiment resultshowedthatthere was nosignificant interactionbetweenthe densityandthe combination ofinorganicnitrogenand nitrogencompostforallcomponents of production ofthe wheat. Abstract

Waste with high level of salinity is usually difficult for microorganism to degrade because the high level of salinity concentration in the environmentcan hamper microorganism to reduce organic materials. This research was aimed to investigatekinetic parameter in degradation process of organic materials in anaerobic condition with high level of salinity concentration. The main research was conducted with three operation conditions with inoculum as much as 15% out of total sample volume in which a number treatments in terms of adding salt fiom 0 mg/kg, 32 mg/kg and 52 mg/kg. This research was used some synthetic liquid waste (molases) with inoculum came fiom salt made location. The initial COD content in molases which has been made into liquid is averagely out of two test was 400000 mg/l. The COD content required for this research was 4000 mg/l.
